2011-2012 NCAA Basketball Thread

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 10, 2012 -> 10:19 PM) Has there even been good enough players in the Big 10 the last decade to put up numbers like that? Michigan State not exactly a team that is lead by one superstar. Marco Killingsworth went for 34 and 10 in that Indiana loss to Duke in 05-06. That's the best one off the top of my head, but that's not a Big 10 game and I don't know the B10 well enough to come up with a full list. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 10, 2012 -> 08:51 PM) The amount of effort they put into establishing firmly that they're not trying to move him upwards last year argues for no. Plus, there is reasonable doubt about his ability to hit Major League pitching. I'm not so sure they're wrong to be dismissing him.

QUOTE (sircaffey @ Jan 10, 2012 -> 10:10 PM) Winning on the road in any major conference.............tough. Fixed. The Big Ten is not special in this regard, which brings me to my next point. Baylor is underrated. After their win at K State there's no good explanation for having them below Kentucky and North Carolina in the rankings. -

QUOTE (farmteam @ Jan 10, 2012 -> 10:07 PM) Pretty sure no one expected Ohio State to lose twice in their first five conference games. It's to the point where they're just not as good as we think they are. When Sullinger leaves the game they play like a freaking NIT team. It's bizarre. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 10, 2012 -> 05:50 PM) His coaching has been on par with his predecessors, but things not W-L related have put him in a bad spot with ND fans. The kids death at practice, the girls suicide after she was supposedly raped by a player(nothing proved), his sideline demeanor and foul language being caught on camera constantly. Kelly has had a rough go his first few seasons. I also think the fanbase does not like his little quarterback rotation game either. Good points. ND needs to change its image as coach ruiners though. -

People already don't like Kelly? Surely he's done OK. -
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 01:58 AM) Really? I thought it pretty boring. I didn't like the whole idea of how he stops and talks to the camera. I agree. I'll give it another shot, but that part annoyed me. Hopefully they don't rely on it in the future. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 06:33 AM) And I want to see Kristen Bell get naked This, totally this.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 8, 2012 -> 07:25 PM) Tackle the damn guy. He went 80 bloody yards. I think the rule is as good as it can be. Better htan the artificial college starting points, and if this game started on a touchback, the Broncos could have gone 35 yards and kicked a FG to win. It's not as simple as tackle him. Denver had the ball. Pittsburgh didn't. How is that better than anything? -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 8, 2012 -> 07:07 PM) The Steelers have no business getting the ball now. Why not? If the Steelers won the kickoff and scored you'd say Denver would have no business getting the ball. Style points have never mattered in the NFL because it's decided on the field. It's a crappy rule and you're 100% wrong. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 7, 2012 -> 03:48 PM) The 2012 edition looks like a 25 win team, the 2011 edition looked like a 15 win team. I think you're underestimating how bad A&M is right now. Banged up and struggling. But hey, hard to win there so that's nice. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 2, 2012 -> 11:37 PM) Always remember...college kickers suck. Yeah I don't understand why so many college coaches rely on kickers at the end of games. Stanford had 3 timeouts and plenty of time to take a shot at the end zone or at least try to run for the first down. -

QUOTE (Capn12 @ Jan 2, 2012 -> 09:10 PM) I love how Bo Pellini, a tremendous douchenozzle btw, thinks his team was the 'better' team today, despite being held scoreless for the last 47.5 minutes. I don't know how any high school kid actually wants to play for that guy. -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 1, 2012 -> 10:59 PM) Also, DeMarcus Cousins demanded a trade. What a b****. So unsurprising. The Kings were absolute idiots for drafting him that high. There was no way he was going to behave.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 1, 2012 -> 04:17 PM) If the intent of that move was truly to clear salary, then Frasor never should have been a target. The odds are the Sox couldn't dump all 10 mill so Frasor had to go the other way. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 1, 2012 -> 06:01 PM) How can anyone complain about this move? Sox didn't have a need for Fraser and got two guys with some potential. They aren't can't miss but who in the world would exPect that in this type of deal. Nice job Kenny. Yeah, it's not the most notable move, but that doesn't mean it's not a positive move. I understand people are frustrated by previous mistakes that these moves necessary, but I can't find fault with any of the moves that have been made this offseason.

Considering the crappy way the refs called this game the whole way through, Craft was fouled on the drive on a reach in. Not that I expect the refs to make a call against the home team in the last minute, but that was pretty bad. The refs made this a terrible game to watch. -
I like this trade. Castro has a good arm from the sound of it. I was never a big fan of Quentin to be honest though.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 30, 2011 -> 12:14 AM) Try to look at this and not laugh http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=313630239 It's one of the most exciting games I've ever seen and I watched it on ESPN3 after I knew the score. I can't imagine watching that live and constantly being blown away by the scoring. Baylor doesn't have a ton of talent, but it's ALL on offense. -
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 29, 2011 -> 10:19 PM) New Top Gear special: India! Some of the best television around, the Top Gear specials are not to be missed. The top 40 countdown marathons were good viewing. I disagree with the rankings, but they've done a lot of good stuff on there.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Dec 29, 2011 -> 02:34 PM) Aw come on, that's Wade signature move, just like LBJ's three step spin move... (green text) Welcome to the NBA. They let stuff go all the time.

Sickels - Chicago White Sox Top 20 Prospects for 2012

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 29, 2011 -> 10:51 AM) Pretty awful that our 1st round pick from a year ago is not even in the top 10. Kind of scary. I do realize he's considered a "hit or miss" prospect but still. And no, I'm not writing him off. Just thought it was very interesting that a guy we invested a 1st round pick in isn't in the top 10. At the same time he was a supplemental pick. I don't think those guys are as often locks to be in the top 10. Josh Phegley for example. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 29, 2011 -> 11:32 AM) For what it's worth, a month or two ago I asked Kevin Goldstein if I should give up on Jared Mitchell yet, and he responded with an emphatic no. Seems to have heard some good things coming from instructs at the time. The clock is indeed ticking though. I could see Mitchell exploding or I could see him continuing to struggle mightily. I'm kind of hoping for one or another. If he shows moderate progress we'll go into another year or wondering if he will get it going. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 29, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) this blew my mind btw: http://www.columbiatribune.com/weblogs/beh...rewell-to-2011/ Statistically Gabbert wasn't that good, but you could see the potential. I think he has a shot to be a decent NFL QB, but he's got a ways to go and being on that s*** team in Jacksonville isn't helping his development. -

That makes 3 years in a row at A&M. Guess we'll have to make it 3 wins in a row. I can't decide if I should make Georgia or Alabama my travel game. Georgia is the bigger game and a more likely win so I'm leaning towards that.
