I just chalk it up as them being ignorant to it's connotations and it's effects on people. If his 2019 is anything like his 2018, his debut BETTER be in 2020. By midseason we could be looking at a top 20 prospect, similar to how Kopech is viewed. Save him until mid-April 2020 for service time. The only exception for me being if 2019 is somehow a competitive year and they want him to end his 2019 season by coming out of the Sox bullpen for a playoff push.

Kopech was dumb for not deleting these, but in my opinion, there is a distinction between saying a hateful word and making a hateful comment. His tweets were not hateful, he just used a couple of slurs that are frowned up. Step foot on to any High School, even college, and you'll hear everyone calling eachother gay and the N-word, white or not. It's because they are trying to be funny or cool, not because they are trying to hurt anyone or cause trouble.
