MLB '11 The Show
QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 06:04 PM) Demo is out right now. Be warned: it's 3 GB. It will take a while to download. Yep, I started mine 16 minutes ago and it's at 8%. Extrapolated out, it figures to be a 3 hr, 20 min download.

DIY: Installing a car stereo
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 04:12 PM) There's usually some electronics hobbyists/professionals on the forums who just like to tinker and figure things out. For my car, someone figured out how to reprogram the whole dash and activate features not available on the US models. But it also might be more expensive or more work than it's worth. such as this suggestion I found through random googling: Actually the ecomm error can be corrected quite easliy. This will however require a trip to best buy unless you can find the part online. You'll need a reverse harness to power the factory radio. Then plug that stupid extra plug back in the stock radio and bury the factory radio in the dash. The part # for the reverse harness is 71-7001. All that you have to wire up is constant accy and you'll have to make a ground for the stock radio. Any other questions email me owuld be best since I don't check this too often. That suggestion you found is VERY encouraging since after a little googling myself, I found that everyone was suggesting that same harness. So during my last class, I ordered that 71-7001 from Amazon for $8, and since I am a Prime Member, got free 2-day shipping. I had no idea it would also be my fix for the E COMM error, but this is awesome news. EDIT: Damnit, apparently I bought the 70-7001, and not the 71-7001. Ahhh, oh well, the part about "bury the factory stereo somewhere in the dash" concerned me.

DIY: Installing a car stereo
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 03:30 PM) I kind of doubt that's fixable. The small display is expecting data from the stereo, and after market stereos aren't like to be programmed to send data to the Galant's computer. That sucks. :/ And I've tried to find some good Galant forums, but I can't find any that are active or have something I am looking for.

DIY: Installing a car stereo
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 02:44 PM) Looks pretty easy any way you go. Unclip the dash piece and you will have full access to pull that thing out. The thing that is going to suck is losing my display near the top of my dash. I've read that once you install an aftermarket stereo, the display just reads "E COMM". Sucks.

DIY: Installing a car stereo
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 02:44 PM) Oh, now you made it more interesting, are you contemplating doing a Double-DIN? You have the room for it. I know, it's crossed my mind, but that just means more money, more complications, and losing a nice little storage spot that I will use to hold my Zune when plugged into the AUX, and lighters and other nick-knacks. But maybe at some point in the future if I have extra cash lying around or can get one real cheap somewhere.

DIY: Installing a car stereo
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 02:40 PM) If it has a clean area to install the new cage, I wouldnt bother with crutchfield as its a little more expensive than other places. I've done a bunch of installs back in the day myself and they are fairly easy to complete on your own. This is what my stereo and inside of the car looks like.... http://carreviewsandnews.com/images/2004mi...ishigalant6.jpg

DIY: Installing a car stereo
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 02:14 PM) If you run into a snag while installing the stereo, you can give Crutchfield a call (24/7 I think). I did that a few years ago with a '04 Grand Am and they were able to quickly help me identify the wiring problem and correct it. That may be worth $20. I shopped around and found that Crutchfield was the best price for what I was looking for anyway, though. If you have an iPod, consider looking at the Pioneer headunits. They have built-in iPod control so you don't have to pay $50-100 for an iPod module like most other stereos. I do not own an ipod, so that's no issue for me. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 02:19 PM) Is your stock stereo integrated into anything or is it a classic pull-out type of head unit? classic pull-out type in the traditional rectangle box-looking slot. And something interesting of note, I looked up the stereo I want to buy on Crutchfield, and they say it's been discontinued and they don't sell it. That's kind of interesting to me since you can still buy it on JVC's website and it's a pretty new model of theirs.

White Sox Off-Season Catch All Thread
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 05:38 PM) awesome, thank you! looks like he's throwing about as hard as he does in warmups. still a little recoil, though. I highly doubt they are going to change him from not recoiling at all. He has probably been doing it for the past 15 years or his life or so.

Lol Herm...... "I hate that Quentin is losing more weight than I am. I might have to cancel my daily Portillo's orders that I have over-nighted."

Glad Quentin decided to lose weight and get in better shape, because he really needed it.... Oh wait, no he didn't. Hope he isn't too fragile to take 30-40 pitches off the arm.

DIY: Installing a car stereo
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 01:57 PM) If you order from a place that specializes in this sort of thing - like Crutchfield - they will send you a complete kit for your specific car, and complete instructions. I've done it twice, and it was pretty easy both times. Plus ordering that sort of thing online is cheaper, and, they will filter your options to what works only on your car. I was going to buy from Crutchfield until I realized that I can get the same stereo on Amazon for $20 cheaper, and it also comes w/ a harness and installation kit + instructions.

