  1. Jairo Asencio was supposedly signed by the Sox too, and now he's going to Korea.
  2. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 03:35 PM) Thanks Rock, good to hear. Love me some Tank, especially as a part of the Sox Core. I'm really excited for this teams future, amazing what a few months of Rick Hahn magic does. And he's probably not done: From Merkin, quoting The Coop: White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper not talking about closer on Dec. 17. One reason: "I don't think Rick is done." But what does he think about it today?
  3. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 03:18 PM) With the recent additions of Eaton and Davidson, does the change our outlook on the draft? Go after best pitcher available? If there's an obvious guy to take at 3, they should take that player no matter what position. Quite frankly, I trust the White Sox when it comes to pitching. So I hope it ends up being an #1 starter talent that will be behind Sale in 2016.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 03:08 PM) Also worth throwing out there for those who don't think Rick Hahn is his own man... What part of this last six months has seemed like Kenny Williams at all? That thought crossed my mind the last couple hours. This is Hahn's team.
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 02:50 PM) This trade has the 100 percent Soxtalk seal of approval. Damn it, Davidson is going to suck. Even if Davidson turns into Morel, it's still a good move today. He's a top 100 prospect with good power at a corner position traded for a good, but not great closer on a team that just lost 99 games. The trade is good today. Now it's up to Davidson to play.
  6. Gillaspie should go to the Marlins and be a guy that fills in at 1B and 3B, and get a decent amount of playing time.
  7. I really hope they find a spot for Semien in the middle of the infield. Turn Alexei/De Aza or Beckham/Viciedo into a catcher, plus whatever.
  8. QUOTE (dayan024 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 01:27 PM) Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 4m As the roster is constructed now, I wouldn't say Davidson is a lock for Opening Day. But certainly a huge part of their future. Things Scott Merkin says not to offend anyone.
  9. Hector Santiago, Addison Reed, and Brandon Jacobs for Adam Eaton and Matt Davidson...a starting CF/leadoff man and a power hitting 3B....both under team control for 5 years. Great job by Hahn.
  10. Digging it. Hahn has a plan, and he's sticking with it.
  11. 1 yr/ 4 mil Can earn 4.5 mil more from incentives.
  12. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 15, 2013 -> 05:04 PM) And, of course, if he hasn't quite made it as a Double-A player at age 21, he still won't be a bust. First things first. He needs to play well enough in 2014 to be in Birmingham in 2015. If he's not, the point is moot. Hopefully the Sox have another Adam E developing over the next few years. Adam Engel- http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/p...id=engel-000ada Adam Eaton was taken 571st. Adam Engel was taken 573rd. I'm just as interested to see what Engel can do in 2014.
  13. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 15, 2013 -> 03:15 PM) Was he the one who complained about his twitter? If I remember correctly, Hawkins called out a local reporter for pointing out a fact about Hawkins' game. He took at as a rip, and tweeted that he was blocking him. The way I look at it, Hawkins was terrible in 2013 at age 19. Hopefully he'll improve going back to Winston-Salem at age 20 with good enough numbers to advance him to Birmingham in 2015. Then it's just a matter if he's good enough. If he's not, oh well. Move on to the next guy.
  14. At 2:36, that's how you act on a walk off hit.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35O4Po4p0tA The Fisk debut game in 1981 was added today too.
  15. Nieto linked to Biogenesis. Already served suspension. http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/101...nesis-documents?
  16. Tigers sign Joba Chamberlain.
  17. Lobaton would be a safe pickup. Hopefully that's still in play.
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 10:11 AM) Today could get exciting. Probably not. It's a mad dash to the airport after the Rule 5. Sure they could do something, but it's more likely to happen after today.
  19. Eaton was on the Score this morning. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2013/12/12/eat...rtbag-nickname/ If Eaton leads off 150 games for the next five years, people will like this guy.
  20. Even if Nieto doesn't make the team, maybe they can work out a deal to keep him in the system. That happens once in a while. But hopefully the Sox will acquire a major league catcher soon (before February 15).
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 08:29 AM) Bruce Levine ‏@MLBBruceLevine 56s Wh Sox take second catcher , Omar Narbaze from Tampa . Narvaez. Close enough, Bruce. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/p...id=narvae001---
  22. Sox took Evan Crawford. AAA phase. LHP. Some major league time with Blue Jays.
  23. Aggressive. Worth a look in spring training.
  24. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 12:23 PM) Rock kind of hinted that the Sox were interested, too. My question is, if they do sign him, who is going to depart? Somebody would want Gillaspie. Maybe an NL team looking for a backup 1B/3B, pinch hitter.
  25. It's weird how Merkin and Hayes went out of their way yesterday to say the Sox aren't in on Uribe, but people are still reporting that the Sox and Dodgers are waiting on him to decide.
