  1. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 01:27 PM) anyone know the exact # of times this lineup was used in 2007? LF- Podsednik CF- Erstad DH- Thome 1B- Konerko RF- Dye 2B- Iguchi 3B- Crede C- Pierzynski SS- Uribe it has to be under 20. Never, this is the closest one, used 4 times. Pods has only played 19 games, so under 20 was a pretty good bet if you got any takers. Podsednik Erstad Thome Konerko Dye Crede Pierzynski Iguchi Uribe
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 01:10 PM) Carlos Zambrano just ran out there like a f***ing maniac throwing punches at anyone who could get within reach of. What a f***ing nutjob that guy is. He was looking for Barrett
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 06:13 PM) Fields is fun to watch and I can't call the loss pathetic based on the offense, rather based on the absolute stupid baserunning and defense. Nice play by Bay to rob Thome of the go ahead homer. Whats the adage? Never make the first out or the last out at third base? The White Sox managed to make BOTH the first and third outs at 3B in the second inning. I don't think I've ever seen that before. When things go bad for these guys, they go very very bad.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 11:29 PM) After the game, Ozzie said Jenks was the only righty left anyway. Using him in the 7th would just be silly down a run anyway. From MLB.com This kind of stuff always P-O's Guillen and Williams. It wouldn't surprise me if Prinz and Day go down and MacDougal and the next warm body in line come up.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 10:50 AM) ESPN just announced it. Just tell him to appeal it, then drop it tomorrow and let Hall play. I expect they will appeal, play him against Jennings today, then drop it and sit him for Wandy Rodriguez tomorrow. Who is the emergency catcher if AJ is out and Hall goes down? Kong?
  6. On Ozzie's pregame interview he told Farmer that they would decide whether to bring Thome back today or tomorrow depending on how he looked during BP. He must have looked pretty good, Rongey reports Thome is reinstated and Ryan Sweeney has been optioned out.
  7. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 18, 2007 -> 09:27 PM) You drank too much after the game. I just wanted to see that Buehrle>Wood guy throw up. Perhaps he would choke on the vomit.
  8. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ May 18, 2007 -> 06:26 PM) If I hear someone say that Greg Walker is one of the best hitting coaches in the game, I may just throw up. Greg Walker is one of the best hitting coaches in the game.
  9. QUOTE(BainesHOF @ May 17, 2007 -> 01:00 AM) Why did your girlfriend want to bring a dog to the game? As I read it she wouldn't go to the game with him so he took her dog instead.
  10. QUOTE(BearSox @ May 12, 2007 -> 11:42 PM) If I was a kid, I'd be thrilled to go to the ballgame with my dog, and a bunch of other dogs. I can tell you obviously never had a dog, because if you did, he'd be practically a best friend to you. That saying isn't a lie. And who cares about fireworks. The load bangs and the smoke probably scare the kids more then anything. My wife and I were there too, we didn't know it, but it was Catholic elementary school night too so we had about 4 solid rows of 5th graders behind us. They were all disappointed when there were no fireworks after AJ's HR, but at least they stopped yelling "Lets Go White Sox" for about 30 seconds. On the whole, they followed the pizza races more than the game, but seemed to all have a great time. Anyone else notice how strong Jenks looked against Sweeney? I just looked at it on game day and they have him at 98 mph. So there were fireworks, if you count AJ's bomb and Bobby Jenks' smoke.
  11. QUOTE(JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ May 7, 2007 -> 06:37 PM) I see no reason why we can't go into the twinkie dome this week and stick it to the piranhas. No Santana, no Mauer, maybe our luck is turning... Except for a rough outing from MacDougal, it could have been.
  12. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 7, 2007 -> 04:15 PM) Reifert's reply to a letter from the mailbag on the Sox site: Thats Scott Merkin, not Reifert. Like all the MLB com reporters, he can shill with the best of them, but he's not a VP of the White Sox.
  13. You never know: Sox V Minny pitching match ups: Javier Vazquez @ Boof Bonser John Danks @ Ramon Ortiz Jose Contreras @ Carlos Silva
  14. Hold your horses boys and girls. On May 5 1983 the White Sox were 10-12. 2 games under. They won the division with a 99 wins. Today the White Sox are 12-14, 2 games under. Will they win 99? Have to watch the games to find out. A baseball season is made up of hot streaks and cold streaks, it takes the full 6 months for things to all even out.
  15. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ May 4, 2007 -> 10:48 AM) Why? Because the hitting HAS to come around, whereas the pitching does not. There are just TOO MANY at ... I'm also pretty upbeat about the team. Despite not hitting they have stayed pretty aggressive, and I feel that is a key for this type of team. They keep playing hard whether they are up or down. The hitters just need to see some bad pitchers a couple of times and they will come around. A bloop and a bomb (or two) will change everyone's perspective. Maybe Paul Konerko can hit one hard before it gets dark out in LA tonight and the disease will spread.
  16. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 08:24 AM) Yes please; In Australian baseball do they run the bases counter clockwise?
  17. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 11:49 PM) Best case scenario here is he rakes in Charlotte, and either forces the Sox's hand in recalling him (very unlikely) or building up his value enough so a team like Florida which needs a young center fielder, will decide to give up some young pitching for him. But I think the Sox really have to look at how they handle young players close to the majors, after seeing what has happened with Brian Anderson, and with his attitude. The White Sox need Anderson to get his swing and aggressiveness back in Charlotte. Erstad has had a wonderful start but his track record says he will go down for some injury sooner or later. Brian Anderson is still the best option in the organization. They just have to get him untracked.
  18. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 01:06 AM) He's been brutal of late. 1 for 4 with a SB and a run scored last night. No Ks. I've seen him a couple times on MLBTV, he looks very overmatched at times but seems find little ways to help the team at some point in the game, even after looking bad for a couple ABs. He needs to go around the league a couple times so we can see if he adjusts -- or the league adjusts to him.
  19. I don't know if it's gonna work, but Ozzie sure has guts. He's getting flayed for this one, I'm become an Ozzie backer and I'm shaking my head. He really doesn't give a sh*t what everybody says.
  20. QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Apr 21, 2007 -> 03:32 AM) I've got a strange buzzing sound coming out of the game I downloaded off of itunes. Does yours have that problem? Only when I drink too many beers.
  21. Joe Crede's cousin? Baseball ref lists it too but this guy is 67 years old? http://www.baseball-reference.com/h/higgide01.shtml Love your stuff, Statmando.
  22. From MLB.Com The article isn't clear but it sounds like a grand jury proceeding, perhaps Jose is facing a supeona in this matter, rather than a divorce? The rest of the article is Ozzie defending Contreras and saying he'd do the same thing.
  23. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 09:44 AM) Because we don't have anyone who is anything resembling a real leadoff hitter going into the future. Jerry Owens has the right skill set. He's still needs development but his tools are good for the slot.
  24. Maybe this is why Joe Cowley has been hanging around the WSCR radio booth and making himself available for White Sox weekly and Rain Delay Theater. The radio booth is the best seat in USCF.
