Arizona Fall League - 7 Sox prospects
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 10:37 AM) a very good point. let me ask, when was the last time, beside Rodon, that the sox had a top 20 in all the mlb top prospects??? it is kind of funny i was thinking this last nite after i got off soxtalk and i was just thinking. i will handle Anderson with special kid gloves. Sale was ranked #20 by BA, and #19 by BP. -
A consensus of price tags for all the FA's

Dodgers dump Kemp in order to sign Scherzer. I could see that. -
QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 11:00 PM) didn't he have a foot or a hip problem as well Plantar fasciitis

I would LOVE to sentimentally have Quperman back, but he doesn't really make sense for this team unless he is a last option February trade to be our DH. I'd like to aim a little higher than him this early in the offseason.
-
Cuddyer rejected his QO, and signed w/ the Mets. Makes it less likely that CarGo, Stubbs, or Blackmon will be traded. They still have Dickerson on the team, so while they don't have 5 OF now, they still do have 4 of them.

Mets/LAD/NYy interested in Alexei, according to Levine

QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 04:24 PM) Gonna be way too expensive for them, I still think they go after Alexei The Rockies would probably prefer the Mets though, as they have more young talented pitchers to offer. -
Chicago White Sox and WGN-A TV Broadcasts

How does this compare to previous seasons? I feel like the Sox played most Saturday and Sunday games on WGN. -
I guess from this we can surmise that Rodon and Anderson are the only top 100 guys according to BA. I haven't heard enough love about Spencer Adams to think he would make the backend of any top 100 lists.

QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 01:30 PM) the dodgers need to clear up to two outfield positions. they have some heavy contracts the they will need to eat some salary. Right, we all know this, the question is about how much they consider "significant" money. Is $20M all they will eat? Or are they willing to eat half the contract? It's such a massive difference in value that until we find out, it's hard to gauge what a return might be if we don't know the lengths to which they are willing to contribute money.

Don't Overlook the Job Hahn's Doing on the South Side

Have you guys heard Dayn Perry's Fangraphs Audio podcasts with Carson Cistulli?? They are hilarious together. Although I learn the most from the Dave Cameron and Kiley McDaniel podcasts, the Dayn Perry ones are always a nice break and make me laugh. Here's an example of one of them for your listening pleasure. - http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/fangraphs-a...es-all-or-some/ -
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 07:14 AM) Couple things to keep in mind: 1. Lots of teams like Kemp's bat and would like to have him if the Dodgers pay a bunch of money for the contract. There's no way we're going to be able to get him for Danks and expect them to throw in money. Whichever team gets him is going to pay for it -- either by taking on way more money than they want to get him for little talent, or by giving up something of real value to get Kemp at a reasonable salary. 2. Matt Kemp has made it publicly clear that he wants to play center field, and has a a history of inconsistency that appears to be at least partially related to his happiness level. I don't think that he's likely to get exactly what he wants (CF) anywhere, but you can bet he would be very vocally angry if he's relegated to DH, and that's not something that his acquiring team will want to deal with. If we get Kemp, he will be in the field every day, most likely in left. In that case, absolutely no one here should want Matt Kemp. As a CF, he's worth about $12M a year. He's getting paid $22M a year. If $40M and John Danks is out of the question, then Hahn should just hang up the phone because Matt Kemp, in CF, would have to come with about $65M for it to make sense for us, especially since we have a much better CF.

Just picked up Shadow of Mordor from a friend. I'm not a big LoTR guy, so I don't really understand what was going on in the opening video, but so far it definitely has an Assassin's Creed feeling to it.

QUOTE (Vance Law @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 12:01 AM) Kemp would make sense if he wasn't a DH who is owed $110 million. Look at Rosenthal's tweets. No one is going to pay Kemp $110M. How about John Danks and Chris Bassitt for Matt Kemp + $40M. Then we pay Kemp $70M over the next 5 seasons, plus we shave off the remaining $29M from Danks contract, and it's like we are paying Kemp $41M over 5 years. If he's a full time DH, he can be a 3 WAR player.
-
I would definitely like to add Matt Kemp as our DH. It's actually kind of amazing how bad he is defensively. He managed to turn a 140 wRC+ season in to only a 1.8 WAR year because of how HORRENDOUS he is defensively. Matt Kemp was a top 20 offensive player in baseball last year. He produced similar offensive value as Nelson Cruz did. In fact, if you 0 out his defense to an average defender last year with similar offensive value, you'd get 2014's Josh Harrison, who put up a 4.9 WAR. So Kemp's comically bad defense last year cost him about 3 wins. That's a ton. Let's say instead of being a league average OF last year, he spent more than half of his games as a DH like Cruz did, he would have had about a 3.9 WAR. Still 2 wins lost because of his defense. Basically my point is we should get him, and never let him near a glove again.

QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 9, 2014 -> 02:47 PM) the prob is, I would do it in a heart beat if the rtn is starting with those 3 plus a additional pitcher. Yeah, I would take a package of Urias, Seager, Pederson and Schelber for Sale in a second.

2014 Fantasy Football Thread

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 9, 2014 -> 06:29 PM) I am up 41 and I have Lacy tonight but he has Kelvin Benjamin, McCoy and Maclin tomorrow night. I just know I am going to lose. If I lose I will still have 2nd or 3rd most points in the league so it'll be painful. It was nice to have Dez and Megatron together for the first time. They gave me 50+ in a 1/2 PPR league. Which did you trade for? -

ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to LittleHurt05's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Hey, look at that, I'm going to break my 8 game losing streak. LMAO. In fact, I'm going to lead the league in pts in this week, and maybe set a record. I had 3 TD from Romo, 2 from Dez, 1 from Calvin, 2 from Forsett, 1 from Gore. Lions defense played well. Everything worked out. -
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Nov 9, 2014 -> 04:04 PM) The Nautilus is a good clearomizer, but still kind of garbage. Clearomizers are designed for smoking cessation. If you're looking to blow clouds, rebuildables are the only way to go. I started vaping to quit smoking. At some point it became a hobby. With a name like "rebuildable", I get the idea that I have to know how to take these things apart and tinker with making them work. I'm not one who is very good at taking things apart and putting them back together and understanding how they work. My dad is and loves it, but I just don't have the patience for it. Safe to assume this would not be a good fit?

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Nov 9, 2014 -> 11:12 AM) I've been vaping since 2012, make my own juice, build my own coils etc. Kanger MT3's break because they're garbage. Start researching RBA's and RDA's. The only way to get consistent results is to build your own coils. What type of battery are you using? You'll never get good results with an ego. A good starter package that's cheap, low maintenance and dependable is an Eleaf iStick and a Lemo RTA or a Kayfun clone. Start watching lots of YouTube. RipTrippers, PBusardo and GrimmGreen have extensive tutorials. Stay away from vape shops. The mark up on everything is insane and the majority of the people working have no idea wtf they're doing. Learn the basics of Ohms Law. Battery safety is important. Those all look like atomizers. As far as I can tell, I am looking for clearomizers. I have an Ego-T battery. I'm just looking for something that work, and gives me a lot of smoke. I'm not a sophisticated vaper and am not looking to spend much money at all since it's not like I'm a smoker and this is going to save my life or get me off cigarettes. I just do this for fun with my friends mainly. How is the brand Aspire? http://www.smoke-evolution.com/Aspire-BDC-...se-bdc-ce5s.htm or http://www.smoke-evolution.com/Aspire-BVC-...se-bvc-ce5s.htm

QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 9, 2014 -> 07:55 AM) Airplane!!! As for Hahn's quote. What else is he supposed to say? " no, we won't be able to compete next year, sorry.". Its PR bulls*** for right now. On paper, no team with that many holes is a legit contender next year. This does not mean the Sox cannot become contenders but the Sox have a rebuilding team, with a rebuilding farm, with plenty of money to spend on limited quality FA's and not much of a history of spending on multiple big contracts in FA. For right now, the sox being 2015 contenders does not add up although I think they will fill a few holes and continue improving in 2015. *Ding Ding Ding* We've got a winner! -

QUOTE (Baron @ Nov 9, 2014 -> 02:07 AM) Did you even read the article? Do you miss the obvious clues including the thread your posting in(not to mention the one below it)? I can see you just like to ignore information. Theo said the same thing about the Cubs weeks ago...they are meeting with Russell Martin next week but that's probably all bull crap right? Maybe do some actual research...heck a 5 second google search found that article. The quote is "Surely you can't be serious" btw I wish we had a facepalm icon. I could use a few right now. -
