What do you think IU's conference record will be? No way they win 12 games and I'm leaning towards 10-8. They're not a top 20 team by a long shot. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 02:43 PM) Ah, so people who don't like The Big Bang Theory are now all ignorant. That's quite a blanket to lay down. Not really. You don't know what you're missing. That's ignorant. Ignorant isn't really an insult.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 09:41 AM) I absolutely love the Big Bang Theory. Yes. I guess if the ignorant are going to hate on it, I'll have to rally behind it. The first couple seasons were better than it currently is IMO, but it's still a well-done comedy.

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jan 15, 2012 -> 10:27 PM) Indiana laid one against Minny, I highly doubt that happens against ILL. I don't think you wanna get into some of the stinkers your team has played. Bruce might want to realize he has more talent than his idle Gene Keady ever had and adjust accordingly. Glenn Robinson? -

Reminds me of TO's catch into double coverage years ago. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 03:13 PM) I heart Gus Johnson. It's early, but I think this a must-win for Northwestern to keep alive any tourney aspirations they might have. Good thing they won. Honestly, I don't think it was a must-win, but they are only a few chances on the schedule to pick up a win like that. I think the difference from previous years is that they actually have a pretty decent non-conference resume. Seton Hall is surprisingly turning into a quality win and their losses (Baylor and at Creighton) are anything but bad. Entering today they were 30th in the RPI and 10th in SOS. Both numbers will go up. I'm not saying they're in a good spot, but a winning Big Ten record should be enough, especially with a top tier win in hand. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 02:43 PM) I still don't believe in Scott Drew as a coach. You don't have to. They're completely loaded. As long as they stay healthy there are only a dozen or so teams that can stay on the court with them. Gus Johnson after Shurna makes a 30 footer to go into half: "Shurna....OHHHH.....SHURNA from the HASH!" Love it. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 02:11 PM) K State sure is tripping up a bit. Great at home, bad on the road. Big 12 is a three-team race (Baylor, Mizzou, Kansas) but I think Baylor will pull away at some point. Their length makes them upset proof against so many teams. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 02:27 PM) The game was during winter break so the home court advantage wasnt as great. Nonetheless, I didnt think Iowa would beat another top half Big10 team, so the fact they handled Michigan shows that Iowa was better than I thought. This will obviously get sorted by the end of the year, but I think people's perceptions are far from the actual rankings of the Big Ten teams. It's a wacky year, but I don't think Michigan is any good and Indiana probably finishes only 11-7 or 10-8. Wisconsin is struggling and Illinois is surprisingly coming on. It's a wide open league, but I think by the end of the year these 'upsets' won't be upsets when you look at the final standings. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 06:15 PM) That could still leave plenty of room for b****ing and moaning. Yeah, but it's better than cutting everyone off at 4. It allows for more information about the teams because bowl games are generally good matchups so everyone has an extra chance for a quality win and you can't b**** about being left off when you don't win your bowl game. Honestly, I think a 4-team playoff is a mistake and I'm very pro playoffs. And wtf was with the NCAA president saying a 16-team playoff is too many games on the players' bodies? FCS champ North Dakota State played 15 games this year. Somehow their bodies are more able to handle that? They seriously say the dumbest things all to avoid a playoff. -

Haha this is what happens when Indiana and Illinois fans are both satisfied with their teams. Should be fun on here when the two teams play each other. -

