  5. QUOTE (scs787 @ Oct 28, 2013 -> 07:05 PM) My earlier 14 post was a joke...If he can't keep the 79 I'm gonna say 16 (7+9=16). Ted Lyons would like to speak with you.
  6. Tough call at the end, but the Red Sox deserved to lose having 2nd and 3rd, one out. Should have walked Jay to get to Kozma.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 26, 2013 -> 01:25 PM) That quiz took me like 30 seconds. All those names are engraved in my mind forever. Me too. I can name the other 13 players from the regular season pretty easily too.
  8. 8 years later, can you name the postseason roster on the 2005 team? http://www.sporcle.com/games/stustustudio/whitesox2005
  9. Not sure what qualifications this site brings, but they have Turner dropping to 12. http://www.mymlbdraft.com/MLB-Mock-Draft
  10. When a World Series has started 1-1... 16 of the last 18 times, the winner of Game 3 won the World Series.
  11. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/cws/white-...p;vkey=news_cws Todd Steverson is the new hitting coach. Yes, that Todd Steverson.
  12. Having surgery to reposition a nerve in his elbow. Had same procedure done while at IU.
  13. As much as I'm an AL guy, I just can't root for the Red Sox. I hope the Cardinals sweep the Red Sox just to get it over with as fast as possible.
  14. https://twitter.com/toppscards/status/39235...1931009/photo/1 ooooooooh...k Probably won't ever be in that uniform.
  15. I'm rooting for Wacha and Beltran, but I'm not rooting for the Cardinals or Red Sox- if that makes sense. Been a tough postseason to find teams to like. Also, when this is over, the White Sox will be 1 of 6 teams to win a World Series in the last 10 years. With more and more distance from 2005, it just shows how hard it is to win a World Series. And if you win a World Series in one of the two years you make the postseason--we're really, really fortunate to have that happen. And the Giants are even luckier. Red Sox in 7.
  16. QUOTE (ptatc @ Oct 20, 2013 -> 08:02 AM) Guys like John Olerud and Dave winfield didn't even go to the minors, if my old mind is still working. Correct. Add Bob Horner, Pete Incaviglia, and Jim Abbott.
  17. It's fluff, but I'll take it: http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox-talk/s...ure-hitter-cuba
  18. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 19, 2013 -> 10:24 AM) That would be horrible for us. Agreed. To me, every move the Sox make should be for Opening Day, 2015. Getting Phillips now is just the wrong move. If he's starting his career decline now, let him do that with a different team in 2014. Could you imagine if the Sox got him, he had an even worse offensive season in 2014, and the Sox are still on the hook for 3 yrs/39 mil in 2015-2017? Nah.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 03:14 PM) I wonder if Konerko would be willing to take an "Organizational hitting coach" job next year. Not the team hitting coach but one overseeing the full system. When Konerko is done playing, the only time we're going to see him for at least two years is the weekend they retire his number. No way he doesn't get away from the game for a while.
  20. Purcey outrighted to AAA. 40-man at 36.
  21. Beckham wedding- November 9 Konerko decision--before or after?
  22. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 01:10 PM) I would go the opposite, but definitely understand your opinion. I like Turner. He is a legit SS with excellent athleticism. Because he is such a good fielder with top-line speed, he at worst is a solid starting SS in the major leagues. If he hits like he has shown when healthy, he is a 6-8 WAR player annually -- maybe more. My main reason with him over Gatewood is that you just can't miss having a pick so high. Gatewood might have 40 HR power, but he is far more likely to bust than Turner. Plus, there are many questions about his future position. The one negative to Turner is that he sounds like Beckham (not skillset) but in that he is a guarantee to be a MLB starter for years to come and well Beckham has definitely been a bust. That's mostly my concern. I'm just glad the Sox are at 3, and not 9 or 10, or 16. They're going to get who they want after Rodon and the other guy. And hopefully in 7.5 months, it will be clear to them who they should draft.
  23. QUOTE (Dunt @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 12:50 PM) I know there is still a long way to go here, but if you drafted today, would you take Turner or Gatewood? I'm no expert or anything, but if it's only a choice between those two, I'd go Gatewood. More power, and upside. Could be a 3B long term.
