  1. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 28, 2011 -> 11:27 AM) Haven't read any of them, and probably won't. They were also (subtitled) movies that were damn good. Those books are pretty far down my list of things to read so I may never get to them, but almost everyone knows the story by now one way or another.
  2. QUOTE (Boogua @ Dec 27, 2011 -> 09:06 PM) It didn't look like there was contact. It was really hard to tell. I don't think they can make a game changing call like that when it was pretty inconclusive. There was definitely contact, but I don't see how any rule should allow that to be flagrant. His elbow swung in sync with the ball. He wasn't flailing and there was no intent.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 27, 2011 -> 08:47 PM) He's a decent shooter when he's not fading away trying to show the scouts he can play in the NBA. I don't care how good of a shooter he is. He showed no urgency with the shot clock winding down and then took a fairly poor shot.
  4. Paul didn't deserve that 3. He was dribbling backwards with 6 on the shot clock and then decides 'f it' and it goes. Must be nice...
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 27, 2011 -> 03:25 PM) Nebraska basketball is the most awful team to play against. It will be a slow plodding game. You won't beat them by a lot b/c they won't let you have the ball a lot of possessions. I refuse to watch them play basketball. Ain't that the truth. They always had Mizzou's number (relatively) too.
  6. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 27, 2011 -> 12:50 PM) Wisconsin at Nebraska for their Big 10 opener. All reports indicate Nebraska is better than youd expect. That's kind of their MO. They're not going to post a winning record in the league, but they won't be a bottom feeder. They can scrap a few good wins as well.
  7. I love pro combat jerseys. They aren't all winners, but they're always drastically different and I like that.
  8. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Dec 26, 2011 -> 10:47 PM) Did any of the Sox prospects play Winter Ball and have any type of respectable showing? Here's a quick list of guys I found on milb.com players searches: Dominican: Marinez, Silverio Puerto Rico: Leesman, Ozzie Martinez, Santiago, Jones, Remenowsky Venezuela: Infante, Escobar, Jose Martinez Leesman and Santiago put up OK numbers, but for the most part forgettable.
  9. This opener is a lose-lose, but it's fantastic to see the Knicks completely crumble like this. What a meltdown.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Dec 23, 2011 -> 12:26 AM) Just started watching Boss. After 1 episode, I am not sure about it. As trivial as this sounds, the White Sox references (Kenny being on the show, Kelsey wearing a Sox hat) may actually keep with the show for at least a couple more episodes. I really hate politics, and I fear this show may be too political and boring for me. I do like the storyline of the daughter so far, but all the talk about the airport being built on Indian grounds was putting me to sleep. I was kind of where you were after the first episode. I bailed after 3 or 4. It just didn't pull me in and had a couple dumb moments.
  11. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 22, 2011 -> 10:07 PM) They're like 17 of 19 in this game. Odds are better you make a defensive stop and go for the tie than have to do that twice. Right, but Missouri had made some dumb decisions in the final 10 minutes. Put them under pressure and in a chance to make the mistake. Really, the only way Illinois comes back is if Missouri makes a mental mistake in the last 40 seconds. Give them more chances to do that.
  12. QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 22, 2011 -> 10:03 PM) It was kind of a battle of implosions down the stretch so I wouldn't count this as over quite yet. Ok phew. Gotta say I don't like Illinois neglecting to foul down 3. Pressing is the obvious call, but after that do you really like your chances down 3 with 12 seconds if you get a stop? I guess Weber respected Missouri's free throw shooting, but you gotta extend the game.
  13. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 22, 2011 -> 10:02 PM) jesus. Illinois imploding. Well, they didn't get blown out, so i'll take the loss. They hung in there until a minute to go. It was kind of a battle of implosions down the stretch so I wouldn't count this as over quite yet.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 22, 2011 -> 09:43 PM) Missouri could not be playing dumber basketball over the last 5 minutes. Ratlliffe playing he has money on the Illini. Yeah that was an odd stretch of basketball. Still, the way the game has gone Missouri just needs to get their heads right and they should still win.
  15. Could happen, but after what we saw this year you could easily make a case for Barkley as the best QB of that group.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 22, 2011 -> 08:26 PM) Missouri reminds me of the awesome Illinois team with Deron/Dee/Head That's funny because I never thought of that until I read someone else say that tonight. It's actually a pretty good comparison, but I'm not sure Phil Pressey is quite as good as Deron Williams. Denmon can certainly be the Dee Brown and I think they have enough other shooters to cover the Luther Head spot. I don't remember what Illinois had inside, but I'm sure Missouri isn't as deep in the front court and that's probably the biggest difference.
  17. I don't know, Steve, that sounds kind of awesome.
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 20, 2011 -> 02:08 PM) But being undersized doesn't really matter as long as Mizzou keeps it's insane shooting going, as Leonard can't just roam the wing to block guys. It's still the toughest team Mizzou will have played to date. I'm confident, but I think I was scarred a bit by the streak to be very confident.
  19. QUOTE (farmteam @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 11:41 PM) Kansas lost to Davidson at Phog Allen? Really? Is Davidson that good this year? It was at the Sprint Center in KC.
  20. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Dec 18, 2011 -> 07:07 PM) I opined on Sucker Puynch in this thread a few months back, thought it was very entertaining. I watched it again a couple weeks ago and it had definitely lost its appeal for me. It was fun the first time around but watching it again definitely exposed its flaws; I now see why many people thought it was bad. I guess, but worst movie of the year? The fact that you enjoyed it the first time says enough.
  21. The Tribune's Michael Phillips came out with his best and worst movies of the year. For some reason Sucker Punch was his pick for worst. I thought Sucker Punch was pretty good. Visually appealing with a different style. Not sure how anyone could think it was that bad.
  22. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 18, 2011 -> 08:24 AM) Has nothing to do with Warren. even though they are a top 5 team in the state this year. Actually saw GBN play Waukegan earlier this year and noticed no crying and was surprised. Not too mention some of the fans at the games and their sense of entitlement is hilarious. GBN isn't the only programin the state like that, I am sure. And with the amount of talent GBN has had the last 20 years, to only win 1 state title is nothing to brag about. Sense of entitlement is everywhere. Crying was probably just specific to one or two players. I don't know what you mean by all the talent they've had the in last 20 years. They ran into Derrick Rose and Jereme Richmond with talented teams. I don't think they've performed below the level of talent.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 04:17 PM) NW had a close game with Central Conn. St. I'd love for them to finally make the tourney, but I'm thinking that 9-1 record is a mirage. What's their best win, G-Tech? Seton Hall? They played one good team and got run out of their own gym. Sounds an awful lot like Illinois' resume to me. It's hard to know a lot about a team at this point in the year. Even teams that tried to play tough schedules don't end up with good out of conference schedules. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 06:37 PM) Alex was one of the biggest babies I ever saw play high school basketball. But he did go to Glenbrook North afterall. Dude wtf? Just because GBN has something Warren won't ever get (a state title) doesn't mean you have to take a cheap shot.
  24. Classic trap game unfolding for IU. Notre Dame has something to prove after a dreadful start to the season and IU is coming off its biggest win in years. Good to see the local kid Dragicevich doing well.
  25. This trailer popped up on my PS3 and I'm very intrigued. Hopefully it gets good reviews. Naughty Dog already has a good rep though so I'm optimistic.
