Milton Bradley
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 10:07 PM) I'm one of those people that was hoping that KW picked up Milton Bradley. I happen to like the guy. I like sexually transmitted diseases.

'Muhammad' now a dirty word on 'South Park'
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 01:42 PM) Pssh. f*** that. It's called free speech. That was the beauty of the two episodes - they had Buddha doing coke lines, Jesus making gay jokes....EVERYTHING that was completely inappropriate and supposedly "offensive" (but clearly funny), yet they can't even show Muhammed, let alone make a joke about him. It's absolutely ridiculous. Comedy Central should have allowed it, and every network/publication should have replayed it over and over again. Extremism 1,678,435 Freedom 0 I think we should also stop this entire war on terror too. Let them kill us. After all, we need to respect their beliefs. While we're at it, we should also stop allowing our women to see the light of day, and force them to cover their entire bodies. That's the reason bad s*** happens. I actually think Parker and Stone and Comedy Central can do whatever they want, but GMAB with the free speech stuff. No s*** there is free speech, nobody is disputing that, but sometimes there are consequences and it's up to the person to decide whether they actually want to deal with them. Too often people want to have their cake and eat it too which is dumb. "I want to say offensive things, how dare you take offense to me being offensive you p****, I have free speech!"

The environment thread
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 02:33 PM) Really wasn't that hard to understand for anyone with a reading comprehension level above the 10th grade. All I see here is the same crap I've seen throughout my life. Younger people growing into idealists that are going to solve all the worlds problems by worrying about everything, but doing almost nothing about it. History repeating itself all over again. What will it be in 10 years when this blows over, I wonder? 50's/60's - Fallout shelters? 70's - Global Cooling 80's - Nuclear War/WWIII 90's - Global Warming/Airborne AIDS Virus? 00's - Terrorists/Climate Change (Can't call it GW anymore)/Some sort of Flu/sickness (Swine, West Nile, Bird Flu, etc.) 10's - Absolute worldwide disaster of some sort/2012 20's - ??? Boring. I can read and comprehend just fine, thanks, and you need to stop with the line-toeing. Also, your response here is a non-sequitur that doesn't appear to have anything to do with your unhinged rant before. I think. I hope. I managed to decipher "I am better and smarter than your foolish asses" from it but that's about it. I still have no idea what you're talking about.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 09:02 PM) And so is every liberal arguement. Every debate, on both sides, is built from a house of straw. It just depends on who you want your straw man to be. Jesus Christ, no it isn't.

How many times have you been banned at WSI?
QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 10:45 AM) I used to post there before I found this place. What really bugged me is that if you were negative about the team in any way, you were a "dark cloud." Once I found Soxtalk I didn't post there as much, and now I don't even check it. Haven't been there in 2-3 years. lol, I said once in 2007 that we had a farm system in the bottom third of MLB and I got ripped on for saying it. That was before it was conventional wisdom that guys like Lance Broadway and Danny Richar weren't real prospects, although it should've been, but some people wouldn't take the homer glasses off. Also I said that Josh Fields was a butcher in a particular game against the Orioles that I was at, that he botched a routine play I could've made, and I got banned for a phantom language filter violation.

Where you met your significant other?
blackplanet.com before it started sucking. I was in Iraq at the time and I just kind of randomly stumbled across her page and started talking to her, and she responded, and it went from there. Although she flew to Chicago to see me when I got back and took leave I never expected to actually date her, let alone marry her. Then a couple months later I decided to reenlist and change duty stations to Maryland, where she lived (I had been stationed in Georgia at the time, and this was all coincidental and I didn't plan it) and one thing led to another. Funny b/c I used to use BP just to hook up with women, not actually find girlfriends... lol. I must've met 10 different women off there... yeah, I got around probably more than I should have

Andruw Jones
QUOTE (Ranger @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 12:49 PM) I'm not sure what this proves except that the last time Jones was significantly better at hitting righties was 7 years ago. to me, this isn't useful information for Ozzie. Regardless of what Jones's particular numbers are, this is something that Ozzie does consistently, especially with younger players. He doesn't seem to care what the splits actually look like, especially younger players. It's "player is young and X handed, must need platoon"

2010 Cubs Thread
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 07:55 PM) Last year Zambrano held hitters to a .152/.288/.250/.538 line w/ 0 HR in the first inning of games. Far and away his best inning. For his career his first inning line is .207/.313/.319/.633, once again his best inning. Typically the first is a starters strongest inning. Said Cubs fan is fail, then.

A Cubs fan told me that Zambrano's worst inning is usually the first inning he pitches. Nice.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 07:40 PM) I think they meant a camera flash. Supposedly Apple thinks Flash is an obsolete technology and refuses to operate with it. I think it's got more to do with the fact that Apple hasn't figured out a way to make money off of it yet. edit: yeah what G&T said.

How many times have you been banned at WSI?
I got banned 3 or 4 times during 2007. It started getting old after a while because it wasn't like I was flagrantly breaking the rules and never once did a mod actually tell me what rule I was breaking/give me a chance to stop first. I would just log in and see that I was banned.

NBA playoffs thread
Hinrich was playing on the ball, in LeBron's face, and LeBron was just on fire, took over the last half of the 4th. Cleveland's depth was too much to overcome too even though the Bulls played about as clean as you could expect except for the defensive miscues that led to a couple of open 3s.

NBA playoffs thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 09:18 PM) That is his schtick. Its too bad because he brings a unique insight because he isn't afraid to take an unpopular position. The act kinda takes away from that and makes him seem basketball dumber than he really is. I think Barkley is f***ing hilarious, personally. Always have.

NBA playoffs thread
Bulls are looking competitive right now. I don't know if they'll win but they're doing a decent job of containing LeBron, all things considered, although it's left them to give up a few wide open threes. Did anybody catch Barkley in the pregame? They asked what the Bulls had to do to beat Cleveland and Barkley was like "I dunno, kill LeBron James?"

Financial News
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 10:23 AM) And adding more rules to an ineffective unit is going to make them work better? If they can't handle the supposed few rules they have now, somehow they are going to get massive amounts of more work, and they are somehow going to be more accurate? Really that is like saying to Jayson Nix, we know you can't play anywhere but 2B, but hey, why don't you catch and pitch too while you are at it! If Nix didn't have pics of Ozzie participating in interspecies erotica or whatever I wouldn't put it past Ozzie at all.

Obama vs Israel
I don't get this, anything short of the US president completely bending over and putting Israel's priorities ahead of ours, even on our dime and at a cost to our own national security, is considered selling out or turning your back on Israel. What the f*** ever. Israel as a sovereign nation is entitled to put its national security first if it sees fit to do so, and you best believe they do what's best for them even if it hurts us and don't think twice about it. Why are we expected to behave differently?
