  1. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Apr 26, 2011 -> 12:01 PM) Great read on Pauli and Walker in the NYT. Link Interesting quote: Well, great. Now that we've signed Paulie, we can get rid of Walk now.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 10:19 PM) If a crazy, suicidal f*** jumps off the top of the Sears Tower (I will never refer to it as the Willis Tower), I don't have to wait until he/she hits the ground to no that fool is dead. s***ty analogy. But same difference. I know you're an optimist. I have no problem with that. It's a natural tendency to think the team that you cheer for and love can do something with a player(s) that nobody else could. But those that are not drinking the kool-aid just because said player happens to be a White Sox shouldn't be looked upon as evil demons that just like to be negative for the sake of being negative. I've said this many times before. If the Cubs were set to insert Humber into their rotation EVERY single poster on this board, and that includes you SS2K5 and JoeCool, would be laughing their asses off. This is undeniable fact. Now if somehow, someway, Humber pulls a horseshoe out his ass and is even serviceable, great. It won't make me feel stupid for not expecting a thing from him this year. He's done nothing in his career, outside of being a high draft pick sever years ago, that warrants any type of faith. BUMP
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 11:27 PM) Little early to be declaring Humber a Coop masterpiece, isn't it? Remember Scott Schoenweis? Yeah, even I, who was one of the most confident in Humber before the season, think we need to give him at least 2-3 more solid starts before I believe he has really turned the corner. And by that time, Peavy will probably be ready, so it's going to be interesting to see what Ozzie does.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 10:55 PM) OK guys, let's cut the Luongo is a choker talk and how we are in his head, etc. and discuss technical aspects of Game Seven. What do you see as technically the key to the Hawks winning? Vancouver is going to be fired up beyond belief, probably even moreso than the Hawks, since Vancouver is the One Seed and THIS IS IT for them. It's on their home ice where the Hawks flattened them, 5-0. Is it all on our goalie? To have the first period of his life? I fully expect the Canucks to pepper him with five or more picture-perfect shots that have a reasonable chance of going in, during the all-important first period. I'm saying they'll have more than five shots, of course, but at least five that could beat Crawford on a given night. Can Crawford play the game of his life? Yes, I'm putting it all on Crawford, cause I feel the Canucks are going to out play the Hawks big time in period No. One. Percentage wise, what chance do you give Chicago of winning? 30? 70? What?? 60% chance. I think the Hawks momentum is huge right now, and I think the goalie problems in Vancouver will make them a little nervous.
  5. The most important thing (IMO) about this start for Humber, is now he has film to go and watch, and make sure he repeats the motions. He pitched incredible against a great offense. This is PERFECT footage for him to study. This isn't a guy getting through a mediocre Royals offense. These are very good hitters, and he did a great job. I hope Coop has the game footage ready for him to learn.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 07:56 PM) All I know is my MLB.tv doesn't work on PS3 during this, so I'm pissed. Going to have to watch the Jered Weaver start tonight on my lappy. Really? Netflix and the internet browser does.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 10:21 PM) When his curveball is on he reminds me so much of Gavin Floyd it's scary. Don't see the Garland in him necessarily. He always reminds me of Broadway, and that scares the hell out of me.
  8. Is that Wilkins 3rd HR in like....5 games or so? Nice to see his power coming around.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 09:29 PM) Extend Phil Humber. lol. I liked the comment in the gamethread where someone said "Sign him to a 15 year deal before this kid gets expensive". So sign him through age 43? Lol. I'm not sure everyone realized that Humber is older than Danks and Floyd, and almost as old as Peavy.
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 10:04 PM) I think I'm going to pick up Philip Humber in my fantasy league with J4L just to rub it in his face. Lol, then offer him a trade. Humber for his best pitcher.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 09:58 PM) Sergio needs a nickname and not some s***ty one like "The Surge" I don't have a nickname, but I've always liked the fact that his initials and his former position are the same. SS.
  12. I hope J4L didn't see the game tonight. He would be fuming mad to see Humber actually contributed to a win in his career. For the rest of us..... HUMBERGER!
  13. Oh man, would love to have The Bridge in scoring position for Paulie. PK is pretty clutch.
  14. I wonder if Ozzie will let his new closer try for the save, or give it to Thornton w/ this lefty-heavy lineup.
  15. Awesome snag Santos. Using those SS skills!
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 08:37 PM) Mandatory is optional in college Yeah, but my roommate is already ditching, and if neither one of us go, we are screwed. I'm going to see if I can throw on the game on the TV thats in the lounge. Hopefully since he is a baseball fan, he will understand.
  17. I have a mandatory dorm meeting in 20 minutes. This is going to be a tough decision.
  18. Beautiful job by Humber recovering from that bulls*** HBP. Very, very clean DP turn by Paulie and Alexei, and Humber right where he should be.
  19. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 08:22 PM) whew...looked like a bad line by Q but wind blowing in Yeah, that looked like a gapper all the way.
  20. Right handers are 2 for 26 vs. Humber this year? Holy mother of splits.
  21. Humber seemed to be getting a little squeezed in this 4th inning. Oh well, just keep them off the board.
  22. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 05:03 PM) :lolhitting :lolhitting :lolhitting
