  1. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Jul 18, 2009 -> 09:20 PM) Haven't seen it, but she's definitely overrated. I like big butts and I cannot lie... Pam Oliver has a pretty big one.
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 10:25 AM) Are you going to hate the Orioles when your son becomes a fan of theirs? I actually kind of like the Orioles. My son has tons of Sox gear though.
  3. Twins - not so much because of the team and fans, but because they are natural division rivals, I hate their s***ty dome, the way our team plays in it, and the way Hawk sucks off s***ty Carlos Gomez-esque players. Cubs - I don't actually hate the team that much, but being from Chicago I hate Cubs fans and their unwarranted s***-talking so much. I like when the team loses because it makes it easier for me to laugh them off. When the Sox are winning and Cubs are losing, naturally you never hear s***. Red Sox - Thank you ESPN for vaulting the formerly irrelevant Red Sox onto my hate radar. I don't mind the team so much, but the fans get so much coverage and attention and it's just nauseating. I hate the Patriots for the same reason too, but at least Red Sox fans have always been Red Sox fans and not beginning in 2004, like how probably 50% of Patriots fans didn't even know Boston had a football team before 2001 and Brady. Yankees - I used to hate the Yankees but I don't as much anymore, s*** they have 26 titles so their fans kind of have a right to that superiority complex. It's more of a token hate now, driven by ESPN (which I don't watch anymore). Their massive payroll and imbalance of free agency every single year irks me but any other GM would do the same thing with those resources.
  4. I'm not sure how I feel about TCQ coming back. Is he healthy? Is he ready to be here? If so, then that's awesome, and this becomes a playoff team. If not, then I don't see what there is to be excited about. Oh, and yeah Wise doesn't really add anything to this team except as an occasional PR.
  5. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 10:39 PM) That's great, but the Sox need to acquire a productive 3B first. Well duh.
  6. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 12:06 PM) Finally someone I agree with. Do your homework. Pitties are lovers and live to please. People that train them to fight should get the death penalty. The same was said about blacks, mexicans, and jews at various times thru history and how do we feel about these statements now? ^^ add "people who compare dogs to humans" to my list.
  7. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jul 18, 2009 -> 12:23 PM) No, I get that. I don't think I said I was 100% unaffected by alcohol when drinking that much. There's definitely going to be some impairment when having any amount of alcohol. Having one drink affects you, but how much it affects you is why people are allowed to drive with some alcohol in their system (otherwise everyone would have to blow a 0.00 to not get a DUI). Rather, I wasn't affected enough to be unable to operate a vehicle properly. Look, whatever my BAC level at that moment was, it probably would have been around .08. I'm almost positive it was lower than that, but if it was a .08 and I was "legally" drunk, I don't think I should have gotten the same punishment (if given a DUI) as someone who blows a .12 or something. B/c all that would have meant was if I had waited 15 more minutes to drive, I'd be "legally" able to again, being under the .08 mark. How does that make sense? I'm not sure if I'm just not making my point clear here or what, but everyone seems to think I take the stance that "getting a DUI is cool" or it's 100% fine to drink and drive. Getting a DUI scares the s*** out of me, so you best believe I'm not driving unless I'm about 100% certain I'm not gonna get one. But if I had for being so close to the limit, then my punishment should be less than that of someone who was well over the limit. Being .001 away from being legal vs .04 away is a large difference even if it may not look like it. Regardless, luckily I don't have to worry about this during the school year since we have pledges that are sober drivers 7 nights/week for the entire school year. It's our attempt to stop drunk driving, and it definitely works. EDIT: Okay, so none of this really matters anymore. I did 3 of those online BAC level testers (I know they're not 100%, but close enough), and the highest BAC level I got from the 3 was a .05, so I was well under the limit. 8 beers, 6 hours, 150 pounds, drinking Miller Lite... Well, there is a difference between "knowing your limits" and actually being drunk but thinking you're sober.
  8. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 07:22 PM) Tommy Boy Friday Old School Hunny I shrunk the Kids Beaches Oh s***, how could I forget Friday? My ghetto pass has just been suspended.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 05:47 PM) Blazing Saddles. I cannot turn it off if it comes on. History of the World? For me probably Happy Gilmore.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 06:26 PM) professional wrestling is the pointless, and I can't believe people pay lots of money to watch something completely fake. I only think that when people think it's real. If you know it's fake, and you're still entertained by it, then hey, it's entertainment. Go for it.
