  1. This is always fun to look back and remember that Baseball is a funny sport with wacky rules. It only seems fitting that the Sox are featured in three weird happenings from last season considering how goofy our season went. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor...&id=2710549
  2. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 11:39 AM) And the next time you call me out like this, we'll exchange phone numbers and arrange a meeting...... May I suggest the Pink Palace motel in Bedford Park? Ask for the "Space Shuttle" room!
  3. QUOTE(wallyburger @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 08:52 AM) Keny trades away Ozzie's nephew. Ozzie is pissed off. Kenny trades away the pitcher Ozzie hates. Ozzie feels better now. Yes...I'm sure that's exactly how you run a Multi-Million dollar sports franchise.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 10:16 AM) I know you are new, and you pretty much post for only a couple of reasons, and the main one is to try to piss people off, but maybe if you shut up for a while, and pay attention you would learn a little something. This board has been around for over 4 years now, and if you had asked, instead of assuming, based on your own ego, you would know that there are people on this board, who have access to information on a regular basis, that the rest of us can only dream about. Assuming it is wrong, just because you don't have first hand access to it, is just ignorant on your behalf, but at the sametime, it isn't really surprising here, just knowing your posts... Just open your mind a little bit, and you might learn something about the resources you have right in front of your closed eyes. Plushie Patrol!! QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 10:33 AM) Or, perhaps you are giving some of the people here who claim to have "inside knowledge" too much credit. The people here who have real "inside knowledge" get the credit they derserve. Because they have been honest, candid and accurate. They have not been posturing, negative reactionists.
  5. Football is number 1 in this town. Every other sport might as well be #88 in comparison.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 19, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) Probably something pretty close to the second figure. We are still in the "vision" stage of determining what our "dreams" are before we start to figure out what they would cost, but a really loose estimate was $1-$2 million. I haven't been to the board of directors meeting yet, or to talk to the finance committee, so I have no real idea of the logisitics here. I was at the facilities committee meeting last night, and we had just started talking about what we wanted to do to transform a mid 1960's facility into something for the 21st century. Mike, feel free to message me. As a Managing Director of a Theatre I am highly involved in our Fundraising and Giving programs.
  7. Is this about getting new poles installed at the Industrial Strip in NW Indiana? Haven't you given money enough to their cause, already?!?
  8. I saw him cutting down acres of Rainforest to build a chain of Ruby Tuesdays!!

  12. QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 15, 2006 -> 01:57 PM) There are many signs that the holy-days are beginning, and it seems to me that the start of Hanukkah always does it for me. As a Christian I am reminded of the commonality we share in the Old Testament, and that we have much more in common than differences. So let's pick up a dreidel, make some latkes, and light a menorah. Let us also remember how G-d has blessed us and led us to triumph against armies and evils. Peace to you my brothers and sisters. May the God of your choice bless you during this holy-day season. I'm glad you said that. Its a belief I share as well. Our son (The Boy as well call him) asked us last year if we could celebrate Hanukkah as well. His said it's based on a miracle by God and that Jesus was Jewish and celebrated it. My son was 7 at the time. The Boy was wise beyond his years. Mind you he has asked for no extra presents. And so finding no reason to say no, we picked up a small menorah, some dreidels and honored the Miracle of Lights. We are doing the same thing this year. Bless you all. Tolerence=Peace...even a child knows that.
  13. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Dec 15, 2006 -> 12:23 PM) The biggest issue/problem I saw when reading the articles on this was that there were loaded weapons out in plain site while there were two small children there. A creative prosecutor could get him on a Child endangerment rap.
  14. Ruining the spammers' livelihood during the Holiday Season... Scrooge!!!
  15. His lawyers will probably keep this from seeing any court action until late February. The league cannot enforce its conduct policy until there is a conviction or a guilty/no contest plea.
  16. QUOTE(rowandrules83 @ Dec 15, 2006 -> 10:30 AM) You talk about players showing loyalty, but here's a hypothetical. What if Crede signed a long-term, hometown discount contract here, but then completely crapped the bed after he signed it? How much loyalty do you think sox fans would be showing him if he was back to the Crede of '03-'04, with a .250 or so average and consistently popping the ball up on the first pitch? Loyalty is a 2-way street. Many fans expect players to be loyal to the fans and the team, but if they struggle the fans are usually the first ones to forget about loyalty. Your analogy is somewhat flawed since we are not paid by the organization to perform. We pay them, so it is within our rights to be critical.

  18. QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 14, 2006 -> 07:39 AM) Every year that they've made profits. 9 of the last 11 years. Also it's worth mentioning, again, that Jerry is NOT the majority holder and there are several in line BEFORE him that would get their pockets lined before he even saw a dime. Testify Sister!!!
  19. I prefer my mac with cheese!
  20. Happy Birthday Mike!! To a great guy one of the best Sox fans I know...and that's saying a lot.
  21. QUOTE(StatManDu @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 02:53 AM) I signed up for the message boards at different times -- years apart in some cases -- and used a different "handle" (and password ... ugh!) each time. On this board and the White Sox board I am StatManDu On the White Sox.com forum I am Bobsagent On the scout forum I am either DavidBoone25 (a Marquette reference) or PackerReporterEd. The last time you saw me I was bald, beard with no mustache, and I had a different nose. So if you don't recognize me, I won't be offended.
  22. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 09:19 AM) I will say these guys are a fun group to tailgate and party with. Consider that the official southsider endorsement The kiss of death...
