  1. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Nov 20, 2016 -> 02:31 AM) The article never said that guys with 4+ years of control are off the table. From the article... "The White Sox have started the process of a massive sell-off, with other teams increasingly convinced they will deal Chris Sale. “And once you trade him,” said the evaluator, “why would you stop there?” They’ve told teams they’re willing to deal any player who has fewer than four years of team control." So you're right, they didn't say they WOULDN'T deal any player with 4+ years, but just that they are willing to deal players with less than 4 years, which implies the former.
  2. My boy Hinostroza scored on a goal you typically only see in roller hockey leagues. The goalie didn't even realize the puck was sitting in front of his pad, and Vinny followed his shot and mopped it up.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 01:11 PM) How many times do we have to go through this? Millions of Americans had a right to sit at home when given choices as horrific as Trump and Hillary Clinton. Yeah, I wonder what percent of those who didn't vote, did so because they didn't want either one of those two anyway. Can't act like every non-vote would have gone to Hillary, or even enough of them to change the results. Hell, that was my position until my family guilted me in to deciding to vote, of which I screwed up anyway by apparently missing the registration deadline. My vote was going to Kasich though.
  4. A big reason to move Quintana this offseason is because he's the 3rd best available SP right now (After Sale and Archer). Next off-season, he will have to compete with Arrieta, Darvish, possibly Cueto, Pineda, Tanaka, plus the available pitchers for trade. And then in 2018 obviously it's the biggest FA class in MLB history.
  5. Matthew Stafford is my back-up QB behind Tom Brady. My WRs suck. I was just offered Tyrelle Pryor for Stafford. Thinking about taking it. He also offered me Ebron as an option, but Ebron was just on waivers and I chose not to add him, so I don't think that would be wise. I had asked for either Eifert or Demaryius Thomas, but since he's using Stafford as just a backup for Carr, he doesn't want to lose a starter.
  6. Saw Harry Potter last night, and thought it was pretty solid. I saw one major reviewer (IGN??) who said it was boring when the creatures weren't on the screen, but I disagree. I was engaged in the "human" scenes as well. I do feel like the movie was 2 different storylines just kind of mashed together though.
  7. Ahhh, good 'ole club footed CJ Retherford. Hawk used to gush over him.
  8. Fun idea, but we are all obviously biased for the Sox. What I would like to see happen is all the lead editors of SBNation do a mock winter meetings, where the community on each site engages in trade talks amongst themselves, and then the designated GM relays the group's message to the other team's SBNation page. For instance, South Side Sox (White Sox SBNation page) would message The Crawfish Boxes (Astros SBNation page) to work out a deal. OR, keeping this within SoxTalk, we find a version of SoxTalk among those other team's communities and start messaging them. Maybe each site would create a subforum that is only viewable to a select 15-20 members or so, the "braintrust" of the website, to discuss trades, and then the group GM would PM the other team's designated GM on their website to pass a message along. Not to highjack your thread, but I think that would be pretty dope and interesting to see other team's perspectives on these trades since we all obviously want the Sox to come out ahead in any deals we make in this thread.
  9. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 11:22 PM) I just so happen to have this Melky Cabrera or Todd Frazier guy to offer you. Frazier, fine, but they are downgrading immensely from Springer to Melky, especially defensively.
  10. If you enjoy hip hop/rap, and are worried/fearful about a Trump presidency, Macklemore put out another socially important song.
  11. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 11:07 PM) If I'm Hahn, the ask for Huston is Bregman, Springer, +++ Now they are created a SECOND hole to replace.
  12. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 06:47 PM) Have to get Maitan in a Q trade. So you want him as the centerpiece of a Q trade, but don't want him as the #2 in a Sale trade? Just 24 hours ago you were complaining that he was only 16 and a lot can happen during his development...
