  1. Swisher might be a hero here...ugh. edit: Arod...same thing
  2. I really wanted Yankees/Rangers on Friday too.
  3. I'm not trying to be a bleeding heart, but why not just give the guy a couple games to get a hit? As soon as he gets a knock, he's out of there.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 08:56 PM) It was like that BS in 2005 when Shapiro won Executive of the Year over KW. How can you pick the 2nd place team there that didn't even make the playoffs and collapsed the final week? Yeah, that was bad. I'm sure by the time the World Series started, a lot of those votes would have changed to Kenny. But whatever. He's still rich for 2 playoff teams in 12 years.
  5. They should just call off the vote, and let Showalter and Melvin split it. How can you pick one over the other?
  6. 3-1 Sawks. Could be tied going into tomorrow.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 08:36 PM) With anything somewhat resembling offensive support and Peavy would have 16+ wins this year. 3 runs in 8 innings is a QS last I checked. An ERA under 3.40 on the season is pretty damn good in the AL. The guy hasn't pitched a full season in who knows how many years and here he is in October throwing another QS. He had a good year. 23 quality starts out of 32. He made all of his starts, and that will get him a nice contract.
  8. Peavy: I wanna go out there for the boys and finish this one off. You suck.
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 08:11 PM) Thanks for the last two weeks, I mean days, Tank. Thanks for those two weeks in May.
  10. I was hoping to see Konerko get a hit in first AB tonight, and then be pulled from the game with a .300 average.
  11. I don't think there's a wrong answer. It's hard to ignore Trout's overall game, but it's also hard to ignore a Triple Crown winner. And I don't want to hear how those stats don't matter. Maybe to scouts, RBI totals don't matter. But in the major leagues, those guys are paid to drive in runs. They matter. I'd go Trout because defense matters, and his offensive skills were incredible.
  12. Based on what I think they should do with the rest of the roster for 2013, I think they should keep him. They have nothing better, and he's still cheap. If Carlos Sanchez has a good year in Charlotte and profiles more as a 2B, then they can bounce Beckham then.
  13. This team is in need of a new coat of paint. Short of changing the uniforms, they are in need of a new approach, a new attitude, and some athletic players with some balls. You can't just bash homers against bad to mediocre starters and win playoff spots. You have to occasionally beat good pitchers by being athletic and scrap a few runs. I hope Rick Hahn changes some things.
  14. Thursday is open for tie-breakers. The Wild Card games are on TBS on Friday. 5 and 8:30, I believe. That may have to change if both games are in the east time zone. Yep, a ton of seeding possibilities still up in the. It's almost like teams don't want to be #1, and start a 5-game series on the road.
  15. A's are in. Rays and Angels go home.
  16. When you look at Fielder and Cabrera's numbers, and the fact that the tigers have a decent bullpen and led the league in quality starts, how many games did they lose because of defense? 8? 10? They're a really good team that plays really bad defense.
  17. Hopefully Cabrera and Fielder sit on Valverde in the dog pile.
  18. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 09:56 PM) Didn't the Royals and Cardinals win the WS with less? Yes, but that was before they made two teams play a one-game playoff.
  19. Is it wrong the Tigers will be the first AL team to clinch a division--and it's with 87 wins, while six other teams may end up with 90+ wins?
