  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 06:29 PM) Nothing he's saying would complicate anything. It's the equivelant of saying "sox open to trading!" For now. He seems to be chomping at the bit to say something tomorrow. It's going to be a long 11 days.
  2. I'm totally cool with this Barstool dude just shutting up until something is done and about to be announced. We've heard how things get out and messed up deals before.
  3. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 12:08 PM) The misery is that Q and Sale will be gone, to be honest. Sale's on a HoF track and Q's the type that could pitch for a long time and be an all-time Sox pitcher. It'd just suck. The thing is, you never know with pitchers when it comes to a crashing halt. Sale could stay healthy to his late 30's and go to the Hall, and that would be great. But there are no guarantees with that, and he certainly may sign elsewhere for 2020 and beyond. If he's not here to pitch for winning White Sox teams, they should listen on moving him at some point. For Quintana, sell high. Get a haul now.
  4. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 11:42 AM) They'll just never learn. We have BOTH starters pitching well with atleast one team in desperate need, and two more requiring a front line starter. If Quintana or Sale become injured after this year (which i understand is the risk with any player) and we ultimately get nothing as a result, it will be one of the greatest failures of the Hahn regime. Please, let's be smart and sell high for once. It's so obvious the Sox should tear it down over the next 6 months. I hope they realize that.
  5. To put the tag "untouchable" on Eaton is foolish. Nobody has a gun to the Sox head to trade anyone, but they should listen, and again, be thinking solely about 2019 and beyond.
  6. A 20-year-old with a 4 ERA in high-A....doesn't make sense to move him to Birmingham on the surface, but let's see what he does with 8 starts at AA.
  7. Hopefully whatever they do from this point forward is with 2019 and beyond in mind. Punt on 2016-2018 as far as winning because it's not happening either way. Get a pool of young talent, get high draft picks and smart international signings the next few years, and be in a position for sustained winning at least by 2020. If that means trading both Sale and Quintana right now, do it. It doesn't mean they have to trade them now, but Sale and Quintana are never pitching in the playoffs for the Sox. If/when they get a proposal that makes sense, move them and anyone else that isn't going to be part of the 2020 team.
  8. Please no Puig. Ever. Should be an interesting 12 days. The Sox could definitely do a lot if they choose.
  9. Bring up Burdi's 10+ ERA immediately.
  10. Sox went 17-16 on the road vs the AL East and West this season. Would have taken it before the season started. Weird, bad team.
  11. QUOTE (Scoots @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 07:42 AM) A nice 10 game win streak would put the team right in the thick of it...that would be so nice. You know what would come after nine more wins in a row? A loss. That would bring the Sox to 55-48, with 59 games left, mostly against teams they can't beat. Root for whatever you want because it doesn't matter, but this season is done.
  12. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 06:58 AM) Garry Marshall, 81 I saw him on TV recently and knew he was at the end. Sad. If you have Netflix, watch the Albert Brooks movie, Lost in America. He had a great scene in that movie.
  13. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 01:13 AM) Oh joy. We're back to .500. Not yet. 46-47. Felix comes off the DL today.
  14. I'm big on pitchers staying in when it's 1-0. At 3-0, Robertson should have got the save. It's his fault alone this time.
  15. The Win stat makes this bad for Sale, but losses are good right before the deadline. f***ing sell, idiots.
  16. Danish 5 innings, 1 run, 0 walks 3 k's against a team that's 60-35. Not bad.
  17. Monday - win 6-2 Tuesday - lose 4-3 Wednesday - lose 3-1
  18. Single for Engel. Homer for Sanchez.
  19. Derosa predicted before the season that the Astros are going to go out and get a pitcher- he predicted Sale or Gray back then. That's all. Nothing to see here.
  20. I hope they know they're out of it this season, so either they're trading to compete in 2017, or starting a full blown rebuild. Obviously we know the more likely option for a Reinsdorf team.
  21. The trade deadline is Monday, August 1st, at 3pm Chicago time.
  22. Blue Jays hold the second wildcard, on pace for 89 wins. Remaining records for 88 wins: Cle 34-37 Tex 33-36 Bal 35-37 ---------- Bos 37-35 Tor 36-32 Hou 38-32 Det 40-30 ---------- Maybe you give the Tigers an outside shot, but then you have the pretenders: KC 42-29 Sea 42-28 Sox 43-28 NY 43-28
  23. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 09:36 AM) Next two weeks: Bos 44-37 -- 3 vs Tex, 3 vs TB, 3 at NY Det 44-38 -- 3 at Cle, 4 at Tor, 3 vs KC Tor 45-39 -- 3 vs KC, 4 vs Det, 3 at Oak KC 43-38 -- 3 at Tor, 4 vs Sea, 3 at Det Hou 43-39 -- 3 vs Sea, 4 vs Oak, 3 at Sea Sea 43-39 -- 3 at Hou, 4 at KC, 3 vs Hou Sox 42-40 -- 3 vs NY, 3 vs Atl, 3 at LAA A lot of head-to-head where teams can go 5-5, while the Sox can go 7-2. Could look good in a couple weeks if the Sox handle their business. Astros and Blue Jays won again today. A review of the last two weeks: Red Sox 7-2 Astros 7-3 Blue Jays 7-3 Tigers 4-6 White Sox 3-6 Royals 3-7 Mariners 3-7 Good teams win. Bad teams lose. Profound, I know.
  24. Sale vs Leblanc Quintana vs Miley Gonzalez vs Hernandez There will be some runs. Nobody will get swept.
