QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 05:32 PM) Heisman finalists are Luck, Richardson, Griffin, Mathieu, & Ball. In other news, I'm an idiot, lol. After what people said on here that sounds accurate to me. I think the only reason Mathieu got invited is that none of the hyped players had Heisman years. Ball and Griffin got late hype and weren't on top 5 teams. Of those 5 I'd go Griffin, Mathieu, Ball, Richardson, Luck in that order. Not sure I'd even put Luck in my top 5, but too lazy to replace a 5th place vote lol. -

Heisman anyone? Haven't really heard enough about it, but it's the closest race I can remember. To me, it comes down to Griffin and Mathieu. -

QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 11:38 AM) Sorry for being a dick as well, but his act was sooooo old. Further, the manipulation of stats to justify his election became comical. The vocal majority of his proponents were young fans who never saw him play but found a way to crunch numbers that resurrected an argument that should have been put to rest after 15 failed years on the ballot. Doesn't it seem rude that they voted him in now? Like 'yeah, you can be in the HoF when you're dead and buried.' It's a slap in the face to vote him in now. They should have just let him stay out. -

QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 12:22 PM) i don't get what those few people say about if bama wins the championship game then LSU should still be considered the champion. So if the bears get swept by the packers this season then somehow go on to win the super bowl, are the packers still the champions because they were 1st in the NFC North AND swept the bears? Or are the bears the champions because they won the CHAMPIONSHIP game. Im trying to understand the logic here. If bama beats lsu, people are only going to remember bama raising the national championship, not lsu winning strictly due to an inept alabama kicking game during the regular season. You can't compare a playoff to a one-off system. A playoff isn't about the best team winning, it's about a team beating everyone put in front of them in the playoffs resulting in a title. A one-off is about the best two teams playing for the title THEN beating the team in front of you. In a playoff like the NFL, Ok State would be able to settle it on the field and no one cares. -

QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 08:15 AM) If you want to say the Penn St win is overrated then the same can easily be said for OSU wins against Kansas St, Texas and TAMU. Who rates Texas and ATM as good teams anymore? Anyway, the reason why Ok State should be in is because under this system we only have one game to determine the champion. After the regular season there is one game to prove who the best was. LSU already has a solid claim that it's better than Bama. They won in Bama. If Bama doesn't get in, they can't complain because they had their shot against No. 1. Ultimately I think Bama keeps the game closer than Ok State would, but just because they are a better match up for that style. If Bama wins, we don't have a clear national champ and that's a big problem. If Ok State and LSU play there is no controversy. -

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 09:50 PM) You guys must hate pitcher's duels too. So baseball is no fun without 10-12 runs? What one touchdown is too much to ask? The last game didn't have one freaking touchdown! Not one! That's like a 1-0 baseball game going 10 innings. -
Yeah more than a walk an inning is 'a bit' wild. Man, it must be tough to watch foreign rookie ball. Some of the stats in those leagues are out of this world.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 05:04 PM) I don't get the SEC hate on here. It's completely undeserved, unlike the Notre Dame hate which is understandable (though, to clarify, I'm not a ND-hater. I like ND. But I also understand why some don't). Winning 5 national championships in a row says it all. It's just my opinion, but I think there's no doubt that Alabama is a better team than Oklahoma St. They both have one loss. With that said, I also would have liked to see LSU-OKST in the championship b/c LSU-Bama already played... and b/c LSU would stomp OK ST and shut up the haters even more. No matter what happens, the SEC is about to win it's 6th straight BCS Championship. Unreal. I don't think anyone is hating on the SEC. They're hating on a rematch of what was an atrocious game in the first place. No one argues the SEC's quality, but often times is awful football to watch. -

I think Luka Mirkovic is a double agent working against Northwestern. Man he sucks. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 10:19 AM) impossible. We all know the Sox don't sign in Latin America. Well in fairness $125,000 doesn't really register much of a blip when sites like BA report the foreign signings. The Sox sign players and due to the unpredictable nature of scouting players from Latin America, you're going to find some talent for cheap. However, the Sox have been criticized for not spending. This guy doesn't do anything to change that perception.

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 04:18 PM) If they called that, there'd be 100 turnovers a game. Brandon Paul was doing it all day in the Illinois game, and I was happy they didn't call it. I understand that, but players wouldn't do it if they weren't allowed to. It just looks ugly to me. -

Nice comeback for Xavier on Purdue. Down 16 late in the second half and Holloway went nuts from 3. I noticed that Holloway carries the ball on every dribble though. I wish they would call that. -
QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 01:34 PM) She was conflicted about the drugs because she's a priest. She f***ed him so that she could save the clinic. They needed drugs and he had them. Yeah I didn't buy that so I stopped watching the show.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 02:23 PM) If he was a second round talent, surely some team with a decent working relationship with Boras would have snapped him up before round 7. That's not how the draft works unfortunately. Or I guess I should say worked. The changes made to the draft may not allow for many more picks like Jordan in round 7.

