So it's 8 AM in Chicago right now. I have been up for an hour now, on 5 hours of sleep. My body forced me to get up in anticipation for the season........ It's like when it's Xmas morning, and you wake up 3 hours before everyone else, and then just hover over your parents bed waiting for them to wake up so you can start opening gifts. I will try and see if I can log another 3 hours of sleep, but it's going to be tough!

Are we finally over Maggs hate?
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to Princess Dye's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I never disliked Maggs. He was my favorite player growing up (other than the obvious Frank Thomas), and I still like him. -

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 08:02 PM) Going to Catholic college we got off Monday as part of Easter break - I was probably gonna skip class anyway. Hah, yep same here. We got Friday off too, though. -
I should get some Sox/Braves tix. so I can see Heyward and listen to the "30 ot 6" that Tim Kurkjian mentions every single time he talks about Heyward (which is about 3-4 times a week).

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 09:17 PM) Very happy to see this unpinned. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 09:25 PM) And of those, zero were last year, and 66 were in 2008. Rios has 76 in the last two years, including 34 last year. So yes, over the last couple of years, Rios has played out there more. If you want to say over the last couple years and literally mean the past 2 years, then Rios has played 102 games in CF and Jones has played 66. Jones also weighed a lot more last year and probably couldn't even physically play CF. And again, Rios has played a lot more RF over the past 2 years than CF (203 vs. 102), and Jones has only seen 5 games there in the past 12 years.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 04:21 PM) No. Why not? Clearly you don't value money very much.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 03:47 PM) First post from the iPad! Gotta say guys, this thing is pretty badass and really easy to type on! Can I have some money?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 10:57 AM) I am guessing Rios has played more CF over the last couple of years than Jones has. Actually no. Rios has only played 140 games in CF in his whole career, and 124 of those since 2007. Jones played CF over 1700 innings in his career, and 220 from 2007-2008. I am saying though, Jones has only played in RF 5 times over the past 10 years, while Rios has played RF 110 times in 2009 alone. I think having Rios play RF instead of Jones will be a lot easier transition for Rios to make, and since Jones is back in shape, I think he can play a pretty adequate CF.

"The Lost World Series celebration Tape"

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 12:03 AM) Well I don't agree with him here.. No Chuck.. I knew EXACTLY what I was doing that historic night on October 26th. Now.. about 2-3 hours later after they won it and the celebrating, is a total blur. I knew exactly where I was too. I was at Buffalo Wild Wings with my mom, dad, and aunt. They all looked at the TV off to the side which was 2 seconds faster than the big screen. Once I saw the ball bounce over the head of Jenks, I caught a glimpse on the other TV of Konerko running in with his hands up. My family turned around and stared at me to get my reaction to it. I was more happily in shock than anything else, but everyone in the place went crazy and people where pouring beers all over eachother. lol. Then when we drove home, there were fireworks being lit off in our neighboorhood. It was a cool scene. -
Kenny Williams is Calling for a Blackout for Opening Day

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 12:03 AM) looking more like a rain-out than a blackout Man that would be awful for me. If the game is not until Tuesday, I won't be able to see it because of A) Being at school B ) Being on the radio and C) Producing a tv show. Having no school on Monday was perfect timing, I don't even want to think about having to miss opening day. -
QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 2, 2010 -> 06:58 PM) Somewhat (very?) off topic, but has anyone seen Jones make any tough plays this spring? I haven't, but I've only seen a handful of games. Has he been tested enough to give him a good evaluation? No, I have not seen him have any real hard plays, but just going on his history, the fact he is back in shape, and the amount of time he has spent in CF, it appears he must be at least adequate out there, and Rios has recently been a RF, so it's not a big change for him. I am in favor of doing anything to keep Quentin out of the field, and I think that Jones can be at least as good as Quentin defensively.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 2, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) I thought somebody just said our outfield is great with Pierre, Jones, Quentin. No, Jones is our DH, but he has actually played a pretty good OF this spring. He could probably play CF without hurting us. I would personally like to see a Pierre-Jones-Rios OF with Quentin DHing.

No wonder why Brian Anderson could never hit...

QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 1, 2010 -> 06:51 PM) IIRC he was a reliever his first year in college at Arizona...i remember reading a report saying he was low 90s with his fastball back then I can't say I blame the guy...he's getting older now and if he cant make the royals as an OF, why not try something? Yes, in 2002. He was not very good though. -

QUOTE (kev211 @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 08:38 PM) 40 minutes? Thats a fast game for me. You lost big deal, is going 162-0 fun? I like being challenged in video games, and the show finally lets that happen. You really need to just move your hitting to rookie and play a bunch of games on that to get the strike zone down, and then when your pitch recognition is where it needs to be move to veteran and you won't have a problem. It really helps, and I don't sit there and take walks because I swing at good pitches no matter the count and rarely does 4 balls happen before a good pitch. I'm not hitting like a team .340 in my dynasty. My pitch recognition is fine. It's the fact that even when I DO make contact, I make outs. I think maybe I need to turn the "solid hits" up higher or something. I shouldn't have to play a 40 minute game (just hitting) and still not even score enough runs or get enough hits.
-
Just played a 40 min game (just hitting) of suck. I was winning 4-3 going into the 9th. Jenks strikes out Aram, allows a game-tying HR to Soriano, and then allows the walk-off HR to Bryd. I am glad I just wasted 40 mins watching 90 pitches go by without swinging only to end up losing. f*** this, I am putting the strike frequency on 100% and going back to swinging at 95% of the pitches.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 03:42 PM) I find pitching to be so enjoyable, why do you have the PC pitch for you? It's just my practice franchise until Knight releases his massive minor league rosters on Operation Sports. I know my pitching game is solid, so I just do hitting right now because I need to improve my hitting. I am in June in my prac. franchise, but I only pitch against the stop pitches in the league, so I play like once or twice a week.
