  1. How the hell did Ortiz triple to left field?? I'm not watching on tv
  2. Maybe Bellhorn's timing just sucks. He always fouls off so many pitches but can't hit a friggin fair ball. Eventually he strikes out or walks.
  3. Despite your faults, still a baseball player to remember. RIP Ken.
  4. You may have trouble burning working copies if it is a fairly new game. I recommend a program called Daemon Tools which you can just run the CD off your hard drive and not burn anything. http://www.daemon-tools.cc/ But if you must burn, I recommend Alcohol 120% for .mdf .mds files.
  5. It looks pussified in my opinion. Something about those headlights makes it look European or something.
  6. The type double is used for numbers with decimals while the type string is for words. You probably know this but just in case you didn't notice you had stockname set as a double. I use the setw() function to space out my output. It's alot easier than typing a bunch of spaces. Just make sure you include iomanip first. The rest of this is pretty basic, you change the value NUMSTOCKS if you want your program to have more stocks. Have you guys done loops yet? This program is alot easier if you use them. You won't have to type the same lines over and over again. The amount gain/lost is a simple multiplication and you can just put that in a new column on the table. I'm a CS major so I love doing this stuff. If there are any CS haters out there, just think about the people that make places like Soxtalk possible the next time you visit. #include <iostream> #include <iomanip> #include <string> using namespace std; const int NUMSTOCKS = 2; int main() { string username; string date; string stocknames[NUMSTOCKS]; double stockopens[NUMSTOCKS]; double stockcloses[NUMSTOCKS]; double stockshares[NUMSTOCKS]; cout<<"What is your name?"<<endl; cin>>username; cout<<"What is today's date?"<<endl; cin>>date; for(int i=0; i<NUMSTOCKS; i++) { cout << "Stock " << i+1 << " : Name?"<<endl; cin >> stocknames[i]; cout << "Stock " << i+1 << " : Opening Value?"<<endl; cin >> stockopens[i]; cout << "Stock " << i+1 << " : Closing Value?"<<endl; cin >> stockcloses[i]; cout << "Stock " << i+1 << " : # of Shares?"<<endl; cin >> stockshares[i]; } cout << "Name"<< setw(18) << "Open Price"<< " " << "Closing Price"<< " "<< "# of Shares"<<endl; for(int i=0; i < NUMSTOCKS; i++) { cout << stocknames[i]<< setw(18-stocknames[i].length()) << stockopens[i] << setw(11) << stockcloses[i] << setw(13) << stockshares[i] <<endl; } return 0; }
  7. I'll be ok until February. That month just kills me with boredom in sports. At least next February will only be 28 days long. March is probably the second worst but at least you got the NCAA tournament.
  8. I put this here since people don't always look at the Contest Board. Let's get this going: ALDS Anaheim over Boston in 5 New York over Minnesota in 5 NLDS Houston over Atlanta in 5 St. Louis over LA in 4 ALCS Anaheim over New York in 6 NLCS St. Louis over Houston in 6 WS Anaheim over St. Louis in 7 (Home field advantage wins) I find it really hard to read the playoffs this year. New York looks really weak and no one has seen St. Louis play a meaningful game in a couple months. Anaheim and Houston come in the hottest teams imo.
  9. Cubesque meltdown by the Giants. Hermanson walks 3 and Ransom makes an error as 9th inning defensive replacement at SS. Three pitchers manage to get one out and give up seven runs.
  10. Congrats to the Angels, they went into enemy territory and took that title outright from the A's. At least the A's showed some heart today, to lose 10-0 last night at home with the title on the line is just pathetic.
  11. Anaheim is 3 outs away from the title. And don't look now but SF is looking to tie for the NL West in game #162. Dodgers were up 3 games with 3 to play.
  12. I think Ichiro would have had quite a few more hits if he were playing 84 years ago too. I think it's just good for baseball internationally and it sort of ends the debate on whether Japanese position players can hit major league pitching if anyone still doubted this fact.
  13. The definition of moot is contrary to current usage. In fact it has come to mean the opposite of its original meaning which is pretty f***ed up imo.
  14. Ben has lost a ton of weight this season and seems pretty fatigued. He said he is gonna put it back on and more this offseason to prepare himself for the long haul next year. I expect him to show up strong in Spring Training.
  15. As soon as Frank and Maggs went out we shoulda moved the fences back to Polo Grounds dimensions and played guys like Valdez and Harris every day.
  16. I'll believe it when fans stop showing up when the team is 30 games below .500.
  17. According to ESPN the last time two teams met tied for the division on the last weekend was 1980 Phils Expos.
  18. I'm hoping the number is down to 1 tonight and then tomorrow the Cubs can lose out with style with Maddux going down to his former playoff-bound team.
  19. Hughes: There's a fly ball to Brant Brown, and OH NOOOO HE DROPS THE BALL!!! Santo: NOOOOO!!!! NOOOOooooOOOOOOO!!!
  20. I just thought of this when I was thinking how two NL Central teams could make the playoffs and really stick it to the Cubs. Then I realized that the AL Central is the only division to never get two teams into the playoffs in the same year. We rarely field two contenders and I wonder if it will ever happen.
  21. I never like to bid early at all. All it seems to due is drive up the price unnecessarily because you know there will be bids on most items at the end. The best situation is when some newbie places a low bid very early and it lasts for the whole auction. Then you can really snipe him at the end for a good price and hope that no one else has noticed the auction. I've tried this successfully a couple times, but usually there are other people that always want the same item. There's nothing like getting a "You are the highest bidder" and a "You have been outbid" email at the exact same time.

    The Grudge

Just want to say I saw an older Japanese version of this during my trip and it freaked me out to all hell for the next couple nights even though I didn't understand all the lines. I'm very happy to see this movie was remade by the same director and entirely Japanese crew. Let's just say when they say this movie has "disturbing imagery" they damn well mean it. It's that type of s*** that sticks in your head when you close your eyes and alot scary than some monster movie. Check out the website if you don't believe me. http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/thegrudge/site/
  23. Sammy would be a perfect fit for the Expos/Senators next year. Aging superstar who is still a good draw puts people in the seats quickly and keeps them there for a season. Also gives them a chance to notice some of the real talent coming up in that system.