Even with just 10 teams the Big 12 is the second best conference in the country. Texas, OU, TCU, Ok State, heck even West Virginia just won a BCS bowl. I'd like to see the bowls return to the way they were before the BCS and then have a title game that picks the top two teams that won bowl games. That's probably more effective at getting the best two teams in the title than a contrived 4-team playoff. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 03:17 PM) I think they are going to focus on his competition with his uber-hot yet extremely insane wife if I were to guess. I thought the beginning was pretty funny when she was so drugged up she wouldnt even open her eyes That could get old quickly. I think at this point the only reason to keep watching is for Kristin Bell, but I'm not giving this show more than a couple more tries.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 10:34 AM) I dont know if any of you have seen commercials for the new "found footage" movie Chronicle, but I think this might be a sleeper. 3 teenagers acquire superpowers and start to videotape themselves learning how to deal with the power, and one of them goes pretty bad. I think there was some discussion on this movie earlier. Definitely looks like its worth watching. Sure, the downside is pretty large, but the premise is strong.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 11, 2012 -> 09:28 PM) I hate watching Chris Allen play. He seems like he'd be a perfect fit at GT where fathom could get pissed at him. Iowa State shot a better percentage from 3-point land than they did from the free throw line. I can't imagine that happens often outside of a team going 1-1 or 2-2 from 3 and even that's rare. I'm just happy Christopherson is a senior. I don't have to watch him annoy Mizzou in Ames anymore. -
QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 12, 2012 -> 01:31 AM) Our 2015 lineup looks worse than a Triple A lineup. That's because it is one.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 11, 2012 -> 07:52 PM) You really think Martinez and Marinez are better prospects? Silverio is still fairly young (turns 21 in April), has a nice set of physical tools, and is coming off a pretty decent season with the bat. He's obviously a huge long-shot and may not even have a true position (he was beyond terrible at 3B last year), but at least he has some upside if he puts everything together. Moreso than a lot of players in our system. Maybe he shouldn't be in the top 10, but he deserves to be ranked ahead of Martinez and Marinez at least. Marinez yes, but I'm also really down on Silverio to be honest. I'm not sure he has all that much upside. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jan 11, 2012 -> 08:03 PM) I wouldn't have Martinez, Marinez, or Silverio in my top ten. I'd probably have Hector Santiago, Dylan Axelrod, and Erik Johnson replacing them, though not necessarily in that order. The Baseball America list is pretty bad. Agree. None of them would make it. I have Escobar fairly high. His upside is minimal, but his floor is MLB player. In this system that's something. I'd also put Santiago in there. Pretty much in this system it's personal preference after the top handful. Depending on when people saw the players or what stats people like you could see a player like Silverio in a top ten and outside the top 20 in another. Same goes for a lot of prospects in this system.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 11, 2012 -> 06:25 PM) For many parts of the second half, the Illini offense looked the same as always. Shot clock runs down & a guard chucks up a three. BP3 just happened to be hitting every single one last night. Right. I'm not saying Weber did a bad job, but when a guy is on fire like that it's easy to look good as a coach. -
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 11, 2012 -> 05:33 PM) Everyone would like more money to spend, but to me the biggest problem with the farm system is our amateur scouts don't know what a good hitter looks like. Maybe, but they also haven't drafted them very highly for the most part. Sure there's Mitchell and Walker, but the Sox tend to draft more pitchers.

QUOTE (gatnom @ Jan 11, 2012 -> 04:04 PM) If anything, it is that Paddy's arrival is endemic of a much needed change in organizational philosophy. Right. I don't think he's having more impact than Hahn did necessarily, just that things are changing and Paddy's hiring was symbolic of the organization's decision to see change. He's just following through so far.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 11, 2012 -> 09:43 AM) Also, I'm just waiting for FutureSox's I can tell you one thing, Juan Silverio won't be in the top ten. What a joke.
-
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jan 11, 2012 -> 02:56 PM) Indeed. But that is perfectly fine. The depth in the system is awful. They need more signings like this. I'm very happy with it. It's hard to be unhappy with this. As the article notes the Sox haven't done anything like this in a while so a change in philosophy is very encouraging.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 11, 2012 -> 09:24 AM) Yeah, weird to bash Weber because he destroyed Matta last night. Wait really? Brandon Paul has the game of his life, which he will never replicate, it's still a close game and you're complimenting the coach?! Excuse me? -

Honestly, I think you read the rivals or scout boards too much if you think stuff like that is a huge problem. It's a problem because of how awful of a thing it is, but I don't think it happens all that often.
