QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 22, 2012 -> 06:24 PM) This is awesome: Turning the NCAA tournament into the College Basketball Champions League, UEFA-style. I love the concept of the NCAA Cup, but the beautiful structure of the Champions League only really applies to pro sports. Meanwhile, this MSU Minny game is setting up for a patented Gus moment. -
QUOTE (The Baconator @ Feb 21, 2012 -> 09:52 PM) I agree with Fight Club, I probably wore that one out as well. Watched it again a couple months ago and realized I need to put that back on the shelf for a long while. I don't think it's really built for multiple viewings. It's nice to see it a second time to see if you can spot the ending earlier, but after that it definitely loses its luster.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 21, 2012 -> 11:30 PM) Cold pizza is gross and should be outlawed. We agree? Weird. I'm convinced the toaster oven was put on this planet for the purpose of reheating pizza quickly.

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 21, 2012 -> 06:45 PM) Look sort of clueless against a 2-3 zone. They've played fine against zones before. A mediocre K State team played just about as well as it can and Mizzou played its worst home game of the season. It sucks because now Kansas will romp them and Mizzou won't get a 1 seed or the Big 12, but it happens. -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 20, 2012 -> 10:33 PM) I haven't gotten to watch them, but this UNM team is intriguing to me. Looking ready to run away with the MWC over UNLV and SDSU. I've seen them have some good teams, but I can't remember any in recent memory at this level. Alford has apparently done some magic since going there. Ken Pom loves them so you're not alone in realizing this recently. I'll have to watch them myself. -

The reason Texas sucked at offense last season is that they had the worst QB play in the Big 12. -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 19, 2012 -> 11:29 PM) The Liam Neeson scene in Life's Too Short was outstanding. Absolutely. Fantastic.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Feb 18, 2012 -> 07:34 PM) cant see weber surviving now. ultimately I think he's a guy who just doesn't quite gel with todays athletes I really disagree with that. I think it's just the type of player he's recruited. Still Weber's fault, but I'm not sure some of these players would be successful with any coach. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 05:02 PM) I enjoyed the whole trilogy (1 through 3). There were some flaws but to me the hate some of these movies received was just ridiculous. I agree, but they were more just action movies whereas the original trilogy had more to it story wise and a lot better acting. It's kinda like how people hate on Matrix 2 and 3. The second Matrix movie is one of the best action movies ever IMO, but it's not the psychological thriller like the original. Now the third Matrix, meh, but it still had great scenes.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 11:12 PM) My roommates and I have been hooked on The Walking Dead for the past week. Really good show. Season 1 = very good. Season 2 = very frustrating.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 08:02 AM) Watched The Debt last night. Was fairly entertaining, and Jessica Chastain is hot...but the movie was entirely not what I had hoped it would be. I hate when a movie is advertised as something other than it really is through manipulation of the trailer. Yeah, I thought the trailer looked like a cool movie, but it was only OK.

SDSU gets smacked at home to UNM and the numbers (and Vegas) laugh in Justin's face. -
Deng had 23 points and 11 assists against the Kings yesterday. Lin had a nice game, but it's really nothing to brag about.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 15, 2012 -> 05:59 PM) So apparently SDSU is an underdog tonight at home vs. New Mexico. For any betters out there SDSU is an absolute lock. The numbers love New Mexico. KenPom has UNM 12 and SDSU 55. That said, SDSU did win at UNM so I tend to think you're right. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 14, 2012 -> 09:29 PM) Well Kyyle you can add to those stats...Creighton shot a MVC single game record 78 percent from the field tonight against the Dawgs. Hahahahahahhahaha what a f***in embarrassment. Wow, heck of a box score. I'm tempted to watch that to see how that's possible. 12-14 from 3?! -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 14, 2012 -> 01:55 PM) The sad thing is, I think in a full, normal, regular season, the Bulls are a 45ish win team without Rose. I don't see too much difference in quality between that hypothetical team and the Bulls that won 50 games in the Hinrich era. Besides, 45-50 wins without your best player is more than almost any other team in the league. Miami could survive losing Wade or LeBron and contend, but after that it's a short list. Not sure why that's sad.

