If they changed the rules that it has to be a pitcher with at least 180 innings, I wouldn't have a problem with that. Then they could make a bigger deal for Reliever of the Year. That would be a good thing to do. But I think in a year where no starter has an ERA under 3, and Britton is perfect in save opportunities for a contending team, with a 0.55 ERA, and an 809 ERA+, I would vote for him. He deserves it under the current rules, and even a lot of advanced stat people agree. It seems like some are trying to make a case for Sale because he's "our guy". Even if it were just for starting pitchers, I doubt Sale would crack the top 3 right now, but I'd like to look at it more closely Sunday night when it's all over.

As long as relievers are eligible, Britton has had a season that is special where the rest of the starters have been good, not great. I think Britton deserves it. Maybe Sale gets 2nd. Let's talk Sunday night.

I'm willing to be patient and see what happens between the last pitch Sunday and Monday afternoon. Hopefully Robin won't be back. And the stuff about a new manager not making a difference shouldn't even be a topic. Robin Ventura should have never got the job, so it's just the right thing to do to end his time here, and move on.
