QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:54 PM) Well it's a good thing I eat my racoons from American highways, not Chinese fur farms. Now how about posting the PETA comparison of chicken farms to Jews in Nazi prison camps?

How much longer will Guillen stay with Jenks?
lostfan replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 07:38 PM) Fwiw, Joe Nathan has 3 Blown Saves and Bobby 4. I'm with you on the "let's not overreact" angle, but Nathan is a pretty terrible comparison - his ERA is less than half that of Jenks, his WHIP is waaaaay lower (0.78 to 1.29, not counting today's games), and opponents are batting almost 100 points higher off Jenks. -
QUOTE (DanksFan @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 07:28 PM) Right now it's pretty much like "everyone on this team sucks ass except for Buehrle and Wise. And Josh Fields, too." Wise is still Wise.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 07:26 PM) not that I can recall All of their runs came off shallow singles or ground balls. Having said that though it doesn't really matter, we only scored 3 runs.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 07:17 PM) Really? Slow like Paulie? For real though? Look at the bench, who else are you going to put in? Nix? Castro?
-
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 07:16 PM) well thats no fun. You're supposed to want Jenks cut right now, its the soxtalk way! Trade him for some low-A scraps, just get him off this team now!
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 07:15 PM) What a great idea to get an equally slow guy in to run for Paulie. wtf? Fields isn't slow. Wise is already in the game.

I'm not going to overreact like some people are doing but Jenks's performance has been pretty disgusting the last few weeks, it's about impossible to dispute that.

QUOTE (DanksFan @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 07:06 PM) there is no such thing as momentum ^^ more accurate.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 05:23 PM) Can you ever admit that there's a problem when Jon Stewart comes out on top of a poll like this? "oh, no, there's not a problem with HIM, it's everyone else!". Gees. Balta just in so many words said the MSM sucks, what else do you want him to do/say?

Oh and lol how in the f*** can you alter your own records? Nobody has the authority to do that, it doesn't matter who it is. And even if you're in a position where you can actually do that (i.e. you work for the state dept. of vital records, Social Security, etc.), if you do it and get caught that's an easy way to get fired and possibly have charges pressed against you.

I need Michael Savage to show documentation that he is not a Communist spy here to subvert America's way of life. I also need to personally verify the legitimacy of whatever he provides.

Is there anybody else who is amused by birthers? Or, more accurately, reading the delusional birther conspiracies get ripped to shreds?

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 10:50 AM) There should be an "It Depends" option. I love that the network exists, I love that they try and expand their coverage for events such as the ConFed Cup, Euro Soccer Leagues, Strongman etc...I like that Sportscenter and Baseball Tonight exist. BUT, I hate how they cover like 5 teams for 90% of their shows. I wish there was a good alternative but for the most part there isn't. So I guess my answer is one of those "Yes, but no" type deals. I tried to do that with Option #3. BTW, the alternative is the internet. There's thousands of sports sites that cover everything just as well as ESPN does if you don't mind not being able to watch TV for it.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 10:46 AM) ESPN is doing now what MTV did in the 90's. moving away from what made them popular and into "reality" and making themselves the story. No, I am not a fan anymore. I still look at the bottom line if I need a score, but as soon as I see what I want, Im done That's actually a really good analogy. MTV is completely dead to me and sometimes I forget they even exist. I couldn't tell you what channel it is on my DirecTV and I couldn't name you one show that comes on anymore.

Personally I've been boycotting ESPN for about 2 1/2 years now and I don't feel like I've missed a thing. Their coverage is ridiculous and at times hyperbolic, bordering on tabloid, and often their "analysis" is skin-deep trash. ESPN used to be the best network out there but it's been slipping, hard. I'm just wondering if anyone else ignores ESPN too. edit: For clarity's sake, watching live events because they are broadcast by ESPN doesn't count if you want to choose the "Hell no" option.

Dewayne Wise to be interviewed on Sportscenter

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 09:16 AM) I hate how often people here try and use this when someone posts something they don't like (sorry lostfan, it's not usually you but you just happened to make this post this time). He's partly right though. There are people here who root for him to fail. The level that some people loathe certain players on this team sometimes is fascinating and goes beyond ridiculous. I realize he is not a good baseball player, but when you read comments about the guy it is often hard to come to any other conclusion than some people would love to see him fail just so they can say "told ya". (I'm just using him as an example, but it's happened elsewhere) It was a messy shotgun blast of a post. There might be about 2 or 3 fringe posters who actually want him to fail, about the same number of posters probably got caught up in the moment and wished he'd gotten hurt. Beyond that, on to the vast majority of posters, nobody wants him to fail. They might expect him to fail, they might be upset about having to see it and knowing the outcome before it happens, but they don't want it to happen. Then when they express frustration about it (this is Soxtalk after all) they get called "haters." -
Dewayne Wise to be interviewed on Sportscenter

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 11:42 PM) The replay has Wise just plain sprinting after the ball immediately. Like it was fate. What would Pods have done on the play? We know what many say BA woulda done; what about Pods? Pods would've attempted to do the same thing, probably unsuccessfully. -
Dewayne Wise to be interviewed on Sportscenter
lostfan replied to rangercal's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 11:36 PM) Wise seemed to have a perfect jump on that ball. I don't know if BA gets there, and then he has to reach across his body or backhand it because his glove is on the other arm. I don't know why people keep saying this... open your left hand, and turn it counterclockwise so that your palm faces you. Is that really that hard to do? If you did that with a glove on and put it where you track the ball to land it'll fall right in there. It's a high degree of difficulty because your eye isn't right there on the ball but it's not if you're using your right hand to catch the ball either (you jump). -
Dewayne Wise to be interviewed on Sportscenter

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 11:30 PM) Does BA have the speed to get to the wall that quick? I think it takes a unique amount of speed to get there, plus a great jump. For at least one moment, his particular skill set got us out of a spot. Earlier in the year he had a great catch (in which he was injured) which led directly to a W. BA gets to that spot, yes. It's not like he's never ran really fast to make a catch at the wall before. I really doubt if he catches it on a jump though. However, this is irrelevant and it's not nor should it be a BA vs. Wise thing.
