  1. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 23, 2012 -> 01:57 PM) So many good matchups in the quarterfinals. With how well Berdych is playing, I wouldn't be surprised to see him beat Rafa, but I also wouldn't be shocked if Rafa won in 3 easy sets. I think DelPo has a much better chance against Fed. With the Aussie crowd going to be very anti-Berdych he doesn't have a chance. Plus he's not playing that well. He needed 4 sets and 3 tiebreakers last round. Doesn't get much closer than that.
  2. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 23, 2012 -> 02:10 PM) Yeah, I just still cant imagine putting KU with a loss at home to Davidson over Missouri who just beat Baylor @ Baylor. KU might not even have a top 25 road win. This only matters a little, but the Davidson game was semi-home in KC.
  3. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 23, 2012 -> 01:55 PM) KU has better power numbers though that is obviously skewed beating OSU w/o Sully. Overall, MU's resume is much more impressive to me but at the moment Kansas has the numbers advantage. Plus there's the 'they're Kansas' factor. It's reminds me of football season except for the fact that it all gets sorted by the end of the season. How nice.
  4. Is Cuse really losing to Notre Dame? What happened to the awful ND team earlier in the year?
  5. Well Mizzou certainly looks like a contender for everything all of a sudden. Even up until this game it was hard to see them winning the Big 12 or making a Final 4 because of their lack of depth inside. However, if you can win at Baylor (coaching aside) you can beat just about anyone IMO.
  6. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 21, 2012 -> 02:40 PM) This is why Baylor is absolutely no threat to go all the way. Good teams will punish them. Haith is destroying Drew in the coaching department. I'll give you some credit on that. I'm just wondering where Jones is. This is the most fun I've had watching a college basketball game since Mizzou beat Memphis in the Sweet 16 in 09. Phil Pressey is putting on a SHOW.
  7. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jan 21, 2012 -> 02:23 PM) Fair enough. And Balta, I'm probably with you on the next year point too. I'm just saying, if they collapse and end up in the NIT, it will be extremely hard to take. Don't see that happening though. It's not that unlikely. Before the Nebraska loss, give or take 10-8 was the expected conference record. That still could be true, but getting a winning record in the Big Ten won't be easy for IU. 9-9 probably gets them in on the strength of their quality wins and a few extra spots this year, but 8-10 really shouldn't. It's certainly possible.
  8. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 10:07 PM) I hope your not calling me an Illinois fan. Nah, Krush et al vs. He Gawn and farmteam. I agree with you about Crean vs. Weber. Crean's track record is mediocre and extending him when IU did was moronic, but they were comfortable letting the program not exist for 3 seasons.
  9. I'm just gonna get the popcorn while the IU and U of I fans go back and forth.
  10. Fastball velo can go a long way and as some of the publications are catching on to, the Sox have done a decent job developing guys with that profile.
  11. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 08:43 AM) Also Illinois guys, have any of you seen Kendall Stephens play for St. Charles East I believe it is? Purdue fans thinking he's the next big thing or some crap. Haven't heard the same, I think their full of s***. Heard he plays in a pro-football area and not a lot of basketball competition. I haven't seen him, but their schedule is very bad and their W-L against that schedule is unimpressive so odds are you're right.
  12. QUOTE (Cali @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 01:11 PM) Apologies if this has ever already been discussed...too many pages to look through haha This has been bugging me for a while after reading various tech blogs... When it comes to TV/Movies Physical Media is still the best option. I love me some Netflix Streaming and Hulu and I'm sure I'll love whatever other Cloud-based streaming services that come out in the future, but until ALL of those services have EVERYTHING that's ever come out on home video and streams/hosts them FOREVER and ever (never losing the rights to certain blah blah), streams them is crystal clear High-Def/Highest Quality picture and Audio and includes Commentary and Special Features, until that happens Physical Discs are better. The picture and sound is a big issue cause I'm a bit of a snob, but the availability thing is what will stop the "death" of Discs. I'm willing to bet only a 1/4 (if that) of my collection is available online. That's a deal breaker. I can't argue with that and it's why I ditched Netflix streaming and just have the disc subscriptions. That brings me to something I want to ask people here. Who has a Roku and what do you think of it? I'm thinking about getting one, piling up a few subscriptions (sports packages, Netflix) and ditching cable. Would I be crazy to do so?
