2017 Offseason White Sox News, Notes, and Tweets thread

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 02:52 PM) If Garcia was traded they might want someone like him to supply fresh needles cover RF for a month until the thing in the minors takes over the role. Priceless. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 06:44 PM) They call it a "bold prediction" I call it a waste of a click.

Bummer - I really enjoy Dan.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 12, 2017 -> 07:45 AM) Enjoy the offseason

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 12, 2017 -> 11:43 AM) Lol, you lost me with the double standard thing. Moderator A says to Member B, "Do not personally attack posters - it is against board policy." Moderator A later says to Member G, "You're a b****." Of course, this is an exaggerated hypothetical example just to illustrate.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 12, 2017 -> 01:06 AM) Ball buster! Yea man - after having my balls busted for the last time, I've taken my self appointed seat atop "the double standard patrol" throne.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 11, 2017 -> 11:16 PM) Show me where I have advocated signing position players as old as Abreu. I'll save you the trouble, that post does not exist. The two players I've said the Sox could look into signing are Manny Machado or Bryce Harper next winter,. Both of whom will be just 26 years old and fit much better into the contention window that's expected to begin in 2020 when those players will be just 28 and Abreu 33. You do understand simple mathematics, don't you? Again, you ignore the facts and spitball your usual bulls***. Don't feed the bears and take a chill pill man. You're getting pretty worked up for no reason. *cough* Donaldson is more realistic for us IMO *cough* Just spread the love man - even with the greggypoo

Here's a publications response to the same question posed in this thread - sand free agent signings and trades: https://theloopsports.com/2017/11/08/white-...ing-day-roster/ Still worth a skim, IMO.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 11, 2017 -> 04:39 PM) Lol...ok bro. Bro... QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Nov 11, 2017 -> 09:57 PM) Is he wrong, bro? Bro!!!

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 08:44 AM) You must have a Trump's view of the word accurate. Back off the guy - would ya? He posted a good resource and forgot to link to the source. Big deal... and as he's pointed out a number of times - perhaps you could post a more accurate resource rather than insulting and antagonizing him. As a moderator aren't you supposed to be upholding and modeling board policies - rather than breaking them yourself?

It's probably been stated in another thread ( that I've yet to see ) but the reported payroll for us in 2018 is ~75 million. Current commitments with arbitration estimates and league minimum projected players filling out our 25 man is 57 million. Leaves us with 18 million to put together a bullpen, sign a "hope to flip" starting pitcher, and go dumpster diving later in the offseason hoping to catch some lightning in a bottle. 2018 will be an interesting year. We'll have a LOT to follow in the entire franchise. w00t w00t.

Alright Soxtalk. Here's the idea.... since we're in for about 110 more days of mainly slow Soxtalk chatter... here's my master plan... In this thread you can post anything BUT text. No words. Just pictures, videos, or links. Only one item per post. General forum rules apply ( nothing graphic in a violent or sexual way ), it may or may not be White Sox related. If you reply to a post in this thread, remember - no text. Your reply must be in the form of an image, video, or link. I'll start things off...

Just saw this short video of him recorded during a game in booth right after the trade: http://mlb.mlb.com/r/video?content_id=1814979783 The kid reminds me of a zen master monk... like a young, hip, athletic Thich Nhat Hahn. That instantly makes him shoot up my favorite player rankings. ??????

Man - I just saw this headline and it instantly hit me. Very sad. It's like every off season we get at least one tragic death. What the f***.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Nov 7, 2017 -> 09:53 AM) Right on cue in Longenhagen's chat today. Devon 12:31 Eric, who do you prefer offensively: Acuna or Eloy? Eric A Longenhagen 12:32 I guess Eloy. Acuna is still so young that he gets his lunch money taken by guys who can sequence well (go watch what Stinnett did to him in the Fall Stars game) where as Eloy's approach is more MLB-ready. Crazy! I firmly stand by this as proof in quantum physics.
