  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 08:21 PM) The Sox have the money, right? So why not start the pursuit of Tomas. Make it clear to Boras the Sox want and need him. Not like they're talking to Boras now.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 03:48 PM) It was more over the White Sox being used to inflate A-Rod contract value as a "false suitor" when there was never any intention for him to come to Chicago (which surely drove JR up a wall). They've had a few recent contacts with Boras because of Danks, Viciedo, Crede...I think Hahn on draft day mentioned a couple of other examples. Andruw Jones was another, for sure. Exact-a-mundo. Thou, didn't Danks change his agent before signing?
  3. I'm still in shock and am at awe that we nabbed Rodon. Pipe dream achieved!
  4. I remember watching him in the WBC. Was very impressed.
  5. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 09:08 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@DanHayesCSN Jose Abreu didn't run on a wild pitch/passed ball after a 7th inning K. Robin Ventura said Abreu had been spoken to. Not concerned. What the f*** where you thinking you lazy asshole?
  6. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 11:36 AM) Froglegs Jones Jr. (Palos Park): Do you think it's realistic to expect the White Sox to sign both Carlos Rodon and Spencer Adams? Draft Wrap Chat with Nick J. Faleris: I do; with Rodon being a better bet than Adams. Given their cap space, I see no reason why they wouldn't have room for both, and if Jarvis has in fact signed it's a good indication the Sox aren't worried about coming up with any extra money for their top two picks. In fact, drafting Jarvis in the first place was a pretty solid indication they think they are going to sign Adams and Rodon without issue. Winner winner chicken dinner.
  7. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 11:56 PM) Another f***ing brutal loss. God damn it. I really thought we had it. I'm like, 0-4 with Sox games since moving to LA and I think in all 4, they were leading at some point. This one is 100% on Ventura. Absolutely ludicrous to leave Sale out there after the double. I grew up for decades watching the Sox lose to the Angles. My dad and I seriously went to almost every white sox game in Anaheim for a twelve year stretch. It was a rarity that the Sox won. That all changed in 2005 and we'll have our time again. This was a hard loss and it can be second guessed thousands of times over... But in the end - it was what it was and my choice was to stand up, tip my cap to the other team, and know that tomorrow is another day. Game over. Go get em tomorrow with your heads held high and use this as motivation to become better. That's the only acceptable outlook in my eyes.
  8. I was there. Sorry, but that was a bad ass game. Mage it be noted I wanted Sale out for Trout.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 03:25 PM) Jim Callis ‏@jimcallisMLB 28s 1-1 pick Brady Aiken agrees w/@Astros on $6.5 mil. Ties Jameson Taillon's record for largest @MLBDraft bonus given to HS P. That'll help in our Rodon talks. No way we don't sign him.
  10. Will be there sitting behind home plate. Dope.
  11. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 11:28 PM) Yep, she must be a fan, thats kinda crazy how that worked out. But no tweet about her being ecstatic that dude got drafter by her fav team. Of course not - Borass is giving her a billion dollars to keep quiet.
  12. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 07:11 PM) Braves got the steal of the draft with Matt Tellor!! We should have gotten him. 10th round - wonder if he's signable
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 05:53 PM) Looking like a wasted year for Erik Johnson. Bizarre how this is going for him. I've never seen anything like it - last year he was fantastic and poised. Him being this way shocked me good.
  14. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 09:08 AM) Can someone look back and pull back the posts about Rodon from last July... You.
  15. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 11:21 AM) Well this isn't an encouraging quote from Rodon..... "Q. Going to get a deal done with Sox? Your sense and feeling. A. I’m not really sure. That’s later down the road. In a month or so we’ll figure that out but I’m still trying to enjoy this moment, spend time with my family and enjoy the whole thing and let it sink in." It's just the same as him not being around for participation yesterday... negotiations. He'll be stupid if he doesn't sign. ( Which, he seems slightly based on his interviews. )
  16. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 11:21 PM) Why would the Astros and Marlins pass on Rodon? Because they liked Aiken and Kolek better?
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 11:01 PM) Shades of Beckham/Getz. What is it with Georgia boys like Adams, Beckham and Hawkeroo? There's still a lot of homophobic slurs being slung in the south, the latest of which is "Peggy Boy".
  18. Reetz is officially ours if we select him tomorrow. What a day.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 07:32 PM) Other than the few I PM'ed. This was a hard secret to keep. Jeez. Thanks for keeping me in the loop
  20. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 06:09 PM) This draft is taking WAAAAAYYYYY too long, won't see our second pick til 1030 at this rate The clock for the first round is drawn out compared to other rounds. Believe the second round is every 1:00.
  21. Wonder if there's no indication to Kolek or Rodon not being interviewed yet.
  22. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 05:05 PM) Guys remember who Rodon has pitched against too. His whole career he's faced UNC who has had one of the top offenses in the country. Go back and look at his stats in those games. He absolutely dominated them, many who will be drafted this weekend including Michael Russell etc +1 Also - Hoffman at #9! Now we know how the Jays board started - didn't want to risk losing him over the NYM behind them.
  23. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 04:51 PM) Yep, exactly. All those people questioning our fandom and being so visirol about us rooting for the Sox to lose now get to bathe in the reward of having Carlos Rodon on this team. We were sitting at like pick #11 before myself and others decided to bite the bullet and root for Sox losses. Now let's see who goes #11 to Toronto and ask everyone if they would trade Carlos Rodon for that person. The answer is going to be f*** NO. +1 ( times fifteen thousand )
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 04:40 PM) I was just gonna type that. Cheers to all of us that were on it! BAMMMM!!!!