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 04:13 AM) Wow. s***'s coming down on Boss. I bailed on that show once the drug addict stopped halfway into setting herself up for her drug fix so she could be f***ed by her creepy dealer. No addict gets that far only to say nah, I'd rather get laid right now.

It's interesting that no one here seems to value Jordan yet multiple people are certain he will be taken. So either MLB teams value him as a 25-man roster player or he has no value. Which is it? I'd be surprised if someone took him, though not shocked. I'd be shocked if he stuck on a 25-man roster for a full season though.

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 02:28 PM) this is getting me really excited. Mizzou won't release a schedule because I think they're still in the 'can get sued' range. However, there is a rumor of their possible SEC schedule (in no order): Home against Kentucky, Vandy, UGA, A&M. At S. Car, Florida, Tenn, Ole Miss. -

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 01:53 PM) Uh, we went to the SEC Championship in '07 and blew a 4th quarter lead to eventual National Champion LSU or else would have gone to the Sugar Bowl that year. But yeah, I am expecting our best season since then. We had 3 senior starters this year. We had, I think, 4 seniors that started 2 years ago. That's a young team. So I think it is fair to expect a lot of improvement next year with much of the 2-deep comprised of Juniors and Sophomores rather than Sophomores and Freshman like this year. And I'm talking about Tennessee's schedule specifically. I won't argue that the Big 12 teams, as a whole, had tougher schedules than SEC teams. But Tennessee's schedule was freaking tough. 2012-2007=5 years -

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 11:03 AM) Well, if you bothered to watch Tennessee this year, you'd know we lost our 2 best players and true playmakers for the entire season, and Bray missed 5 games so we were playing with s*** at QB. And we played the toughest schedule in the entire nation, including the #1, 2, and 3 ranked teams. Plus, the whole 2-deep is freshman and sophomores, which doesn't mean they're going to be better but they better darn well be. But yes, the Kentucky loss has no excuse. That was a terrible game. Should have won 6 games this year. No reason not to. As for next year, UT fans always have unrealistic expectations (being a Top 10 program of all time will do that to your fanbase), but 8 wins is a must. No doubt about it. If Dooley doesn't get 8, he's gone. The way I see it, we should win all of our non-conference games. Add wins against Miss St, Vandy, Kentucky, and that's 7 wins. All we need is to upset one of Florida (who is really down), Georgia, Bama, or Missouri and that's 8 wins. Doesn't seem all that unrealistic. So you're expecting the program's best year in 5 years? I don't see it. Tennessee hasn't been good for a while. I'm not expecting it to turn around magically. FYI the Big 12 had the toughest schedules in the country (1-10 in the Sagarin ratings in fact) because the conference was much deeper than the SEC and the Big 12 played an extra conference game. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 09:05 PM) This is about money not some trophy, those teams are going to be involved the first year. Yeah, but I'm not sure what kind of schedule agreements are already in place. I don't know many ACC schools that will be asking out of this or would happily give their spot away. -
I think that's a good move. I was on a junior high soccer team with a similar player. He was talented and a ball hog, but at least he wasn't a dick to the rest of us like this kid was. I ended up having an argument with him instead of the coach because the coach wouldn't do anything. Usually the best place for the talented ball hogs is forward because most people want to push forward naturally. Put him anywhere else and he'll probably play more out of position. Plus I'd rather have a forward that plays too deep than a defender that goes forward too much. Obviously this part of the issue is less important, but I'll throw my two cents in.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 08:30 PM) Id imagine that after ACC expands Big 10 wont be winning many. Depends on how they do it with the uneven number of teams. Seems pretty unfair for the Big Ten to have all 12 play and the ACC with the ability to drop a couple teams. Maybe Pitt and Cuse won't join in immediately. -

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 06:44 PM) Ron Zook was an upgrade at the time the state of Illini football was in a real bad spot. Zook actually did leave the program in a better condition than what he walked into and I think that might help them land a better coach this time around. People seem to have a lot of confidence in the knew AD making a good hire too, I don't know much about him but hoping for the best. I don't see any reason why Illinois can't be a similar school to Missouri with the right coach. Yeah, you gotta feel good about what Zook did overall. I'm sure he was frustrating because his talent was better than his W-L most years, but his W-L was still an improvement.
