  1. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Sep 11, 2014 -> 03:24 PM) What's the better way to get this phone these days, old school 2 year contract or (ATT NEXT) installment plan? (Right now I'm on month to month basis with ATT). Pros / Cons to each? Which one is cheaper, overall ? Not easy to buy a phone these days My Mom made a terrible decision by switching our family plan to the AT&T Next bulls*** because she wanted a precious iPhone. In doing so, she is going to end up paying something like $500 over the course of 2 years for her iphone 5 or whatever model she got. So while our monthly cost went down like $30 a month, we all now have to pay full price for our phones instead of just waiting the 2 years and getting a HEAVILY discounted new phone. None of us are the type of people who need to constantly get the newest and shiniest thing, so there is really no reason for us to have this plan, especially since we all take care of our stuff very well so a phone breaking is never an issue.
  2. QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 11:55 PM) holy crap, what a game he pitch he just put himself on the map for next yr. hope for the same on the next outings. I would say to temper your excitement on The Hound because afterall, this is Oakland who could be one of the worst offensive teams going right now. This is like dominating the Twins lineup of a couple years ago. While it's encouraging that he didn't get hit around, I'll hold my enthusiasm until he does this to a good hitting ball club. His next 2 starts should be against the Royals and Tigers, so let's see how he comes out of those.
  3. Tonight, the Sox win cost a game on.... Texas, Colorado, Arizona, Minnesota (1/2), Boston, Cubs, Phillies, Padres Sox still have the #9 pick, are 11 GB of the #1 pick, are 3 GB of the #5 pick, and are 3.5 games within protected pick territory.
  4. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 10:39 PM) My dream dog is a golden retriever which we will later in life when its reasonable and I want to name him Sergio. lol Golden Retrievers are amazing if you can stand the shedding. The only reason we aren't getting another Golden is for that very reason. Best personality of any dog you could ever own.
  5. Chris Sale might just throw a no-hitter/perfect game tomorrow.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 10:36 PM) 1) No 2) For someone that talks about the good ol' days a lot, there sure were a lot of fights in your schools. Shameful. 3) People have more common sense than to fight about Sox vs. Cubs in school or, you know, anywhere. Otherwise we get cases like the now crippled Giants fan who was assaulted at a Dodgers game. 4) When both teams are crap, the arguments tended to swing more towards "Well, we're less awful than you." Here is how every conversation went that I remember having in grade school about Cubs vs. Sox. And mind you this conversation is REGARDLESS of current records, because that didn't stop anyone from saying "YOUR TEAM SUCKS!" "Sox suck!" "No! Cubs suck! When was the last time you won a WS?" "When was the last time you guys won a WS? Over 80 years ago?" "80 years is better than 90 years! They never even won in Wrigley!" "Yeah, well at least the Cubs didn't throw a World Series!" "Yeah! Well the Cubs suck!" *repeat* This narrative slightly changed in HS after 2005, but still mostly the same conversation, now with the fact that the Cubs ALSO threw a World Series being included.
  7. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 10:28 PM) Were 8th I believe We are 9th, and the Phillies are are behind us, lost. So we're now just 2 games ahead of them for a top 10 pick, we are 3.5 games ahead of the Reds for a protected pick.
  8. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 09:44 PM) We adopted out dog last year and they named her Daisy. We changed it to Zoey. Our first family dog, a golden retriever, was named Wilbur, and a female dog, no less. Our second golden retriever was named Cleo, and lived with a middle-eastern family. EDIT: I mean that was their previous name before we acquired them. We changed the first dog to Kelly, second dog to Casey.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 10:15 PM) If score holds, still 3.5 up for protected? I'll have to check, but we will ppretty much lose a game on everyone with this win. We are barely a top 10 pick.
  10. Someone should tell Hawk that Samardzija is not a free agent after this season. He keeps saying he wouldn't hate to see him on the Sox next season....
  11. This would be a nice game to lose considering every team worse than us has lost or is going to lose tonight. Only Houston and Arizona are left to play.
