  1. Matt Zaleski had a good night. 8 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K Unfortunately he is 29 and a non-prospect, but his is dominating this season in AA. 20 1/3 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 18 K, 0.44 ERA, 0.44 WHIP, 9 K/BB
  2. QUOTE (daggins @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 04:45 PM) more like caught a case of not being able to hit the ball. Not being able to hit > Not being able to field
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 04:11 PM) The important detail left out is what is left out of that article. What does it take to trigger a claim? Missed starts? DL time? A specific minimum length of DL time? Yeah, I was looking for that too. It seems like details of the insurance must be rather unknown, except for the figure of 70%. I wonder if it means if he only gets paid 30% of his money while he is on the DL. So maybe that means he can lose a total of 70% of his entire yearly salary if he misses the whole 2011 season? Not sure.
  4. White Sox have insurance on Peavy for reported around 70% of his contract? http://www.csnchicago.com/04/19/11/Kaplan-...487&qv=1#bp Still sucks to lose all those players in the trade, but at least we apparently won't be on the hook for all that money.
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 03:33 PM) There's only one way to make that sadness go away. Smoke pot today instead?
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 18, 2011 -> 06:09 PM) I tried to watch it, made it about 1 hour in and gave up. Maybe it's hard to stomach when juxtaposed with Uncle Boonme Who Can Recall His Past Lives. Bruce Davison, for God knows what reason, took that job for a paycheck, but his presence keeps it from being a complete comedy. Some of the things, like the "bevy of babes" following Van Dyke (I think Dick Van Dyke's grandson) arounding, the submarine crew, the special effects on the glacier, they absolutely cracked me up. The dialogue is what you'd expect from Michael Bay, but there's a dearth of special effects so it's really jarring, and the extras are so "non-seasoned" that it's hilarious. Brooke Burns has actually gotten some positive reviews for her performance. She reminded me of Denise Richards as a nuclear physicist in one of those Bond films. I couldn't stop laughing when all the people were just randomly falling down, and they ALL were tripping over the exact same staircase. lol. Also, there were a lot of canned shots of the ship and the safety boats that were all the same, repeating animations. Not sure if you made it this far, but there is one hilarious scene where the macho guy is in the elevator w/ the girls and the wave hits. His face just smashes right in to the glass of the emergency ax. It was so funny. And then he gets up, and throws his elbow in to the last remaining little piece of glass to get the ax out, even though most of the glass was already broken and he could have just pulled the ax out. Oh man, I recommend finishing the movie. Also, when the girl gets cut in half by the door, I almost gave up on the movie. That was just so "oh give me a break". Oh, and the helicopter exploding when the wave hits it. Lol, wow.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 18, 2011 -> 04:52 PM) So 4 errors in 12 games and 0 walks in 47 ABs is valuable? Sample size much?
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 18, 2011 -> 04:34 PM) Not very well from what I've seen. And what does that have to do with taking a walk? Because taking a walk is on the offensive side of things, something that Morel doesn't have to excel at to be valuable. The opposite is true for Viciedo.
  9. Mine would be nothing, because I do not and won't ever own an ipod....so...
  10. Wow. What the hell Ortega? I love that and the Travis Snider captions.
  11. QUOTE (forrestg @ Apr 18, 2011 -> 01:53 PM) No comment yet on Cameron Bayne's 0.000 era after 14 innings of work at Winston Salem. Flavum said something about him having a good game in the original post.
  12. Saw Titanic 2 today on Netflix. One of the best comedies of 2010, IMO.
  13. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 06:00 PM) You guys are ridiculous for trying to excuse the actions of Kane and chalking it up to "being young." Kane is the exception, not the rule. The rest of the young NHL isn't drunk and in trouble all the time. Bet people said the same s*** about Theo Fleury. Lol, how do you sit down, what with that stick up your ass and all. Kane had 1 incident in Buffalo, but this kid just can't stay out of trouble! Kaner makes Josh Hamilton and Pacman Jones look likes p*****s. Am I right?
  14. Phegley went 2/4, with 2 doubles. Silverio went 3/3, 1 RBI
  15. And there it is. Juan with a lazy pop up to end the game......
  16. Oh boy. Up to Juan. He REALLY needs to get himself in good graces with Sox fans right about now....
  17. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 04:46 PM) Here's hoping your fantasy bullpen is in shambles! Oh yeah, I'll take it.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 04:45 PM) Ok, I'll applaud the decent bunt and it avoids the DP. Farmer and DJ made it sound like it was an excellent bunt that anyone would above average speed would have beaten out.
  19. No doubt that AJ is bunting. If Walden blows this, then my fantasy bullpen is in shambles.
  20. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 03:01 PM) You just know MB is giving some more runs up. There you go. Trumbo.
  21. QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 12:35 PM) What do Rios, Peavy, and Dunn have in common? They all have a vowel in their names?
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 11:59 AM) Yeah... that was just weird. Lol, how is it weird that I don't think the behavior of a 20-22 year old is just him being a 20-22 year old and not being a d-bag? Just like Controlled Chaos said, if you expect all 22-year-olds to act like Toews, you are going to be rudely disappointed. Toews is the exception, not the rule. You guys need to lighten up I guess.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 11:59 PM) This. He may not be an all-around player like Toews and may be 22 years old, but you don't find talent like him very easily. He averages over a point a game and has offensive skills that very few in the game do. $6.3 million is a big number, but that's how much any player like him costs. Fixed your post.
  24. QUOTE (YASNY @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 01:45 AM) Just call this a gut feeling, a hunch or whatever ... but if the Sox can't turn this around quickly that there will be a new manager by May 15th. They have the talent but are not playing up to their capabilities. I've always been an Ozzie supporter, but it's the manager that falls on the sword. My guess is that they'd give Cora a shot, but I think I'd prefer Buddy Bell. It will be interesting to what kind of responses I get to this post. Bring it. Beware the Ides of May.
  25. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 12:27 AM) Good line, but seriously the call was classic. How many radio hosts have the balls to call a customer an idiot? A caller is a customer of sorts. This was godlike radio. Apparently more than you think. But I'd like to hear what the guy had to say. I love hearing irrational fans get angry.