  13. QUOTE (beautox @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 07:58 PM) Sale to BOS for Benintendi, Devers, Groome, Swihart & Ball Quintana to HOU for Bregman, Martes, Paulino, Hernandez & Stubbs Frazier and Jones to LAD for Bellinger, Barnes and Lux Wow there is no way the Astros make that trade. If you want Bregman in a Quintana trade, it would probably be Bregman and Martes and no one else. Or Bregman and a couple guys in the back half of their top 10, but there is no way they give all of those pieces up if it's not Sale, and even if it is, they might not.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 06:52 PM) No way you give up three good to great trade chips and not get Sanchez back If the Yankees had a 10% chance of trading Sanchez yesterday, they have a 0% chance of doing it now. They traded McCann to clear a path for Sanchez. The trade I threw out there involves 6 guys who immediately go in to our top 10, and Gleyber Torres who a scout yesterday said he is Javy Baez with plate discipline. That's a scary notion. He's batting like 380+ in the AFL right now, where most of our hitters are batting under .180. Yankees have an awesome amount of prospects to move after the Chapman/Miller/Beltran/McCann trades.
  15. BTW, totally changed my initial feeling of the Dodgers, and went Yankees because of the McCann trade. I feel like they are trying to replenish their system a little before trading off pieces for Sale.
  16. Yay.....another Sale thread to keep up with. But i'll bite. Sale, Frazier, and Jones to Yankees for.... (mlb.com rankings) #1 OF Clint Frazier #2 SS Gleyber Torres #5 OF Blake Rutherford #8 SP Domingo Acevedo #9 SP James Kaprielian #14 SP Chance Adams
  17. Gronk is out. My team is starting to sink a bit....
  18. Ooooh, just bought Planet Coaster on pre-order for 10% off. Can't wait to play tomorrow!
  19. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 11:04 PM) I didn't say I didn't want the kid I just don't want him being the centerpiece. Dansby is the main jewel. Ok...so again...how does saying "Swanson should be the centerpiece" make it inciting, but saying"Swanson and Maitan are the centerpieces" somehow turn you off? Does Maitan being included somehow make Swanson worse?
  20. I don't see any reason to trade Eaton unless someone is willing to overpay for him. Don't shop him, and don't move him for anything less than an overpay.
  21. QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 08:51 PM) I really do too. I like the little nuggets they drop, like what happened to D.C., how Hitler is sick, ect. I watched the first 2 episodes and then forgot and never went back. I found it hard to get in to, despite loving the concept.
  22. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 09:27 PM) Thats what im thinking. People are like give me maitan and swanson as starting points. Maitan just signed this july. Hasn't had any playing time yet that i can find. Waiting for him to progress to majors could possibly go into 2020s. Thats brand new starting out. Sox have to looking at guys that are AA or AAA for sale. They cant wait many years for a guy to get developed How is everyone seeing "Swanson and Maitan should be starting points" and somehow ignoring Dansby Swanson's name? He's a GREAT starting point in his own right. So why not take a generational talent along with him, even if he's 4 or 5 years away? You don't want the Braves top prospect because he's too young? The fact that he's so young and thought of so highly should tell you enough. I wouldn't want Maitan is the ONLY centerpiece of the deal, but you're still getting Dansby friggin Swanson.
  23. I love Inciarte. Some of you may recall me championing a trade of Quintana for a package around Inciarte, Drury, and a couple others from the Dbacks. But Inciarte is 26. He only fits this rebuild if we are ready to compete in 2018. I think we should be targeting players around age 22-24, so they are really to be a real playoff contender by 2019-2020. Advanced metrics have shown a shift in "Prime years" from 28-30 like it used to be, to about 26-28. And if the Braves are really pushing to compete for 2018, Inciarte is a really perfect fit for them right now.
  24. If I am making a deal with Atlanta, I need Swanson. If I am making a deal with the Dodgers, I need Buehler. What I'm trying to say is, I just want Carson Fulmer to be happy. Maybe Sale to ATL and Q to LAD and then Fulmer, Swanson, and Buehler can be the 3 best friends that anyone ever had.