  12. QUOTE (G&T @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 08:40 PM) My in-laws have a bailey. It's the most common dog name I can think of. Off the top of my head.... Females: Lady, Chloe, Molly, Bella, Lucy, Roxy, Princess Male: Buddy, Max, Duke, Teddy, Bear, Charlie
  13. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 07:45 PM) http://dogtime.com/top-100-dog-names.html Apparently its the 2nd most common name for male dogs and 9th for female dogs. I just realized my uncle named his human twins the 1st and 2nd most popular male dog names, so thats something I guess. The fact that it's a more commonly used male name is even more suprising to me. I've never even heard of a single male anything named Bailey, human or dog.
  14. I think my LG G2 is a 5.2" screen, and that's about as big as I would want it. I sometimes need a second hand just to reach the corners, and this phone has almost no bevel. I think a 5" screen would be about perfect.
  15. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 03:12 PM) I believe they broke quite easily from falls, just not from bending them and they just didn't scratch. Yep. Looks like Marques Brownlee misled me.
  16. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 02:51 PM) The idea was kind of cool, but the second I heard they cost about 16$ each to manufacture, I figured there was no way that was actually going to happen yet beyond some beta-test phones considering Gorilla Glass 3 panels cost 3$. The idea of never having to worry about a broken or scratched screen is more than just "kind of cool", at least to me. Get me a waterproof phone with sapphire glass (or an equivalent) and I'll be in love.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 02:51 PM) Yeah, I just play games with the Blackhawks. It takes like 20 minutes to get a game in and the stats come out realistic. I'm talking about Be a Pro.
  18. Wait, so the new iphones aren't using Sapphire glass like they were rumored to be using? That was the ONE feature I've ever seen in an iphone that I was actually jealous of not having on any Android phone. What a letdown that must be for Apple fanboys.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 01:43 PM) I see what you did here, clever! Subconscious Cubs' marketing ploy. They would have been better suited not coming up with a cast that includes the likes of Red and Josh as their "intellectuals" in terms of figuring things out. And one random Asian girl as their "hot/naked" girl, along with the yoga "doctor" and that annoying chicken farmers/composting girl from Georgia. Heck, I would much rather watch the original cast of some of the Real World shows back in the 1990's on the Utopia set than this collection of misfits. I get why they did it, because they want conflict/drama obviously, but again, I keep going back to The Colony, where they cast people who are experts of a particular craft and had very little sex appeal and all o them were useful in some way. In Utopia, it seems about 75% of these people are useless and do absolutely nothing. I don't watch Big Brother or The Real World, I don't want to see dumb people sitting around fighting and not doing anything productive. I want to see progress in this new community. I want to see s*** being built, infrastructure being laid out, society forming, etc.
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 01:42 PM) That would be brutal. Yes, it would be. After playing The Show with simulated counts turned on, I can't even imagine playing a brutally long hour long baseball game anymore. I want fast paced and quick games. You can only turn the period lengths down so much before sacrificing realistic statistics.
  21. In regards to Utopia last night, I'm very disappointed that in order to get electricity, they just had to bury a cable from the barn to the electric box at the front gate. How lame is that? I wanted to see something like in The Colony where they have engineers and inventors in the group who figure out how rig together soler panels and hang and run lights and do everything except make their own lightbulbs. I found that way more interesting than telling them to go plug in some cables to a prewired and outfitted barn. That takes no brain power, just the manpower needed to bury a trench.
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 11:37 AM) For me, it's a no-brainer purchase. What's missing is stuff like the EASHL which is something I never do anyway. Apparently it's a great game of hockey, the franchise mode works (which is all I ever do - the quest for Toews/Kane dual 100 point campaigns is always fun), and online play against my friends works. I picked it up yesterday, though it didn't get to spin at all because Destiny is so amazing. No worries, NHL always has a super long shelf life for me. You're a big fan of the EASHL, right Joe? If that's the case, apparently EA will be adding it back in as a patch, so you can probably just pick it up when it drops to $50 or when you can nab it for $40 on eBay. The thing that worried me the most was that they said Be a Pro got stripped down, even removing the shortcut to skip to the next shift. That's a feature breaker for me. I have no interest in sitting on the bench for a minute at a time watching the CPU play, I just want to hit a button and have my next shift start.
  23. White Sox gained a game on..... Minnesota, Houston. Sox still have the #9 pick, are 10 GB of the #1 pick, are 2 GB of the #5 pick, and are 3.5 games ahead of a protected pick.
