Hahn says trade talks have heated up.
QUOTE (Baron @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 06:56 PM) I have Hector going for sure....maybe De Aza and Alexei/Beckham I'll go Santiago, Beckham, and Viciedo.

Hahn says trade talks have heated up.
Give me three guys currently on the 40-man, that played for the Sox this year, that will be on a different roster in 23 days.

With Abreu Signing; Konerko Not Out
http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/11/...retire-or-play/ I don't believe Konerko is still thinking about playing in 2014. He wants to play in 2014. It's just a matter of the White Sox finding out if they can trade Dunn in the next month. So they'll lie until then and say he's still thinking about it.

Reinsdorf on Score....there's still money in the budget
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 16, 2013 -> 09:21 AM) When you say the Sox have no room, ask yourself whose spot is he taking. Point is, if they're bringing back Konerko only because his name is Paul Konerko, that's no way to run a team. But from a selfish standpoint, if they find a way to move Dunn out of town and keep PK as a part time player, then deal. If Abreu, Dunn, and Konerko are all on the team, it's really dumb.

Reinsdorf on Score....there's still money in the budget
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 16, 2013 -> 08:38 AM) Agree. Agree. I don't see why anyone would be opposed to the White Sox spending money to be average if they are still committed to their farm system. But White Sox fans find something wrong with everything. There has been several times the White Sox were expected to be average or worse and had fun seasons. The Sox don't have room for a 38-year-old who had a bad season for a 99-loss team. It's ridiculous this has dragged on this long. But if they can move Dunn and still have Konerko as a part time player, I'll take it just so I don't have to watch Dunn anymore. Hawk? He's terrible, and getting worse. I hope he gets in the Hall so maybe he'll retire. As far as getting to mediocre---we've seen how well that's worked over the last 5-6 years. No direct plan...just get some guys with track records and hope it all clicks...then it doesn't. The good news is I think Hahn is a pretty smart guy, and he'll be able to play both sides of a fielding a mediocre team for 2014 without sacrificing a rebuild for 2015 and 2016.

Reinsdorf on Score....there's still money in the budget
To sum up-- Konerko has earned the right to come back Hawk deserves to be in the Hall of Fame They'll spend money to reach a level of mediocrity because he has to watch the games.

Reinsdorf on Score....there's still money in the budget
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 16, 2013 -> 08:30 AM) When did Bruce Levine jump from Espn to the score? Maybe 5-6 weeks ago. I think ESPN didn't want to renew his contract.

White Sox Sign Alex Liddi
QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Nov 15, 2013 -> 11:46 AM) Why? Is he out of options? He doesnt have enough service time to be considered a financial liability (yet). Just thinking Liddi will most likely play 3B in Charlotte. I dunno, we'll find out December 2.

White Sox Sign Alex Liddi
Not that it means a whole lot, but it probably cements Brent Morel getting non-tendered in a couple weeks.

Your Realistic 2014 Lineup
QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 11:37 AM) Definite fit, not sure how he wouldn't be? 2 years left until free agency, Boras client, for a non-playoff team in the first year most likely. If the Sox are trading pieces, then it would be better to get players that are controllable for many years as they build toward being a winning team.

Your Realistic 2014 Lineup
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 11:16 AM) Weiters has become available per Rosenthal. Has 2 years left and his agent is Boras? Do/Should Sox go after him? Good player, but not a fit for the Sox where they are right now.

With Abreu Signing; Konerko Not Out
All of this Konerko stuff is really bringing it home how frustrating it is to be a Sox fan right now. The correct move is for Konerko to say goodbye on his own. If he wants to find another team that will give a part time job, more power to him. But he can't come back unless they find a way to trade Dunn, and also keep Konerko as a part time player.

2014 AL Central catch-all thread
Francona won AL Manager of the Year. He should thank the White Sox.

Your Realistic 2014 Lineup
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 01:04 PM) There is zero chance Beckham is gone. Viciedo I'd be at about a 20% chance. There's zero chance that there is zero chance Beckham is staying or going. I'd just like to see a statement trade that the team is changing. If they return with DeAza, Ramirez, Viciedo, Beckham, Kepp/Gillaspie, Dunn...that's a lot of a bad offense returning.
-
Your Realistic 2014 Lineup
Yeah, Viciedo isn't going to 3B. Maybe it's wishful thinking, but a month from today, the Winter Meetings conclude. I'm guessing Viciedo and Beckham have new teams.

Atlanta Braves to leave Turner Field
Sox lease runs through 2029. At that point, they will have been at that park for 39 seasons. Then, who knows, the Havana White Sox?

Offseason Top Prospects lists
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 08:56 AM) I'll point this out again... he can and does hit breaking pitches. His problem is timing and recognition. When he guesses breaker, he hits them very hard. I've seen this in person, and other times on video. He isn't a dead-red guy. IN fact he struggles with big heat too. Ok. I've just seen those clips where he's flailing at the hard breakers down and away. Point is, he's not a hitter yet, and considering him #2 seems a stretch. But we'll see where he is a year from now. If it's the same season, he won't be on anybody's list.

Offseason Top Prospects lists
Lists are lists, but #2 for Hawkins is pretty generous. He turns 20 today, btw. Hopefully Hawkins goes back to Winston-Salem with a clean slate and he learns how to hit breaking pitches.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 11, 2013 -> 10:15 AM) I think Sox will bring AJ back. I'd be shocked. I'm thinking he'll go to the Yankees or Phillies.
