QUOTE (Heads22 @ Sep 15, 2014 -> 08:30 PM) he's a top 5 hitter in baseball, and a bargain at what we are paying him. neat According to offensive WAR, he's just a SMIDGE below McCutchen for 2nd best hitter in baseball this year.

So.... Jacob DeGrom struck out for the first 8 batters he saw tonight..... He now has 13 K through 6 IP.

Are these podcasts on TuneIn? Because I listen to baseball podcasts every night when I got to sleep, and it's always good to have another group to listen to once I listen to all the new Fansgraphs Audio and Baseball America.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 14, 2014 -> 11:38 PM) He's 13-37 hitting .350. He hit two homers in a game (a win) and two triples in another game ( a win). I don't understand WAR. Are u saying he's been GOOD with Baltimore and was GOOD in Chicago? Cause his traditional stat numbers in Baltimore have been excellent. It says he has helped his team in 37 AB the same amount he helped the Sox over 5 months. Basically he was awful with the Sox, and has been awesome with the Orioles.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Sep 15, 2014 -> 12:37 AM) I don't want to derail the topic you guys started but: I am wanting to get a new phone in the next couple months, I am an android guy so what is the best phone out there? Is there any new ones coming out before the end of the year that are worth the wait? Not really wanting to wait for the newest one because of the prize but depends on the phone/price and the alternatives I haven't been in the phone market for a year now, but off the top of my head you should look in the Galaxy S5, LG G3, HTC One M8, and the new Moto X.

The first half of the Bears game was going nearly perfectly for me. Then Cutler threw 3 TD in the 2nd half and I got smoked this week. I need RBs so f***ing bad. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 15, 2014 -> 12:18 AM) A kind of illegal movie/TV show app that you can find by Googling. I used to use it, but I found MovieDroid a bit better. I searched the Google PlayStore, but found nothing. Is this something I have to root my phone to use? And do both Show Box and MovieDroid have Chromecast support?
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 14, 2014 -> 08:55 PM) For those two apps, it's built-in. I use it for YouTube from my computer rather frequently. Interesting. If we didn't already have 4 chromecasts, I would consider the Roku, but at this point we are too well settled. I just wish Chromecast would get Showtime Anytime support, although I've heard it never will do to other agreements.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 14, 2014 -> 08:44 PM) I prefer the Chromecast to Roku as well and I was huge on the Chromecast. Heck, even my girlfriend's family who are the least technological people I know wanted a few for Christmas because it is so easy to use. Roku still has more apps, but that will change soon. WatchESPN + Showbox + Chromecast = Best device ever. What's Showbox?

QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 14, 2014 -> 08:02 PM) yeah, but I guess that tommy john surgery also help. I have to give the kid credit for continue to do pitch when hurt. I wonder if guys like this, or Pat Venditte, or others who are ambidextrous pitchers can actually go something like 140 pitches a start, if you think his arm fatigue will be lessened in each arm if he is only throwing 70 pitches with each arm, or however the split may occur. Steve Stone always says something like if your legs can carry you through 6 innings, your arm can carry you the last 3. Well what if EACH arm can carry him the last 3. Could someone like this pitch a 12-inning complete game? I'm sure someone has looked in to this before.

QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 14, 2014 -> 11:06 PM) overall you do have a point. that is all I will say with that respect. btw, it is nice to talk about the realm of possibilities, not to say this is the final product. also it is enjoyable to know more about the players and their profile. Oh, don't get me wrong, I like reading about some of the amateur talent, I am just saying I'm not sitting here thinking I hope "xxxx" falls to us, or I hope we can get a top 5 pick because then we can get "xxxx". It will all change so much that I don't care to worry myself with who I WANT to get yet, but having some background on a group of them now is helpful. -

QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 14, 2014 -> 08:07 PM) yeah I agree, the first 3 are or should make up the 3 pitchers except for the hs ss who may put himself into the running. the idea situation would be the sox pick #3. but that is a pipedream. I'm not really even looking at who the top picks are yet, since it will change so much between now and then. I don't believe there is even a consensus #1 at this point either. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 14, 2014 -> 06:47 PM) 10 second run off is stupid. The injured player should get the chance to get off the field in time, either by himself or with help. They easily could have spiked that ball and kicked a FG. As a Rams fan, I'm glad they didn't, but it just sucks to lose that way. -

Well, today was a good day for us. We gained a game on.... Houston, Texas, Minnesota, Boston, Arizona. Sox still have the 9th pick, are 11 GB of the #1 pick, are 5.5 GB of the #5 pick, and are still 2.5 games ahead of the Reds for a protected pick. -

Oh great, I'm playing against Antonio Gates right now, and he has 3 TD. Well, I don't think anything can save me now, unless the Bears get shut out and kept under like 200 yards, AND Frank Gore and Vernon Davis combine for 3 or 4 TD. -
QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 14, 2014 -> 04:56 PM) good point, I would imagine he will also need to change his glove as well. I didn't notice if his glove had an extra finger or not, like Pan Venditte's.

Oohh Zac Stacy with an early TD. That'll work. -
QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Sep 14, 2014 -> 12:17 PM) Thanks for bringing him up.I had not heard of him and I'm not all that far from Hampshire. Found this at BA on him and a video. http://www.baseballamerica.com/college/cap...cus-ryan-perez/ Kid shows pretty good off speed stuff and movement on the FB. Very interesting! Kind of odd that most of the ABs in that video featured a R-L matchup. I wonder if that is his team utilizing splits, or if maybe he starts and finishes a game all from one side?

I could really use a big game out of Vernon Davis/Frank Gore tonight. I'm projected to lose by about 15 pts right now. -
QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 14, 2014 -> 03:19 PM) I can't figure out whether the Sox really like Sanchez more than Semien or if something else is going on - like they think they need to see Sanchez up close to decide if he's worth a shot next year and have already decided Semien will be up next year. I have to say, though, that would be some odd logic I hope they are just showcasing Sanchez for a trade.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 14, 2014 -> 10:49 AM) Not necessarily that but the ball gets kicked or bounces away a lot of times in that situation. You better be 100 percent sure you're getting in the endzone when you take off on that play. It does? Maybe I don't watch enough college football, and I don't, but I don't recall ever seeing a final play of the game being cut short because the ref dropped the football and had to go chase it down. -
QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 14, 2014 -> 08:48 AM) You know Roku can be controlled via phone too, right? It's not as castable - only Netflix and Youtube support casting - but there's no need for another remote. But are those things built in to the actual Netflix and Youtube apps? Or do you have to open the Roku app, then choose netflix and cast it? I love how Chromecast is integrated into each of the apps on their own. I use Netflix, Youtube, HBOGO, RealPlayer, and Pandora through chromecast many times a week.

This team makes me tear my hair out. This awful season gets even worse with 4 straight meaningless wins, and beating the Twins makes it even worse. This team just continues to kick us in the nuts. After today's 2 meaningless wins..... Sox lost games on....every single damn team in baseball. But below are the teams we lost a full 1 and 1/2 games on.... Houston, Colorado, Minnesota, Boston, Padres The Sox still have the 9th pick, they are 12 GB of the #1 pick, are 5.5 GB of the #5 pick, and are 2.5 games ahead of the Reds for a protected pick. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 13, 2014 -> 11:08 PM) They wear "unique" uniforms for the Shamrock Series games. Most people hate them but the players seem to think they are cool. So far two very "meh" defensive games sandwiching the one outstanding one. With USC and Louisville both losing today, I don't see ND getting into the playoff with a loss, and I don't see this team winning at FSU. Only four starters (if you include the kicker) in their last year of eligibility though. I actually really liked tonight's uniforms. They reminded me a lot of the STL Rams uniforms, which I love.
