QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 09:34 AM) Barring a run in the Big Ten tourney, I concur. So many close losses too, what a bummer. I was hoping to get the chance to root for NU in the tourney, since the only exciting thing about the Illini is the hunt for next year's head coach. Bill Carmody is the Vinny Del Negro of college coaches. Watch him coach and you think he's terrible in-game, but look at the results vs. the talent and you can't really complain overall. Seems like this team could have won at least two more instead of dropping basically every game that came down to the last minute. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 09:11 AM) They just barely beat Niles West in the first round. I wasn't overly impressed with NT the 3 times I saw them this year. Proviso was down this year. I can't argue with any of that, but they're still not playing as well as they did earlier in the year.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 06:38 AM) It really isnt, the scripts are out there in the form of many many comic books. I am pretty sure when The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man were filmed in 08, Marvel had a Avengers idea in mind, so they basically gave themselves 4 years and 5 movies leading up to it so they could get it right. That isnt to say that they cannot screw it up, because they certainly can. I'm probably going to get killed for this, but just because they made comics doesn't mean the stories didn't completely suck. It still remains very difficult to mesh that many lead characters together, no matter what you have to work with.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Feb 29, 2012 -> 03:44 PM) Dempsey is having a hell of a year. Bradley played well. Back line needs to still do some work on not biting on the attacker running up the middle. Nice goal by Dempsey in the 55th minute. 1-0 USA over Italy Yeah, if the Italian forwards timed their runs better it could have been 3 or 4 to 1 for them. That said, the US d deserves some credit for drawing the offsides. It's not really a big win though. It's just a friendly. For all the people that overreacted to the earlier losses, they shouldn't be overreacting to this win either. -
That Avengers trailer looks cool, but that's a really tough project. The lead up movies have all been good (other than Captain America, meh) so I'm still looking forward to it, but it's very hard to throw all these developed characters together and have a good story. Then again, I'd be happy if it was just a 90-minute fight scene with all those superheroes.

The West Coast Conference has done that format with 8 teams. I like it. It favors the top seeds as they earned and gives the other teams at least a playing chance. Gus' call on that Marcutullio tying three was hilarious. I played it back a few times on the DVR and laughed every time. He's such a parody of himself. -
QUOTE (farmteam @ Feb 29, 2012 -> 06:34 PM) Is New Trier in the playoffs/have they been decent? Shows how much I follow it. I've covered them a few times this year. They're one of the better teams around, or at least they were. They've hit some sort of wall lately. They started something like 18-2 and made the final at Proviso West, but lost three in a row to start February, lost the conference title and barely avoided a couple more upsets since. They're the top seed in the sectional though so who knows.

It all depends on the draw obviously, but the 5-12 matchup usually springs an upset or 2. -

Too bad the tournament isn't played there. IU goes out in the first round IMO. -
Mitchell back to Winston-Salem would be a bad sign. Not that I'm questioning the Sox judgment, but he's probably not all that much improved if they're having him repeat the level.

Can't believe I'm posting about girls in here, but undefeated Whitney Young just knocked out 3-time defending champ Bolingbrook in 4 OTs. Both teams are in the top 10 nationally and Bolingbrook has a UConn recruit. 4 freaking OTs!

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 02:41 PM) I hate the 4 classes. I usually go to Peoria for the finals and it has sucked since it went to 4. I can see wanting to ditch the Saturday doubleheaders, but having four quarterfinals on Friday was a special thing. It's not like they opened up more teams to go to state, they just give out more trophies. 16 teams still go to state in total and that's the real prize for many schools and their fans.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 01:32 PM) Absolutely. When the guy is talking about his ankle still healing when you get to the off-season, it is very telling. I'm not saying we should bail on him, but what else is he going to say? That his ankle isn't like what it used to be and his career is hopeless? Of course he's going to be optimistic in a quote.

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 06:54 AM) How many classes does Indiana ball have? Not a fan of 4 classes although 4A could be fun this year. I wish they'd go down to 3. I can see why they wanted more than 2, but 4 is a bit much, just like 8 is too much for football.

QUOTE (juddling @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 10:33 PM) Two weeks in a row of a entertaining Walking Dead. It's always nice to see the 'Walkers' show up (zombies....not Greg...though Greg IS in Atlanta now....lol) It was nice for a change to see the two most annoying characters (Andrea and Lori) say to each other what needed to be said to each other. Andrea was very annoying this week. She had been more acceptable, but the whole 'I went through this so I know exactly what she's thinking and I'm qualified to handle this' was stupid. Top class violence this week though. It's devolving into a soap opera, but when Rick shot through the mouth of a dead zombie to shoot another zombie and then you could see his gun through the dead zombie's head...fantastic.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 10:00 PM) I've really enjoyed both episodes of Life's Too Short. Liam Neeson last week was amazing. Johnny Depp tonight was great too. I liked Depp and Neeson, but the rest of the episodes are hard to get through.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 08:12 PM) Will Smith was originally pegged for the lead role but Jamie Foxx was ultimately cast. That's a major downgrade.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 01:22 PM) I thought he clearly got bumped before the shot, not as sure on the shot. I tend to think Shurna doesn't miss it that bad unless he was hit though. I think Shurna got a star call to be honest. I didn't see the contact until multiple replays, but I agree that he wouldn't miss that badly without contact. That's a star call. Who'd have thought Northwestern would have a guy capable of getting one of those? Hey, at least it wasn't decided on a reach-in foul like a certain game in Lawrence yesterday. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Feb 25, 2012 -> 02:42 PM) We're going dancing b****es! Yep, good win. K State is mediocre. I'm still furious and embarrassed about Tuesday. -
QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Feb 23, 2012 -> 02:57 PM) My wife bases a lot of her tastes on textures. She doesn't like beans because they are too gritty. She doesn't like yogurt with fruit in it because it's too slimy. She can't stand soggy cereal. I don't really care about the texture as long as it tastes OK. Don't mind beans, but I agree with the other two.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 23, 2012 -> 02:42 PM) That's why they included the option that if you qualify for the following season's Champions League as a senior, you gain an extra year of eligibility to play in the next season. Which is contrived and a bit lame. Players are still going to go to the NBA so the players staying would only be second tier, at best, players. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 23, 2012 -> 06:49 AM) College football & basketball are practically pro sports in todays age anyway. That's not the point. I'm referring to the fact that college players are 1-4 year rentals and right when they're at their best they leave. Obviously there's player movement in pro sports, but for the most part you are able to get compensation for a player in the form of a trade or at the very least open cap space. If you're qualifying for the 2013 'Champions League' in the 2012 season it kind of screws things up in college. -
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Feb 22, 2012 -> 10:06 PM) Hmmm, never tried the toaster oven. How long would you recommend? It's more or less a few minutes. Depends on the pizza. Obviously a thicker one takes longer.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 22, 2012 -> 10:19 PM) Win one of those, and they are a lock. Lose all three, and depending on what Texas and KSU do, they may need to make a showing in the B12 Tourney to get a bid. Isn't this what I said a couple weeks ago and you refuted?