  13. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 08:34 PM) For the most part the reason they arent doing well is terrible shooting. Im pretty sure in the losses to Iowa/MSU they were combined something like 5-50 from 3. In other games theyve shot 40-50% from 3. Only against Marquette did Wisconsin look slow, they had a chance to beat UNC @ UNC. That's not a very good selling point for a team. "When we shoot 40-50% from 3 we're good." You could say that about any team in basketball history.
  14. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 08:29 PM) Wisconsin always looks slow because of the way they play. Almost no dribble drive and they play man to man on defense with help coming from the middle. That being said, this is not one of my favorite teams in terms of players. Tempo is one thing, but I was referring to loose balls and such. Still expect them to win this game, but I can see why they're not having their typical success this season.
  15. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 08:21 PM) Dont worry Wisconsin will go 10 minutes without scoring to make sure this game is in the 50s. I'm stunned by their lack of quickness so far. NU never looks like the quicker team once Big Ten play starts and they're running circles around Wisconsin early. Is Wisconsin that unathletic or are they just flat so far?
  16. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 07:56 PM) Ouch, Hoosiers. Looking ahead to Illini? Suddenly Indiana fans need to readjust their expectations to just make the tourney. This team has a long way to go to get there.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 03:31 PM) As a whole, I'd put them on about even par with each other. As far as NCAA-level teams go, Big East still has more guns, as far as I can see. The Big East has 6 teams in the RPI top 20 and Louisville kind of wandering in 'if they figure it out' territory. The Big Ten has 6 in the top 26 and 9 in the top 50. In terms of top-heavy, the Big East probably wins because Ohio State has been a minor disappointment, but in terms of tournament teams in the Big Ten wins.
  18. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jan 17, 2012 -> 07:25 PM) That would be no better than what we have now. What happens when there are three teams that win their bowl games and all deserve a shot? Or what about years where there is one clear cut best team? Make them play again? You could at some point have four teams that seem pretty equal or one team that is clear cut and 3 or 4 others with little or any separation behind them. Any plus one simply has to be the top four ranked teams 1 v 4 & 2 v 3. It's not necessarily better in all scenarios, but it's certainly not worse and I find it to be more realistic. With all the complicated BS, I've given up on a playoff that pleases everyone. I think this is a simple, feasible system that in certain years provides an improvement. It's not a perfect world system. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jan 17, 2012 -> 07:27 PM) 12 game regular season, conference championship, four rounds of playoffs. Two teams would play 17 and four would play 16 in that scenario. Adding the 12th game a few years ago really made it difficult to put together anything more than a final four. Is that so different from 15 though? Where's the line of too many games? Teams in NCAA football play 15 already and that's not deemed too many. It's convenient that the line of too many is just more than what a different level already has.
  19. Looks like something I've done the last two years, not that it's the most creative idea. 2011 2010

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 09:30 PM) No, no, he can handle that (it's the truth) but question his intellect and he'll put you in your place. I'm concerned how you know this...and no one questioned his intellect.
  21. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 09:02 PM) Ten minutes in, but Kansas looks like they could destroy Baylor if the Bears don't figure out what the f*** they are doing soon. EDIT: They figured it out. Ha don't doubt Baylor. So freaking long and talented. Playing in Kansas is brutal, but I'm still confident that Baylor is the better team.
  22. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 11:35 AM) certainly not awesome, but workable, and moving in the right direction. That might be the most accurate and concise description of Thompson possible. BP's Kevin Goldstein came out with his Sox list. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article....articleid=15761

QUOTE (Felix @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 04:36 PM) Ignorant: Lacking knowledge or awareness in general; uneducated or unsophisticated That's still not stupid, but I'm not going to argue someone about the definition of a word. You're just wrong, that's all.

QUOTE (Felix @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 04:20 PM) I'm mostly arguing over the fact that people who don't like the show are instantly ignorant. That's just stupid. Oh throw a fit. I didn't call you stupid. Get over it.
