Solid bloodlines if nothing else

Seems he’s been having more and more rest days as the season progresses. More often than others. Perhaps he’s just managing an injury?
-
Mini slump, check his OBP though.
-
Absolutely. He is the type of guy you root for, young for the level, took his lumps and has just kept working, slowly improving month after month.
-
Simas got pulled after only 62 pitches. Wonder if they’re trying to limit his innings, seems to have had a short leash the past month
-
Totally agree, being young for the level and holding your own really bodes well for future success.
-
Great to see Sosa with the HR. He’s been hitting pretty light since moving to AAA, usually the opposite of what happens when players leave Birmingham.
-
He’s made some real improvements this season though, after looking like a lost cause to start the year. Also, perhaps they want to get a new set of coaching eyes on him for the last month of the season to figure out what he needs to work on the offseason?

The move that puts us over the top. Finally….

White Sox among 'most agressive' teams in pitching market

Of course. That’s where you do nothing but constantly talk about things you MIGHT do. It’s highly aggressive -
Yankees get Montas, Trivino from OAK

Didn’t we trade him for a bag of magic beans a few years back?? -
I was truly excited for a full slate of games today after the ASB. We had some real momentum with the big club after the twins series. Went for a workout, checked the scores and the crushing reality of this season came down upon me all at once……So disappointing ?

There is a slot value for each pick and each team is given a total amount of money to spend commensurate with the sum of each of their pick’s respective slot values. Players don’t necessarily have to sign for the value of the slot they’re taken though which leads to lots of gaming so teams can sign over slot players later in the draft. To this end, you’ll see a lot of teams draft college seniors in rounds 3-10 and sign them for a $10k bonus (Minimum signing bonus), leaving them the rest of the slot money to spend elsewhere. i.e. a player signs for $10k but his pick has slot value of $500k, the team now has $490k to spend elsewhere. They do this several times and can now sign a player for $1mil +. that’s the broad strokes version of how it works anyways. Hope it helps

That’s gotta be the kiss of death for a prospect like him. We think so little of you as a prospect that you’re literally going to get promoted to fill a roster spot.
-
I only have the box scores to go off of, but after a shaky start to the season he has really cut down on number of errors. (This obviously tells only a small part of the story)
-
I’m not too worried about him at this point. He’s young for the level and has been slowly improving as the season wears on which is what you look for when someone gets promoted. Also his peripheral numbers aren’t terrible, probably just a slow start and then a bit of bad luck at this point. If he still has an ops of 600 at the end of the season that’s when I’ll start worrying. also really important to note that he only played 29 games in high-A with 120 AB’s. He’s basically skipped a level, the fact that he’s not overmatched is pretty impressive.

The Kath homer was a laser too.

Probably, I’m big on Ramos too.
-
Thompson, Dalquist, and Kelley have all been performing well over the last month or so. I had nearly written all of them off after their respective terrible starts to the year. Really positive developments for all three.
-
Kelley has now had two good outings in a row. Only went 3 today but perhaps they’re trying to rebuild his confidence and pulling him early.

Most have Montgomery rated higher than Ramos it would seem, and I will say that I don’t know squat about scouting. But when you compare their numbers side by side, Ramos is doing just as well as Montgomery at a higher level and he’s a month younger. That has to mean something, if you take Colson’s fluky high BABIP out of the equation they have near identical OPS. I’m not sure why people aren’t as excited about Ramos as I am, but again, like I said I don’t know anything about scouting and am forced to just rely on the numbers I see
