QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 16, 2013 -> 08:55 AM) FIFA 14 demo was pretty good. You could definitely tell the difference in player movement and could see the different ways the ball moves on shots now too Agreed. The player movement off the ball and on the ball felt different. Supposedly most of the changes are more noticeable on the next-gen systems. Unfortunately, I will be getting both.

Badger is obviously biased towards his own school so he is defending the decision because he has to, but it's still the wrong one. The plan was never to run the clock down. The only reason they ran more plays was to center it. They weren't going to kill all the clock either way. The QB messed up, but the fact that he actually took a knee doesn't matter. That part was called correctly because the clock ran. Wisconsin's QB caused the confusion and never rushed his team to get set. He needed to hand the ball to the official. It goes back to risk/reward. There was no reward for what Wisconsin did and the correct team won that game. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 14, 2013 -> 10:11 PM) GTA games usually aren't that big. They don't really have video files per say. Everything is rendered on the spot. That will make the game smaller on its own. Plus, Rockstar probably uses better compression. Uncharted is a PS3 exclusive and they get to use the whole Blu Ray. Being cross-platform, Rockstar had to fit the game on a DVD for the 360, so they probably compressed the s*** out of everything. Looks like it is 18 GB. That's a little more reasonable for what it's offering, but I wouldn't want to download a file that size, takes forever.

I see most people are taking the easy way out by blaming the refs in the Wisconsin game, but the umpire who failed to be assertive in getting the ball is only a fraction of the problem. To me, it starts with the idiotic decision to center the ball with 18 seconds left. It's a 30-yard FG. If your kicker (who is a righty that would be kicking from the right hash) can't make a 30-yard FG because it's on a hash he's not worth his scholarship. The risk/reward of centering it doesn't justify doing it. Your kicker should be a 90+% pick to make either kick. That's no reward. The risk is what we saw. s*** happens in college football regarding clock management. Centering it there was like taking a heavy favorite on the money line for a dollar to win 5 cents. What's the point. Four things went wrong for Wisky on that play. 1. The stupid decision as I explained. 2. The QB placing the ball down instead of handing the ball to a ref, failing to rush his team to set or the spike and arguing with the ref. 3. The ASU DL falling on the ball. 4. The ref failing to do anything about it. The chain reaction was started by Wisconsin. As far as I'm concerned, that failure was on Wisconsin, pun intended. Badgers got what they deserved. -
GTA 5 is only 16 GB? Uncharted 2 and 3 were bigger than that. How can an open world game the size they are advertising not be a gigantic file?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 11, 2013 -> 09:23 AM) There were others even this year, but they were quickly promoted. Hard to find examples of players who spent the whole year in Rookie ball and did that well, I agree there. There have been a few. Heck, Eric Grabe last year. Kevan Smith.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 10, 2013 -> 10:56 PM) Honduras has a pretty easy schedule left and no way is Mexico coming away with a point in Costa Rica. No chance for third for them imo. Panama vs Mexico in Azteca will be fun. If it's a tie, I wouldn't mind playing to a 0 0 tie with Panama for the US last match. I don't see why Mexico can't even get a point at a Costa Rica side that's already qualified for the World Cup? Who knows what kind of squad they will bring. Panama needs a tie at Azteca, which is a hell of a lot easier than the win they probably need before that late equalizer tonight. It's going to be fun down the stretch rooting against Mexico. Two matches left and Mexico can't even finish in the top 2. No one would have guessed that. Oh and DOS A CERO! -
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 10, 2013 -> 08:37 PM) Making iPhones in a "gold color" is probably the most Apple thing they could have ever done. Also, revolutionary! This is so true, but I also kind of want one. I'll have to see it in person to see if it's the color I want.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 8, 2013 -> 04:13 PM) Lets get back on the winning trail on Tuesday. US team has played poorly in its last 2 international games (especially on the defensive side of the ball). They played poorly in a win in Bosnia? The defense wasn't great, but that was still a good showing. I'd like to hurt Mexico, but the US only needs to beat Jamaica at home to qualify so I'm not worried in the least. -

QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 7, 2013 -> 10:04 AM) If we can win or draw Tuesday, the 9th matchday will feature the biggest game of the Hex with Panama at Mexico. 4th place isnt a lock for Mexico, especially since they travel to Costa Rica the final day and Panama could be facing a B-team USA squad at home. And given the remaining schedules, it's going to be very unlikely for Mexico to get back into the top 3. It's pretty amazing really. -

QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 10:42 PM) Paging Brad Guzan...Please take over the starting spot at GK. I've seen enough of Howard not making the quick decision and costing this team. No way Guzan can be any worse than Howard. Are you serious? Two set pieces and a breakaway and you're blaming Howard? He had no chance on the first two. I don't know what you want. The goat of the game for me is Orozco. He got torched early. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 03:25 PM) Also, I have yet to figure out why EA refuses to put a simple "load previous game" or "continue franchise" button on the freaking home screen. Why do I have to drill down 5 menus before I get that option? Oh! Another complaint: the load screens for just about everything are obnoxiously slow. EA Sports has had this issue in their games for years. It drives me nuts.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 06:25 PM) I guess I didn't even realize that teams can have more than 6 U.S. affiliates, but it looks like some teams do. Don't see how it could be a bad thing. Actually most teams do and I believe that's a newer thing. I don't remember as many having three rookie affiliates. The Arizona League and the Gulf Coast League are sometimes referred to as 'complex leagues' as in played on spring training complexes. It's a lower level than the Appy or Pioneer. My guess is that the Sox will work in some younger talent there, with a heavier foreign and high school influence. Look at how awful Bristol has been in recent years. They've been overmatched. That's largely the kind of team I expect to see in the Arizona League and the hope would be that Bristol gets more experience and success that way.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 1, 2013 -> 07:52 AM) Because they wouldn't be very good. (Not that Illinois is any good now). Chicagoland surprisingly lacks in the football talent department. Most of Northwesterns best players are from out of state. Right. Illinois really isn't a football state and high school football in Illinois is average at best. Northwestern is getting more of the top talent from the area lately, but they need to do well nationally to thrive. -

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Sep 1, 2013 -> 01:14 AM) I am slightly encouraged that they have 37 points with minimal contributions from Colter and Mark. Their depth and athleticism seems to be improving significantly. That's the one thing I noticed about this game. NU never would have competed in a game when their starting QB, RB, WR all went down. The depth is impressive comparatively. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 1, 2013 -> 01:16 AM) He already said no to Notre Dame. I was thinking more like an SEC job like Auburn. Somewhere that you can win a national title and offers him top tier money. -

LOL Illinois. They can genuinely lose this game. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 08:08 AM) Funny, but... he should have been expected to hit like this. The guy barely played in college, he was very NON prospect. But using PED's? That will not go over well. I still think these favor draft picks are a mistake. A 36th round pick can never be a mistake.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 05:44 PM) Averaging close to 1k/ inning in the minors is far from indicating he would do the same in the majors. There's usually a 15% drop off between the two numbers. If you think he can average a K per inning or close to it, that's even more ridiculous. I do think he can average 7K/9. If that's a strikeout pitcher to you, then we just have different scales. There's a reason he's always been viewed as a mid rotation starter, not an ace. His stuff is above averaging. He's had a great season, but we shouldn't have unrealistic expectations for him. I didn't say he was a strikeout pitcher. I'm saying he gets plenty of strikeouts in the minors and you saying he can get 7 K/9 in the Majors is also plenty of strikeouts. I don't anything wrong with him having that kind of K rate in the Majors.
-
QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 11:27 AM) You can't just look at raw numbers and call someone a strikeout pitcher. He's getting guys out now based on control and command, but he doesn't have a big fastball or a wipeout slider that these prospect evaluators are looking for. He can get away with striking out almost a batter a inning now, but in the majors, I think he's more close to a 7K/9 inning guy. Personally I think he should be in the 40 range, but he will wind up ranking in the 50 range. That's ridiculous. There's only 15 SP in MLB with K/9 at 9 or higher. He gets plenty of strikeouts and you're projecting him to get plenty of strikeouts.

QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 29, 2013 -> 10:24 AM) Keon Barnum isn't setting the world on fire, but doing what he's doing in low-A at his age and experience level is still pretty impressive I agree. If we're looking at his season simply as pass/fail, I'm calling it a pass. He's progressed despite some injuries limited his playing time.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 29, 2013 -> 01:39 PM) When you think of the phrase "E-A SPORTS: IT'S IN THE GAME" what is the first game that comes to mind? They've used it for virtually all of their sporting games at one point or another, but I bet close to 90% of people will say Madden. Depends on if you're talking in this country or internationally. FIFA outsells all other EA Sports franchises combined each year.

Where's our boy? Celtic made the comeback. Their reward is getting trounced in the group stage (oh and millions of dollars).
