  1. I want Gillaspie or Reetz with our 2nd pick.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 3, 2014 -> 04:10 PM) Think about the way Verlander has learned how to pitch if you need an example of where it works. He still has the big fastball but doesn't break it out unless he's in trouble. Take a look at that 2013 velocity chart; he's got games where he has >10 mph spread in his fastball. That's ridiculous. That's actually exactly who I was going to bring up, but we haven't heard Kolek having the kind of secondary stuff that Verlander has. That's why Jonathan Broxton was kind of the comp I've always had in mind for Kolek.
  3. Just saw the tweets about Jackson and the Marlins. Absolutely boner time if that happens.
  4. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jun 3, 2014 -> 03:37 PM) maybe it was posted already, but saw this video today of kolek It just scares me how all the talk, all the time, is about his big fastball. Makes me think he is going to blow his arm out trying to hit 100+ every time. I wonder if a team grabs him if they will tell him they want him to sit at 95-96 instead, and just use the 100 laser if he really needs it. 100+ for a reliever is fine, but for a starter that worries me.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 3, 2014 -> 08:41 AM) At worst, the puck was contacted level with the cross bar. Do you know a board we can go to where people who've liked the sport longer than 4 years and tune in beyond the playoffs go? I can't stand it in this thread any longer. Cool, see ya later.
  6. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 3, 2014 -> 06:06 AM) The Silicon Valley finale was great. The group trying to figure out how Erlich could jerk off 800 guys in 10 minutes might have been one of the funniest things I've seen. Oh yeah, I've gone back and watched that scene multiple times now. It's pretty damn brilliant.
  7. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jun 3, 2014 -> 01:04 AM) Would have been nice to see a freeze frame of that on TV last night. I guess the league probably frowns on that though to avoid second guessing during the game. "Stop it right there...." I'm not sure where the picture came from, but I think it's from a still camera, not a video camera. I don't remember seeing that angle during the broadcast, at least. I'm surprised there isn't a net-level camera mounted on either end of the ice though.
  8. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 3, 2014 -> 01:09 AM) First of all, that's not 2 Kings goals. It's the same Carter goal in both. That photo shows absolutely nothing. So his stick was above the cross bar at some point. So what. Can't see the puck contact there. The replays they showed, which we all saw, showed that it wasn't a high stick. The puck was contacted at or below the bar.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 3, 2014 -> 12:10 AM) Anybody wake up today pissed off about the Hawks? I can hardly believe they lost Game Seven at home. Hawks looked like they were going to roll when it was 2-0. As great as the Kings are ... I feel like it was a pretty big choke to blow that 2-0 lead in Chicago. Opportunity lost when you have home ice in Game 7. Man. Tell me if I'm wrong. If you experts tell me the Kings are that much better of a team, then I'll shut up. Admittedly I'm no hockey expert but damn, home ice in Game Seven and a 2-0 lead to boot ... I was upset about the dumb way that they lost, but then even moreso mad today when I saw these 2 pictures that show 2 invalid Kings goals that were not called (hard to fault the refs for the tip-in one though, that is a still camera, not a video camera, I believe). Jeff Carter offsides on the 1st Kings goal..... And then of course the tip-in that was, in fact, above the crossbar.....
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 11:32 AM) So who are the leading candidates to have been playing through major injuries? I'm hoping Seabrook had something going on, so there is some excuse for how awful he played. I'm expecting to find out that Seabrook is 5 months pregnant.
  11. "Sierra goes over in to the stands, battles Andre Either who is in the stands for some reason, and makes the catch. Get out of their Either!" LOL. I love Stone Pony.
  12. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 11:36 PM) 1-0. Actually, Gordon was having a pretty good game until that inning. You're right, I forgot he blind-squirrel'd a single to right.
  13. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 11:34 PM) Take Abreu HR away Sox stagnant as hell on offense again. Take away Gordon Beckham and we are winning 2-0.
  14. You know who is on our bench who hits Kershaw better than Konerko? ADAM f***ING DUNN. Jesus christ, if you don't want to put him in the OF (even though you said you'd do it tomorrow), then for the love of f***, let him pinch hit off the pitcher he DESTROYS. I bet you could tell Robin Dunn's slashline vs. Kershaw, and he'd be hearing those numbers for the first time. Or he'd go "LALALALALA, LEFTY VS. LEFTY, LALALALALA"
  15. So instead of Adam Dunn playing LF against a guy he is hitting .615 off of with a 2.335 OPS against in his career, instead, Robin will give him the day off and instead play him in LF tomorrow against Dan Haren, whom he is hitting a career .111 against with 50% K-rate and .516 OPS. f***ing brilliant. This is what happens when you blinding follow the L/R matchups and never actually LOOK at the numbers vs. another pitcher/handedness. What an idiot.
  16. He's fine. The sky is not falling. Resume normal time-killing activities.
  17. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 06:25 PM) Trey Michalczewski homer
  18. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 02:49 PM) I've seen this said by a few people...and you do realize that most of the features they added were available in the jailbreak community long BEFORE they were available on Android, right? Not to mention the ideas that are now a part of base Android that were originally developed by Android users within their hacker community. Can we stop pretending Google invented all of these things, when they've ripped just as many ideas from elsewhere as Apple has, and for that matter, Microsoft has? To add to this, when someone comes out with an awesome feature, I'd be hard pressed to blame a competitor from copying the idea and implementing it in their own vision, which is what happens in the OS market, and always has, whether it be mobile OS's or desktops. Now, stealing someones source code and re-using it is one thing, but taking an idea and implementing it in your own way is another. I have no love for software patents, so when these companies steal ideas from each other, as they've been doing since the 80's, I'm all for it. I've always been baffled by people somehow thinking Apple should just never implement any new features because they already exist elsewhere...this has to be the stupidest mentality that I'm aware of, and it exists in excess in the tech community. Revolutionary.
  19. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 04:55 PM) Because Sale is going to break and he's bad at baseball. They just discussed Sale's crazy start to this season on IT. Chris Rose said "Yeah, I love watching the guy pitch, but I feel like he is going to break in half at any moment." That about sums up the media's continued disrespect towards Chris Sale. He's good, but he's about to explode, so....meh.
  20. Tanaka at #6!?!!? LMAO. Wacha and Teheran above Sale? What a f***ing joke.
  21. We should easily be able to trade Beckham for a comp A pick.
  22. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jun 1, 2014 -> 11:28 PM) Twins representative for the ASG, this implying Phil Hughes would probably make it instead No no no, I was referring to Phil Hughes being the starting pitcher for the game. He absolutely deserves to make the all-star game, regardless of where it's being played or needed to represent the Twins. I am saying I can see them giving him the nod to START over guys like Sale or Buehrle, simply because he is the hometown guy.
  23. I don't watch GoT, what happened? I'll probably go watch that scene. EDIT: So I happen to flip on HBO, it was on, and it was at the very end with a scene with 2 dudes fighting and a hobbit was looking concerned. The one guy punched the other guys teeth out and then somehow crushed his skull in to pieces with his thumbs? Was that the scene?
