  1. Monday - June 2nd - At Dodgers Stadium PM me as I'm gonna assemble a list of folks who wanna meet up while planning a time and place here in this thread. Sale / Kershaw / Abreu Return? / Sox Talk meetup....
  2. ESPN Insider request: http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/the-gms-office/post?id=9471 Who does Bowden have us taking? I see he has the Astros taking Rodon.
  3. QUOTE (oldsox @ May 29, 2014 -> 03:52 PM) Did Hudson have a second TJS? I do believe so.
  4. QUOTE (VAfan @ May 28, 2014 -> 10:42 PM) As I posted some time ago, I think the Sox are going to contend for a wild card late into the season -- perhaps all the way -- and won't be making the moves that everyone predicted before the season began. Gordon Beckham, with the offense he's bringing at this point, is part of the solution, not the problem. Alexei Ramirez isn't going anywhere, as he's playing like the second best SS in the game right now. Adam Dunn, as the only real lefty power hitter in the Sox lineup, with decent production and some clutch hits, isn't getting traded during the season. In fact, I think it's likely he gets a new two-year deal in the offseason, albeit at much less money than he's making now. Conor Gillaspie has earned the right to play out the season at 3B. But there's still value in having Matt Davidson in the wings. Frankly, if Davidson were ready, the guy he should replace on the roster, right now, is Paul Konerko, who isn't carrying his weight. The guys the Sox should move are De Aza and Konerko, as they are the worst hitters on the club at the moment. Even Leury Garcia beats their OPS numbers. Konerko won't retire early, unfortunately. And the Sox will likely need to make a trade or a wire pickup to replace De Aza. I expect this latter move to happen near the All-Star break if De Aza is still scuffling along under .200. While most of this is enlightened, in this posters humbled opinion... Attendance should negate more moves than one. Follow my signature leads to more insight for my perspective.
  5. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 28, 2014 -> 11:12 PM) I just scrambled to WhiteSox.com to buy tickets, and was about to text my buddies to come with....then I noticed it was in LA. The LA Soxtalk crew comes out in force. Edit: if anyone is down for a SoxTalk LA Crew meetup during this game - hit me up here.
  6. Well , if that's true - no way we get Nola or Jackson. No problem with that in my book.
  7. Just confirmed: hi8is will be taking hi8is Sr. to the Monday game vs the dodgers. Sitting behind home plate in row GG. Thinking if making a Soxtalk Sale K-Zone sign
  8. QUOTE (Jake @ May 25, 2014 -> 07:34 PM) I'd have no problem putting Rodon in the MLB bullpen pretty quickly - takes load off arm, starts arb clock (Boras), valuable experience in controlled setting Same here - but long term - as some "experts" have projected... I don't believe Rondon to be a pen arm.
  9. 1.) Rondon ( Highest ceiling with fastest track to the bigs. I don't buy the reliever projections. ) 2.) Aiken ( Best prep arm with 4 plus pitches. ) 3.) Jackson ( Best bat in the draft. Would rather take him than any other prep or second tier college arm. ) ** It should also be noted that the Hoffman injury changed things greatly. If he was healthy - I'd place him at number one on our board. For me, even with his injury, I'd still be considering him at number three. Very high on Hoffman. **
  10. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 20, 2014 -> 06:17 PM) I actually think he said a HS pitcher high draft choice is the worst, just not drafting a HS pitcher in general. Why would he say something like that 3 weeks away from one of the most important drafts this franchise has ever had.
  11. These Eaton quotes are a perfect testament to young players - play with passion, dedication... Play with heart for the love of the game.... Focus on your talent and recognize your gaps... And you don't have to be 6' 5" at 250lbs and left handed to become a pro.
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ May 11, 2014 -> 10:12 AM) Sale is throwing next on Thursday (5/15). Hopefully that's a rehab assignment, then another on the 5/20, and return vs Tanaka on 5/25. Some game and scale in that one. Fingers crossed. The Human Spark Plug should be back by then too. Igniter Spanky The Human Spark Plug Whatever you wanna call em. Hopefully they both stay healthy - huge parts of our core.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ May 9, 2014 -> 07:32 AM) Sox are back to leading the AL in runs per game at 5.11 through about 22% of the schedule. Crazy ass s*** that we're already nearly 1/4th of the way through the season.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 3, 2014 -> 08:26 PM) Yes, the losses will likely start piling up in a hurry. April was magical and we still were no better than .500. Subtract a few players ... it's looking Astro and Cub-like. Whatever... I seriously don't care if we're the worst team in all of mlb this year. It's almost preferred.
  15. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 2, 2014 -> 06:51 PM) The way the big league staff looks right now, the Sox will have no choice but to deal with Boras if Rodon is there at three. No way they can justify taking a high school arm over him. Straight to the big leagues, son. He'll make history - sign at slot.
  16. Worst at bat of the year for Abreu, easily.
  17. QUOTE (TRU @ Apr 29, 2014 -> 11:47 AM) Everyone should have foreseen this unless they just assumed Paulino, Johnson, and Danks were going to be solid options.. We all knew the bullpen was a concern. Danks has been solid and should have rightly been expected to preform at this level. No one had reason to suspect Johnson to be this horrid. Paulino and the pen where always major points of contention and rightfully so. Some of the issues should have been foreseen but no one could have speculated it to be this horrific.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 29, 2014 -> 12:30 AM) What are you talking about? Poop.
  19. The guy beat Albert Pujols for most homeruns as a rookie and also now holds the rookie record for RBI's... he's getting some sort of award for that - no questions asked. It's a higher feat than a 0.93 WHIP over 5 games and he'll be recognized.
  20. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 26, 2014 -> 03:51 PM) Sad isn't it. I'm interested to see what they can get out of him. He's got talent if something can be tweeked, maybe he harnesses it. It is indeed sad that we're playing the waiver game - if that's what you where referring to...
  21. 90% of sox fans knew what was coming as soon as Abreu stepped into the box. That gangster looked at little Grantie Boy... Nodding... Like, "let's do this little guy."
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 11:22 AM) ...most draft boards now expect Turner to be at the end of the 1st/start of the 2nd round. If we get Turner with the second pick... wow.