MLB '11 The Show
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 10:25 AM) I'll wait to trade in '10 until I get a few "games" of that in to see if I like the new hitting. I'll end up buying it, though, I just know it. I've heard the hitting is real tough to get used to, but the pitching is far superior. I think the only one I will use of the new stick controls are the fielding ones.

2 in a row! We need to rip off 5-6 in a row before I am comfortable, but looking at the standings, it's nice to see we are only 4 pts out of 4th place, even if we are currently in 11th. lol. Talk about a bunched up leaderboard!

MLB '11 The Show
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 05:17 PM) This is probably an absurdly dumb question. But I don't know since I took like a 5 year hiatus on playing video games until this fall. But is The Show the best baseball game out there? Isn't there a 2k11 as well? It's like comparing Madden to Techmobowl. The Show is so vastly superior that if SCEA ever decided to port the game over to Xbox, 2K would just pull out of the baseball market all together.

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 12:44 PM) Kaner's SO goal was sick. CC coming so far out of the net on SO attempts makes me real nervous, but I like how it shows no fear. I'd rather have that then Turco's aggressive poke checks.

Starting Rotation already set?
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 20, 2011 -> 08:56 PM) Are you serious? You're more negative than me of late. I think you're wrong if you are. But I love it. It was an exaggeration since it seems like Buehrle always get lit up on opening day for whatever reason.

Starting Rotation already set?
QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 20, 2011 -> 07:39 PM) Buehrle starting opening day against Cleveland = bad memories. I agree. What are the bets for this year? 4 IP, 6 ER?

MLB '11 The Show
Not sure where the thread I previously made for this went, but it's not on the 3 pages in SLAM, and I can't find an archive of it. Anyway..... Rumor has it the demo will be released this week. I can't remember if they update the store on Tuesdays or Thursdays, but either way, I'm pumped.

2010-2011 NHL thread
God damn we needed that! CC is just getting better and better every game. Nice to see us take a minor league goalie and turn him into a stud (so far). It's funny (and completely unimportant), I use Crawford a good amount in my NHL 11 franchise, and he was just tearing s*** up. I was thinking it was completely unrealistic, but now that he is dominating in real life, I am realizing that NHL 11 must be a prophecy. :0 Then again, CC has like a 0.68 GAA in 12-14 games right now in my franchise. lol.

Starting Rotation already set?
QUOTE (CSF @ Feb 20, 2011 -> 05:25 PM) Edwin Jackson in line to start 2nd game Found this part interesting: I know it may not be definite, but I thought Danks might actually get the nod this year. But Buehrle getting it works too. I figured that Buehrle would be #1 and Danks would be #3, and then Jackson would be #2 until Peavy comes back, and then he is #4. I think Floyd is our last (permanent) starter the whole season.

DIY: Installing a car stereo
Just got a 2004 Galant, and want to buy a stereo for it that has an AUX port for my MP3 player. Have considered paying Best Buy to install it, but I've read reviews about it, and people say there are almost always additional charges on top of the $50, and usually for extra parts they needed, a harness, any additional labor time, etc. I even read that one guy got charged $130 over the $50 they told him. Anyway, I am just wondering if anyone has this car, or a different Galant and can tell me how likely it is my dad and I will be able to figure this out on our own. We installed my stereo in my '95 Civic, but there were less that went into those cars, which means less things to screw up internally. I am buying my stereo from Crutchfield, so tools and harnesses are included, so hopefully I won't need to buy additional parts.

Chris Sale Will Start the Season in the Bullpen
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 19, 2011 -> 04:31 AM) But the White Sox entire plan was to have Sale be in a set role all year. They believe that dicking around with him and his regiment - going from starting pitcher to reliever, which is still happening in your scenario - is wrong. Ok fine, then shut him down when the rosters expand, or go with a 6-man rotation to keep the starters fresh for the playoffs (hopefully).

Chris Sale Will Start the Season in the Bullpen
QUOTE (Ranger @ Feb 19, 2011 -> 04:20 AM) They waited until spring to make that announcement because they wanted him to do his normal offseason preparation. It didn't hurt that they waited. They could have announced it prior and still told him to do his usual offseason prep. I mean, it's not like he is going to tell them no, and do his own thing.

Chris Sale Will Start the Season in the Bullpen
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Feb 19, 2011 -> 03:58 AM) If Sale was starting for us this year he would have to be shutdown at some point to limit his innings. If you're fine with that and have the likes of Humber and Harrell starting games in September, all power to you. Yeah, if you are assuming Jake Peavy does not come back in 2011, or doesn't finish the season. My plan (as well as others) is to see Sale starting for Peavy until he comes back, and then be sent to AAA to start for the remainder of the year until the rosters expand, and then Sale gets added to the bullpen for September. That really has nothing to do w/ Humber or Harrell.