  11. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 11:32 AM) So, in other words, its nothing but vapor. Why was the M2M the cause of all this again? Because banks couldn't make up arbitrary values for their holdings? QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 01:17 PM) I never did post my award winning post about this. Something about getting fired from my job and getting all wrapped up in that. The "banks" argued that FASB (the accounting standards board for US) was forcing them to write down assets to an arbitrarily low value. That's the short answer. So now that the value can be set to "market value (whatever that means, hence the problem)" again, they are seeing "gains" from their balance sheets. That's a waaaaay simplistic answer, there's obviously much more to it. I was totally about to call you out again kap.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 01:50 PM) It really taught me to study history in a totally different manner. It really became more than just facts and dates after that. Yeah, me too. Actually most of the stuff I know about world history to the point where I can actually lecture on it, I didn't learn in school, I either learned it in college or learned it all on my own. You know, I never made the connection that the Tigris and Euphrates rivers were in Iraq until I actually saw the Tigris river, and a light bulb went off in my head. I was like damn, you'd think at least one of my books or my teachers would've gone over how the Middle East came to be? Also it's helped me realize that the world didn't revolve around the United States until very, very recently. I tend to write in the U.S. in the 3rd person because it makes it easier to be objective about things that happen and not "think like an American."
  13. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 11:34 PM) Oh, and they're needs to be levels to DUI convictions. Like, being one beer over the limit is not at all the same as being 10 beers over the limit. But, apparently it's the same according to the court system here. I had 8 beers in 6 hours tonight and drove home fine, but according to the law, I'm pretty sure I would have blown over a .08, which means I legally drove drunk tonight even though I was fine. All right, no offense, but this statement, especially the bolded part, is just absolutely brutal logic. Sorry, but this is a pet peeve of mine and I hate when people do this s***. If you've over .08, actually if you are even near .08, no you're not fine, you just think you are. You're drunk, actually pretty good and drunk. You might not be drooling and stumbling around, but you're drunk and you have no business driving. You think you're good to go, I'm on the expressway behind you gripping my wheel hard watching you drive 10 mph under the limit, wobbling back and forth, drifting into my lane and you have no idea you're doing it. And I'm sitting there wondering if I should just drive behind you and hope you don't hit a tree or something, or just gun it and fly around you as fast as I can and hope you don't swerve into my lane for the few seconds I'm there. Remember Tank Johnson? He didn't get a DUI because he had about a .72 after they took him in for a blood test. And why did he get stopped by the cops? Because he was driving erratically... just like a drunk person does! But that still completely absolved him of any guilt in some people's eyes. If you were 10 beers over the limit you might not make it to the end of the street if you're dumb enough to attempt driving then.
  14. That's par for the course for Buchanan. He's pretty much an overt racist. I read white supremacist literature sometimes and whatever is in it sticks with me, then separately I hear Buchanan speak on Morning Joe or Rachel Maddow and what he says is awfully similar, just in a more friendly tone. I don't know how the guy's gotten such a free pass all this time.
  15. QUOTE (almagest @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 12:16 AM) The quizzes, dear god, the quizzes. Why do so many people want me to know which character on "Real Housewives of New Jersey" they are? I wish I could send live, hate-filled bees to these people via the internet. Facebook quizzes are like Forrest Gump. Occasionally insightful, but still mostly retarded. I'm guilty of doing the occasional quizzes though.
  16. He didn't used to be, and I used to like him on CNN, but that's pretty much what he is now.
  17. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 01:37 AM) The Extenze commercials with those 2 middle-agers talking about screwing and bigger c*ck size needs to be banned. Actually I f***ing hate that commercial too because it's such a blatant scam and it's allowed on TV. I don't mind God Bless America - but it's NOT the national anthem and does not deserve the same treatment. If you don't stand for the national anthem you need to have your ass kicked, but if you want to sit or talk on your cellphone during God Bless America I have no issues with that.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 12:46 PM) Is that so? When did the names of bills change from descriptive to cutesy? I meant SCOTUS nominees being so politically polarizing and turning into a partisan fundraising circus. You can see this if you look back to about the 80s, and see people getting confirmed 96-2 by the Senate or what have you. A filibuster against a nominee was unheard of.
  19. All of this is a recent phenomenon, the last 15 years or so.
  20. Southsider after reading most of your posts on this subject I'm having a hard time figuring out your point or what should be done. Actually I'm getting the feeling u don't think there's a problem with the current system at all.
  21. There is a poster in here a dozen or so pages back that worked for a drug company (kap was was participating too) explaining how the current limit on patents hurts and that it should be extended.
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 10:35 AM) The CBO is not Obama's "friend". They're really not, if anything they really can get in the way sometimes (like Pelosi).
  23. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 04:29 PM) The problem is, they want to discuss her every "blunder" ad naseum. That has nothing to do with "having a thick skin". If people would STFU about everything Sarah Palin, she'd just simply go away, but it seems no one on either side wants to do that, so the drip gas gets added to every damn word that's uttered, and BOOM, it just keeps going and going. It's nauseating, on both sides. I was reading a Time article where one of her aides/friends/advisors was saying she actually started digging on the Internet to read the dirt about her, reading liberal blogs etc. No politician actually does that or they'd go crazy. Could you imagine if Bush did that when he was president and then started whining about everything instead of brushing it off or ignoring it like he did (and like Obama does now)? He wouldn't have been able to function if he did that.
