Rumor: Obama will be part owner within 3 years
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to Carpe Diem's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 11:00 AM) Duncan is the reason why the 2005 World Seties DVD can't be topped. My parents went to college with him, the same college I went to for my freshman year. Him being a White Sox fan was always the icing on the cake for being a fan of his. -
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 05:05 PM) It was the picture Delores's father dug out of the ground in the second or third episode. It supports the 2 timeline theory. There are confirmed 3 timelines at this point.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Nov 27, 2016 -> 09:44 PM) Westworld, just continuing to confirm those fan theories! No s***, they confirmed just about all of them right?

QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 27, 2016 -> 03:33 PM) http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/red_sox...radeable_pieces I would prefer to explore someone like Mike Zunino, who although he can't seem to hit over .200, has huge power, but most importantly, plays really good defense and is a good pitch framer. Swihart has rated below average so far in his short career. Might give the Mariner's a chance to stretch Edwin Diaz back out to starting like he was prior to June of 2016 (now that they moved Walker), or maybe see if Diaz can be a 2-inning Andrew Miller type guy before Robertson comes in to close. Who the hell knows, but them trading Walker and Marte for Segura suggests they might be trying to win now. (Although Mariners did decline option on Iannetta, so they will be without a catcher)

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 01:10 AM) Everyone's political leanings aside, this would probably be the best possible thing to happen to the White Sox since 2005. You'd have the superstar owner that could actually draw free agents. Still holding out hope for Mark Cuban, but I would certainly take Barry O. -

QUOTE (The Critic @ Nov 27, 2016 -> 08:14 AM) Would have preferred Nighthawks, and the logo is a little too LA Kings for me. No one will use the "Golden", they will unofficially be the Vegas Knights. While Nighthawks is a cooler name, I am RELIEVED that there isn't another "Hawks" out there. I already get confused when I see the Atlanta basketball team referenced in pop culture. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 26, 2016 -> 12:21 AM) Yeah, that's only for the big market teams to save their prospects and hope for a bounceback. Not unlike the Verlander situation, but those two guys have clearly changed places in the last 12 months. Nobody would touch Verlander even if they willing to send 25% of his contract the other way. On the positive side, Gray and Archer are both assets that will be worth even more prospects with more typical stat linesgoing into midseason. True about Verlander, but even still, he had a 2.9 WAR and made $20M in his clunker season. Grienke had a 2.2 WAR and made $34M. Both had 5 years left, but Verlander set to make $30M less over those 5 years, and will end his contract at age 36, also while pitching in the AL. Grienke will be 38, and in the NL. Both bad and hard to move contracts, but I think Zack's is tougher. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 26, 2016 -> 12:05 AM) http://www.espn.com/blog/buster-olney/insider/post?id=15060 Looks like Greinke will be on the market too, joining Gray and Archer as options. But in a totally different category. I would think any Grienke trade would be mostly a salary dump. He put up a 2.2 WAR last year and will make $34.4M each year for the next 5 seasons. Whatever team requesting him would probably want $50M or so back, and even then, he's a $24M a year player. He would almost have to be swapped for another high paid player. I would have thought maybe some swap for Albert Pujols, but Dbacks don't need a 1B or an even older player. No idea how they move him without kicking in crazy amounts of money. -
Had no idea the Samsung S7 had a microSD slot and a fingerprint scanner. Decided on that one as my new phone, as much as I enjoyed staying away from Samsung phones. Will go pick it up tomorrow, maybe get a wireless charger.

I want him starting in AAA with a call-up to the team whenever he's earned it, being sometime in late May or later.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 11:18 PM) Ugh, my LG G4 is starting to freak out. I have always loved the LG line of phones for their camera, "knock on" features, and IR blaster remote, but these things NEVER make it the full 2 years until I can get a new phone. My LG G2 broke within the first year, and they sent me a new one. Within a year of that replacement phone, that one broke as well and I had to buy my sister-in-laws Samsung S4 Active. I had that phone until June of 2015 when I jumped up to the LG G4. Again, love the phone, but again, s*** never lasts. That first G4 broke in early December. I used my back up phone until about January when I finally decided to use my warranty on it (I thought it was a 1 time use only thing). Got the replacement phone and then THAT one broke in June of 2016, days before the 1 year warranty were to run out. So they sent me ANOTHER one and said I would now get 90 days of warranty of the third phone. It's now about 170 days later and now THIS one is freaking out too. Turning off randomly, gets stuck in a bootloop, have to constantly remove the battery and cycle it until it comes on. Then I had it on for a few minutes until it suddenly froze up and wouldn't stop vibrating. Pulled the battery out, and now it's stuck in the boot loop again. I had 3 LG G4s, and NONE of them made it 6 months. I've also never dropped any of them, or any other phone. Never broken a phone via physical damage, it's always been like how this one is dying. All I needed was the phone to last until December 4th, and I would have reached the 18 month mark and been able to trade this phone in for a new type of phone. 12 days short of that, and now I can't trade the phone in because this one appears to no longer be in working condition. f*** ME. UPDATE: So I continued to try to get it to come on this morning, and it still failed a bunch. I could get the "Factory Reset" screen to come up, but it wouldn't initiate. Well then I decided to try one last time and then just go take a shower while it sat there looping. Well I came back from the shower and poof, it was "rebuilding android"! It finishing the process, and the "Welcome" screen came up, as if it's been completely wiped factory clean! So I immediately just turned the phone off and will not even attempt to use it anymore, take it to the store on December 5th, and do my 18 month ATT Next upgrade exchange. As long as it works for the 5 minutes or so that the store has it, I'll be able to dump it and get a brand new working phone before it fails again. I am probably done with LG now. Will switch to either the Google Pixel or Samsung S7. Not happy about no longer having removable battery + microSD capabilities. That aspect of it really sucks, but I really don't feel like rolling the dice with LG anymore, despite how much I like their camera and features.

QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Nov 24, 2016 -> 01:38 AM) Thanks man. Intriguing...Johnny Bench award/Pac 12 DPOTY. Has produced solidly for a catcher thus far. My favorite part about him is his incredible control of the strike zone. Only one time, at any level, did he strike out more than he walked. Overall he's played 142 minor league games and has 74 BB to only 63 K. -

QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Nov 24, 2016 -> 01:02 AM) Word on the street is that they're looking at 1B/DH options like Napoli and Beltran. Funny story, my buddy told me last night that he has been hanging out with Napoli quite a bit recently. I told him to get me a scoop on where he wants to sign. -

QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Nov 24, 2016 -> 12:53 AM) Absolutely. The guy's put up absolute monster numbers in the minors without too absurd of a K rate, considering the power. Yeah, his track record in the minors is such that I would love to take a bite on him as a rebuilding team. But again, it really depends on how the Astros view him. Would need an insider or industry source to shed light on that since it's hard to know just by going off his wildly disagreeing numbers. -

QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Nov 24, 2016 -> 12:42 AM) Remove Devenski for Musgrove and add in AJ Reed, and I'd pull the trigger right now. Huge ask, but you have to ask the sky for a player like Sale. AJ Reed would be a interesting buy-low candidate. I wonder how they value him at this point. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 24, 2016 -> 12:33 AM) Because there are four total players in that proposed trade and he's an established major leaguer to some extent. We'd be forgoing a pretty decent prospect by including him in the trade. And quite frankly, I'm not buying him putting up anywhere close to those numbers again. He still may be a solid reliever, but I'm skeptical he'll ever be an elite one again. Like I said, I just don't see the point of having be a key piece in a Chris Sale trade. How the hell do you know? So if Luhnow comes calling with the deal, Hahn's reaction should be.... "Well, we obviously love Bregman, he's legit. Martes and Tucker are two great prospects we'd love to have.....BUT DEVENSKI? f*** YOU BRO. YUCKY POO POO, NEVER CALL ME AGAIN!" So fine, swap out Devenski for their 15th best prospect, it's nothing worth being so hung up over. -
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 04:50 PM) I loved Fantastic Beast, in my opinion the best Harry Potter (related) film since Azkaban. Although I enjoyed the movie, I really hate that a certain actor is coming back for the remainder of the franchise. This actor in my opinion was the best thing about the entire movie, I do like the actor that replaced him but I don't think they can do menacing quite like the original actor did.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 24, 2016 -> 12:09 AM) Why do we want Devenski and why would they want to give him up? Just don't see the benefit of a rebuilding team acquiring a reliever as a key piece. Give me Reed instead and I'd make that deal in a heartbeat. How is he a key piece? Because his name was listed second? I think that was done by the poster simply because he is the 2nd best major leaguer in that deal, the other 2 are prospects. In 2015 he started 22 games and threw 139 innings. In 2016 with the Astros, he spot started 5 games and threw 108 innings. He's no more of a reliever than Hector Santiago was with us, and he's thrown 180+ IP each of the last 3 years. At worst, Devenski could be a 2-3 IP at a time guy, and that's only if the Sox don't give him a rotation spot once they move Sale and Quintana. -

I agree with Dave Cameron's analysis of the trade. Thinks AZ sold high on Segura, bought low on Walker, but Mitch Haniger could be the wild card player. He was awarded the best Dbacks prospect of 2016 after a breakout season, and he plays CF. If he pans out, Seattle probably wins, if he is just a 4th OF, Dbacks probably win assuming Walker becomes a decent #3 starter. Either way, interesting trade. -

Guy on the Astros fan board that was posted early suggested this deal.... Bregman, Devenski, Martes and Kyle Tucker for Sale. Obviously Bregman is awesome. Was ranked anywhere from #22-#49 going in to 2016 before he had an incredible year. Martes is the 19th ranked prospect in baseball, Tucker is #46. And Devenski, whose best pro season came in 2016 in his rookie year when he had a 2.16 ERA, 8.6 K/9, 1.7 BB/9, and a WHIP of only 0.91, was actually drafted by the White Sox in the 25th round before he was TRADED to the Astros for....Brett Myers! Wheeeeeee. Anyway, I would take this deal for sure. Obviously Bregman is a stud, Martes is a top 20 prospect, Tucker is top 50, and Devenski could have figured it all out in the majors. Done deal. -

Gronk not playing really spurned me. I lost by 9 points, and my fill-in TE, Brate, only got 1 point. Also, only got 2 points from Crowell. Again, I will score right at about 100 points and LOSE. I would have beaten 7 of the 9 other teams this week. I am leading the league in POINTS AGAINST by a huge margin.
