Urlacher awarded AP DPOY
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 06:58 PM) He blew that article UP. Yeah, thats all the Bears do in their scheme, they hide him in the back of the huge fat lineman. What is that you say? Traylor and Washington left and took their buffet tables? Who is the fatman in their place? The lineman weigh WHAT?!! They rarely rush more than 4 lineman? What is this insanity? 170 tackles in 2005. So what you are saying is that he should have made way more than 170 tackles? Strange how these NFL scouts never give their name when they are talking about a player.... Or 121 tackles, good for 14th.

It's truly amazing how many Iowa fans dislike Steve Alford, and how many fans of other schools never want to see him leave Iowa City. He's the fourth best coach in the state of Iowa, and, hell, we've had a good JC history. Iowa State has Wayne Morgan who can recruit the best out of any coach in the state and utilizes what he learned under Boeheim. Northern Iowa has Greg McDermott. McDermott may be a prick, but he's turned UNI into a tourney team. Drake has old Iowa coach Tom Davis and might be looking at an NIT bid if things fall right at a school that hasn't had much go right since their win over ISU the year that the Clones went 32-5 (/tear). Alford's got the white guys from the state of Iowa, but short of Tony Freeman, there's not a ton to get excited about in Iowa City.

If Arnaud can pass worth a s***, I like how things look. 2006 Meyer (Jr.) Beck (Fr.) Arnaud (RS) 2007 Meyer (Sr.) Beck (So.) Arnaud (Fr.) 2008 Beck (Jr.) or Arnaud (So.) 2009 Beck (Sr.) or Arnaud (Jr.) 2010 Arnaud (Sr.) As much as I really don't care for the guy, if Meyer could actually be a double threat like in the TCU game he's that much more dangerous.

Robertson: Sharon Stroke God's Retribution
QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 10:22 AM) I hope that you're not implying that Sharon is going to Hell! If so, contact me privately...I don't want to get banned like my brother. I think he's saying he's going to hell for laughing about what I said. Jon Stewart said the same thing as I did.... [paraphrase] "Hand of God? Unless God was forcefeeding Sharon knishes, I'm gonna say it was a combination of fat, age and stress.[/end]

Alexander NFL MVP
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 01:59 AM) They should really change the title of this award. MVP means most valuable. But in all reality, they just give it to the guy with the best numbers and what not. Think about teams who would really suck without a certain player. Would the Seahawks suck without SA? Doubtful. Would the Colts suck with Manning? Probably not. Give the award to guys like Carson Palmer, Plaxico Burress, Santana Moss, Steve Smith, or Willie Parker. Guys who were truly the most valuable players. I am taking nothing from Alexander or Manning but if they deserve an award, then it should be Most Outstanding Player not Most Valuable Player. I don't think there's anyone out there that could handle the Colts offense besides Manning. Sorgi doesn't suck, but he's the one that makes that whole thing go. That being said, SA is MVP, and I honestly thought Carson Palmer had a claim.

Recruiting Thread
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 11:47 AM) Thanks for the compliments guys. I'll post some stuff about Iowa and ND now for Jason and the other ND fans on board. Iowa football according to Scout: Definitely not living up to last years class, but has some solid players and good athletes that are only ranked 2 stars. I look at atlhetic ability more so than stars, and much like Iowa State's class, they have some solid athletes for only being 2-3 stars for the most part. But Iowa does have 3 4 star recruits, including a kicker, a DE, and a TE. My favorite recruit here would have to be the highest ranked one, AJ Edds the 4 star TE, 6'4 220 pounds and runs a 4.6 40, with plenty of room to grow. Not a great blocker yet, and is actually a very nice LB, so his position could be in question at the next level, though most have him listed at TE. Arvell Nelson is still on the board as a 3 star QB, 24th ranked QB in nation, but I like him the best out of any current commits, he will be a battle with Tennessee likely until Feb. 1st. But he's a tall, 6'4, athletic QB who likes to stay in the pocket until flushed out, and has great accuracy with 33 TD's and only 4 INT's his senior year. Iowa should be in good shape there. You don't want to hear those six words. Phf, you got anything on that other class?

I still say ISU's recruiting class for next year in basketball will be a sleeper one. They're working some magic if they can steal two recruits from Gonzaga and Memphis, while also getting the guy that broke Rickert's scoring record the other nite.

Yes, a stroke for a 5-9 man who weighed nearly 300 pounds and was something like 77 years old. Didn't see that one coming.

Colts vs. Bears
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 10:51 PM) Shove it...plenty of us gave you reasoning. Whether you agree with it or not, thats another story. 3-4 people who said they thought the Bears would win said why. There's at least 10 who didn't.
