  1. Frank is on CSN at 5:30. Kinda wish he would let his numbers do the talking over the next couple months before the vote.
  2. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Nov 21, 2013 -> 04:04 PM) If they pick up Perez, they would conceivably then need to DFA Flowers opening up another spot. Or they could non-tender him coming up on December 2. Or other players.
  3. It must be fun for Dave Dombrowski to have an owner that pretty much lets him do anything.
  4. Honestly, this deal doesn't impact the White Sox. Until the Sox turn over two-thirds of the lineup, and give a couple other guys some seasons of experience, they're an under .500 team.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 07:40 PM) I hope Fielder vetoes it...if the Tigers aren't sending money to Texas, this is a huge coup for them He already waived his no trade. The league has to approve it for money trading hands.
  6. https://twitter.com/JonHeymanCBS/status/403330963188367360 um, wow?
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 05:21 PM) Maybe, but if Konerko comes back, they probably need someone who can play the infield and the outfield. This could be sprimg training competition for Leury Garcia. Or maybe L Garcia gets traded.
  8. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 02:09 PM) Good see Thompson and Sanchez. Wonder if Jacobs and Wilkins get added? The beat writers are all tweeting about Sanchez, Thompson, and Elmore, so that's probably it for additions today.
  9. https://twitter.com/CST_soxvan/status/403252792615112704 Anybody know anything about Elmore?
  10. https://twitter.com/BenBadler/status/403245225176358912 Carlos Sanchez being added. Not sure if this means he's the only one.

    Ryan Braun

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 12:27 PM) He's a douchebag that handled a stressful situation terribly. Whatever. Doesn't change that fact that his lowest OPS+ ever was 131. If the Brew Crew throw in a bunch of cash and the teams stash it for the end of the deal he is going to make someone very happy. You don't get superstars at a discount for no reason and yes I understand he'll probably have a dip in production. There's a line I don't want the Sox to cross. I didn't like when they got Canseco and Manny. I don't want Braun no matter what. And yes, I'm sure we've all rooted for Sox players that juiced over the years, but I still wouldn't want the Sox to acquire players that have dirty records--especially how Braun's situation developed.

    Ryan Braun

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 12:17 PM) I understand where you're coming from as a fan, but I'm continually shocked at how often people on this site value the personal likability of players over winning. I'm not judging you for it, just saying it surprises me. When it's "Konerko deserves to go out on his own terms" or "Santiago is such a great guy", I kinda eye roll those type of things. With Braun, he's a despicable human being. The Brewers gave him his money. They can keep him.
  13. If you care about such things, MLBTR is updating all teams here as they come in... http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/11/play...man-roster.html

    Ryan Braun

Hell no. Brewers signed him. They can keep him.
  15. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 07:08 PM) Rumors! I must have them. Then they won't happen.
  16. QUOTE (Baron @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 06:56 PM) I have Hector going for sure....maybe De Aza and Alexei/Beckham I'll go Santiago, Beckham, and Viciedo.
  17. Give me three guys currently on the 40-man, that played for the Sox this year, that will be on a different roster in 23 days.
  18. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/11/...retire-or-play/ I don't believe Konerko is still thinking about playing in 2014. He wants to play in 2014. It's just a matter of the White Sox finding out if they can trade Dunn in the next month. So they'll lie until then and say he's still thinking about it.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 16, 2013 -> 09:21 AM) When you say the Sox have no room, ask yourself whose spot is he taking. Point is, if they're bringing back Konerko only because his name is Paul Konerko, that's no way to run a team. But from a selfish standpoint, if they find a way to move Dunn out of town and keep PK as a part time player, then deal. If Abreu, Dunn, and Konerko are all on the team, it's really dumb.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 16, 2013 -> 08:38 AM) Agree. Agree. I don't see why anyone would be opposed to the White Sox spending money to be average if they are still committed to their farm system. But White Sox fans find something wrong with everything. There has been several times the White Sox were expected to be average or worse and had fun seasons. The Sox don't have room for a 38-year-old who had a bad season for a 99-loss team. It's ridiculous this has dragged on this long. But if they can move Dunn and still have Konerko as a part time player, I'll take it just so I don't have to watch Dunn anymore. Hawk? He's terrible, and getting worse. I hope he gets in the Hall so maybe he'll retire. As far as getting to mediocre---we've seen how well that's worked over the last 5-6 years. No direct plan...just get some guys with track records and hope it all clicks...then it doesn't. The good news is I think Hahn is a pretty smart guy, and he'll be able to play both sides of a fielding a mediocre team for 2014 without sacrificing a rebuild for 2015 and 2016.
  21. To sum up-- Konerko has earned the right to come back Hawk deserves to be in the Hall of Fame They'll spend money to reach a level of mediocrity because he has to watch the games.
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 16, 2013 -> 08:30 AM) When did Bruce Levine jump from Espn to the score? Maybe 5-6 weeks ago. I think ESPN didn't want to renew his contract.
  23. QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Nov 15, 2013 -> 11:46 AM) Why? Is he out of options? He doesnt have enough service time to be considered a financial liability (yet). Just thinking Liddi will most likely play 3B in Charlotte. I dunno, we'll find out December 2.
  24. Not that it means a whole lot, but it probably cements Brent Morel getting non-tendered in a couple weeks.
