Dee Gordon
Giants had closer to 35 and the Royals were a total anomaly.

Dee Gordon
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 05:13 PM) Under all day Yeah, I was just trying to make a joke about the rest of that infield's lack of power. Even in this baseball climate I don't know if you can get by with a combined 15-20 HRs between your 2B, SS, and 3B. Particularly in the White Sox case where it doesn't look like there will be much home run production from the outfield either. EDIT: I don't think trading for Dee Gordon makes a lot of sense for either team right now. Maybe before the Samardjiza trade and Robertson signing I could get behind Alexei for Gordon, but not right now. I don't see why the Dodgers would want Johnson when they already have Gordon and are looking to unload him.

GAME THREAD 7/9: SOX @ BOS
A lot of venom in this thread for a loss that is completely meaningless. If the Sox finish one game worse than some other team to get a top 5 pick everyone should remember this game and be happy.

5/18 Games
Glad to see Danish struggle a bit. I think he'll develop a lot more adjusting to A+ than dominating in A.

Destinations for De Aza
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 01:08 PM) They don't have anymore failed lefty starters who throw 97-98 do they? Neither are lefties, but I would take either Stephen Pryor or Carson Smith for De Aza.

Tim Anderson just misses BP's Top 100
This isn't entirely relevant to this thread, but probably not deserving of its own thread either, so I'll just drop it in here. Jason Parks @ProfessorParks I don't want to start a panic, but the #WhiteSox are #19 on my preliminary sketch of all farm systems. I'm sober. I promise.

Official 2013-2014 College Hoops Thread
I love this team. GRIII probably made the wrong choice going back to school as his stock has done nothing but drop and probably will continue to do so, especially if Walton plays like he did tonight for the rest of the year. That said, Michigan would be in big trouble without GRIII, imagine this team with Donnal playing the 4.

Hahn's next move?
I think the White Sox already got their low-cost high-upside starter in Felipe Paulino. If they were to sign another free agent it makes more sense to me to go after a guy like Paul Maholm, Joe Saunders, or Jake Westbrook that are at least going to put up serviceable numbers and give you innings.

Hahn's next move?
It seems like the Giants still need someone for LF. I wouldn't mind De Aza for Hector Sanchez and maybe a low level prospect. If we had to include Flowers in the deal that would be fine too. Sanchez was one of the Giants top prospects a few years ago and has been adequate in his time in the majors. He's young and still a year away from arbitration. He's also hit lefties pretty well so at least he brings something to the table.

Offseason Top Prospects lists
I would think that Abreu will be rated within a few spots of Kris Bryant on most lists. Only other prospect that seems remotely comparable is Miguel Sano and both of those guys are looked at as potential 3B or corner OFs not 1B/DH types.

2014 White Sox ZiPS projections
Brian Cartwright @blcartwright 18m @DSzymborski Oliver likes Abreu a little better, 280/348/520 w/WSox, 33 HR per 600 PA. I would be very happy if Abreu put up numbers somewhere between the ZiPS and Oliver projections.

Altuve isn't much of an upgrade over Beckham, if he's one at all.

Hahn's next move?
Taking a look around the league I would say that the teams who would most likely be looking for a player like De Aza would be the Orioles, Reds, Giants and maybe Astros. The Astros already traded for Dexter Fowler and gave up Jordan Lyles for him. Fowler is definitely a more valuable player than De Aza, but he's probably the closest thing to De Aza that has been traded recently. I would think the White Sox could get maybe a B- return for De Aza compared to Fowler. I'd be happy to get back guys like Parker Bridwell, Drew Cisco (maybe another toss in player with him), Derek Law, or Kyle Smith for De Aza.

Sox trade Addison Reed to Diamondbacks for 3b Matt Davidson
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 02:47 PM) Frankly Towers may have felt like Davidson wouldn't be able to hack it at 3b and would lose value without a position. We really need him to hold his own at 3b. I don't know if this is entirely true. If he's hitting well, but a bit of a butcher at 3B it's possible he could slide over to 1B and Abreu could DH in 2014 and on. Obviously that wouldn't be the best outcome, but just because he can't cut it at third defensively doesn't guarantee he has no value going forward.

Jays @ Sox
I would be just fine with this camera angle being used a lot more on non-foggy days. Sure, you don't get quite a good of a look at the pitches, but it's an interesting vantage point to watch a game from. I'd at least like to see more replays from the angle behind home plate.

White Sox draft day one thread
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 10:53 AM) I'm sure they are thinking long term starter. It could be a Sale or Buehrle scenario where he comes up as a reliever but the plan is to make him a starter. Those mechanics just scare me. Not to say that he can't pitch with those but it leaves alot of room for doubt. Those guys were handled a lot differently though. Buehrle had 30 starts in the minors before he came up and Sale didn't even have 30 IP before he was called up. I don't see how they could take this kid and not at least try him out as a starter first.
