Saltalamacchia
QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 11, 2013 -> 10:07 AM) I think the team and the team-related press benefits by the Sox having interest in free agents. We may or may not try to sign Salty, but either way you want articles like this so that fans are constantly checking for more news and thinking about the White Sox during free agency. Pretty much. November is a good month to just ignore the rumors because it's all posturing and propaganda before the Winter Meetings. 4 weeks until then.

Saltalamacchia
If Merkin or Hayes are saying it, then there's probably something there. I'm not a huge Salty fan, but the Sox really have nothing at catcher. If they can get him for 3 years, and have a healthier Flowers back him up, the Sox would be in a better place.

With Abreu Signing; Konerko Not Out
Sox traded Mike Cameron for Konerko 15 years ago today. How many players get traded to a team and end up with that team for 15+ years? It's crazy underrated.

2013-14 off season player movement thread
Not player movement, but team movement... The Braves are moving out of Turner Field after the 2016 season, and moving into a new park in 2017. Cobb County. https://twitter.com/Braves/status/399904982352134144

With Abreu Signing; Konerko Not Out
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 9, 2013 -> 07:41 AM) I think a Konerko decision was made the day we signed Abreu. Dunn is the better player right now (plus left-handed) and there is simply no room for Paulie on a 4 man bench. And you know Robin would give Konerko a decent amount of playing time at the expense of Abreu. In all honestly, bringing him back doesn't make any sense and I'm sure Hahn agrees. Rongey and Garfien were talking about this on WSW a little while ago. Maybe they hold off announcing anything until the winter meetings are over in December when they can see if there is any trade market for Dunn. If they got rid of Dunn, but still had Konerko as a part-time player, I would like that because it means Dunn is gone. But more realistically, Konerko should hang them up and Dunn should give it one last season in Chicago.

With Abreu Signing; Konerko Not Out
Beckham gets married today, so I would assume Konerko, Ventura, and Hahn are in the same place to talk. I would bet a Konerko decision is coming soon. GM meetings this week as well.

Arizona Fall League thread
Game winning homer for Mitchell today. 2-5, .353 Jacobs, 2-5, double Semien, 1-4, bb Bassitt k'd 2 Saw Bassitt for the first time in the All Star Game over the weekend. Doesn't look like anything special, but if he's a strike thrower he could be a swing guy.

Old Sox Games on Youtube
Looks like some new games have been added. This one from June, 1981. They went on strike the next day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShnnIGzzFFQ Caray/Piersall vs Jerry/Eddie. That was doomed from the start.

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 28, 2013 -> 05:02 PM) I'm actually enjoying Masters of Sex more than Homeland right now. And not just because of the sex. Well, partly because of the sex. It's ok. I'm a new fan of Rose McIver.

Sox hire Todd Steverson as their new hitting coach
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 31, 2013 -> 11:07 AM) Scot Gregor @scotgregor 2m Hahn on new White Sox hitting coach Todd Steverson: "Impressed with his clear and simple swing mechanics. He was our unanimous choice." Unanimous choice after Kenny Williams told them that's who they're hiring.

Sox hire Todd Steverson as their new hitting coach
Blue Jays hire Kevin Seitzer. We'll see what the results are there. Would be interesting if Beckham ends up in Toronto.

Congratulations to Jake Peavy & Matt Thornton
I'm happier for Juan Nieves than Peavy. Peavy is just a guy that was on the Sox for parts of 5 seasons. Injured a lot. No playoff teams.

Blue Jays reportedly interested in Gordon Beckham
Lawrie-Ramirez-Semien-Abreu That's an infield I can get on board with for 2014.

Sox Sign Jose Abreu - 6/$68 million
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 11:27 AM) Abreu thanks the Sox for letting him wear #79. His mom picked it out for him. He better not be turning 35 in January.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Boston Red Sox
Tough call at the end, but the Red Sox deserved to lose having 2nd and 3rd, one out. Should have walked Jay to get to Kozma.

It's been 8 years...
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 26, 2013 -> 01:25 PM) That quiz took me like 30 seconds. All those names are engraved in my mind forever. Me too. I can name the other 13 players from the regular season pretty easily too.