QUOTE (almagest @ Feb 14, 2012 -> 10:48 AM) He was bad in Cleveland, but if he can get on base with us like he did with the Cubs, this is a good move for some bench depth. If he's playing every day, it means one of De Aza/Viciedo/Rios has been awful, which means we're probably terrible anyways. If he can get on base like he did with the Cubs (.370+ OBP) he should probably be starting, certainly a fixture in the lineup against righties. QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Feb 14, 2012 -> 11:05 AM) Just watched Moneyball this weekend...... I keep thinking of KW sitting in a room acting like Beane coming up with this crazy a@@ signing.... I don't know if this is crazy, but it definitely reminded me of that movie. An older player with good on-base skills that signs for cheap. You have to love this move, even if it will have a marginal impact.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 13, 2012 -> 04:53 PM) I suppose if KSU and ISU have basically identical records, you make a good point about the OOC games. But KSU has struggled of late, so I think it will be a stretch for them to finish 10-8, or even 9-9 in the B12. If I had to throw out predictions, --ISU wins one of the KSU or Baylor games, and beats OU and TTU, to finish 21-10/11-7. K State does have a brutal schedule coming up. They pretty much have to beat Kansas tonight. Funny thing is the way the Big 12 did the schedule most of the league got Missouri and Kansas back to back and a few of those that didn't had K State in between them. Not that anyone in their right mind would have thought Mizzou would have been this good, but it's funny to have back to back top 5/10 teams on your schedule. I'd be willing to bet Iowa State doesn't win at Baylor and K State seems unlikely given the Wildcats desperation. -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 13, 2012 -> 01:36 PM) Also, remember, the selection committee tends to like teams getting stronger near the end. Now, that could cut both ways for ISU; if they get creamed in all their last three games, that looks bad... but their overall success has been in the latter half of the season. Or... are you saying that as of this moment, KSU or Texas make a better case? I for one think the conference games are more meaningful as a whole than the early season OOC games. And history seems to indicate the selection people do as well. That potentially weak finish is what does it for me. It's kind of unlucky scheduling. If those last 3 games are split up the resume probably looks better, but when you're in/on the bubble like Iowa State currently appears and lose your last 3 regular season games that becomes a bit of a red flag no matter who the losses were to. If the selection committee picks today they're in. I just think they're gonna need to win one of those 3 games or make the Big 12 semis to avoid their resume taking a hit at the time of year when they can least afford that. -
Really? We're going to stress out over that?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 13, 2012 -> 12:23 PM) So, do you two think the B12 - whose power numbers put them as the 2nd or 3rd strongest conference this year - is only going to send 3 teams to the Tourney? I just really, really doubt that. My guess is 5, with the obvious three, Iowa State and one of KSU or Texas. 4 would surprise me, and I think 3 is out of the question. That's not the point when Iowa State has such a crap non-conference resume. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 13, 2012 -> 11:23 AM) Their overall profile would be extremely weak if they just beat OU and Tech. That being said I wouldn't put it by the committee to put them in the field just because of their conference record. Exactly on both parts. Plus, 10-8 would be an issue because they'd enter the B12 tourney on a 3-game losing streak. I'm not saying Iowa State needs to win out or even close, but winning one of those three final games makes them a lock. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 13, 2012 -> 10:19 AM) That's really the main reason I'm still watching. Everyone tells me the new characters were good in the comic. And as last night showed, a battle/showdown between survivors is infinitely more interesting than a group of survivors v. the zombie world. They definitely need new characters. Something needs to shake up the dynamic. I just kept talking to myself when the car accident happened. I mean really? f***ing really? That's your drama point? Talk about not showing creativity.
