Keppinger to Sox 3 yr deal
QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 12:49 PM) The good news is that if the Sox non-tender Beckham in the next few seasons, Keppinger can slide over to 2b. I agree with the other posts saying Sox should sign a lefthanded hitting 3B to platoon. Mark Teahen is available. Teahen signed with the Dbacks. Pretty good deal for the Sox. Gives them flexibility around the infield.

So what type of 3rd baseman do we need?
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 30, 2012 -> 11:21 AM) That tweet links to a Mark Gonzales Tribune article that has this paragraph: I deleted that as soon as I saw it's not Hannahan's own twitter account.

2013 HOF ballot out, includes Sosa, Clemens, Bonds
They should acknowledge the 90's/early 00's were the wild west. The game itself was juiced. I'd put in guys like Clemens and Bonds, but if I felt like juicing got a player to big numbers like Sheffield, Sosa, and McGwire I wouldn't vote for them. It's a mess.

2012-2013 Sox off season Catch-All thread
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 21, 2012 -> 03:52 PM) "The White Sox signed catcher Bryan Anderson and left-hander David Purcey to minor league deals, Eddy reports (on Twitter)." That only took 11 days to get confirmed.

Sox re-sign DeWayne Wise
QUOTE (SpainSOXfan09 @ Nov 21, 2012 -> 01:04 PM) Could anyone stomach an outfield of Tank in LF, Wise in CF, and DeAza in RF if we can manage to swing a trade for Rios by selling high and getting something of value back? Even if we eat some of Rios' salary? I want to say a 3rd baseman but I can't think of any scenario where we get a high upside 3rd baseman unless we pry loose a prospect from some team who is doing well in AAA and is MLB ready or a year away. No, I could not stomach that outfield. I think Rios stays. My prediction- Sox move Viciedo in a trade for a 3B, and Wise and Tekotte/Danks hold down LF until Jared Mitchell is ready. The Sox are probably ready to see what Mitchell can do in Chicago. I know a lot of people like Viciedo, but with Mitchell, Thompson, Walker, and Hawkins in the system, I think Viciedo is movable.

Sox re-sign DeWayne Wise
I think Wise is decent insurance for De Aza if he gets hurt, which is often. Could be wrong here, but I don't think Jordan Danks is on the White Sox in a couple weeks.

Sox expected to add 4 to 40 man roster
Shirek is 27. Seems like a weird last minute decision since they already announced the other four first. Maybe a team wants him, but they don't want to chance it in the Rule 5, so the Sox protected him to trade him.

AFL and Instructional League thread
AFL Championship-- Peoria beat Salt River 4-3 . Brian Goodwin called out for leaving 3rd too early on a tag up, otherwise it would have been 4-4. Sanchez had a couple hits, stolen base, and a couple runs. Good base running, going 1st to 3rd on a single to LF. Santos Rodriguez looked pretty good. Struck out Mike Zunino, who had 3 hits. Billy Hamilton crashed into the wall and hurt his back, but he looked ok after the game ended. Smiling at least. Can't be too serious.

AL MVP Discussion
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 01:00 PM) A lot of anti Tiger bias here. Triple Crown winner, played in every game but one, I give it to Cabrera because of the Triple Crown. That is so tough to do these days. Just for the record, my Trout pick has nothing to do with "anti-Tiger" bias. Not one bit.

First big move of the offseason prediction contest
After hearing the Royals are poised for a big trade, I'm ready for the Sox to make a move. First semi-big move...I think Beckham gets traded. The Sox will sign a decent replacement to hold down the fort until they think Sanchez is ready. But I think Sanchez is close enough that they'll move Beckham sooner or later.
-
AL MVP Discussion
I think Trout deserves it, but Cabrera will win it and it won't be that close. The Triple Crown will clinch it for too many voters, and I think to an extent, a lot of voters will rationalize it by thinking, "Trout is so good that he'll probably win it some other year where he's played a full season on a playoff team in a year where there wasn't a Triple Crown." If there are 28 voters, I'm predicting 18-10 in favor of Cabrera.

Salt River clinched their spot in the championship game. MLB Network--Saturday at 2 central I would assume Sanchez will start. Not sure about Wilkins or Thompson. And Rienzo left, as was mentioned.

Not shocked at all about Torii Hunter going to Detroit. You could tell that's where he wanted to go, and he's basically a perfect fit for them.

Marlins trade Buehrle, Josh Johnson, Reyes plus others to Blue Jays
QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 09:06 AM) I'm gunna throw out a crazy trade idea, and it'll prolly not happen. Floyd for Buehrle. Of course it won't happen because why would the Sox want 3 lefties in the rotation. Buehrle and Floyd do the same thing...take the ball, provide innings, and at the end of the season, your team will go about .500 when they start. Floyd, being righty at 9.5 mil, is a much better value than Buehrle, who has 3 years/48 mil left on his contract. The more I let this trade sink in, the more I think the Marlins undid their stupidity from last offseason, and the Blue Jays are taking a huge risk with these guys. It's very possible this trade will end up being lose/lose.

Marlins trade Buehrle, Josh Johnson, Reyes plus others to Blue Jays
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 06:43 PM) They bet the ranch on Ozzie and some free agents and it bombed. They royally f***ed the Marlins fanbase. On the flip side, its ENTIRELY feasible that Mark could be headed back to us if we wanted him. As much as I like Buehrle as a person, he's still overpaid for what he does. Truthfully, Gavin Floyd is a better value for 2013.

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 06:33 PM) this trade is...wow. what a joke, selig should not allow this to happen I agree. Loria is a joke, and this is the kind of trade that a commissioner could veto, and nobody would fault Selig for doing it.
