Viewership
the other teams signed a five year extension in 2019 which also increased each stake holder's share of the network to 25% when the cubs were bought out. They opted out of the network at the end of their contract in 2024. Comcast had tried to negotiate an extension more than once, with the last offer to carry the bulls and hawks in 24-25, which would have delayed CHSN's launch. the wirtz and reinsdorf families said no.

Free Tim Elko (Back in Jail)
The service time manipulation is over. why keep him down there when you won't lose a year of control?!

CHSN to be available on antenna in Chicago
NBC, which is OWNED by comcast, is on "free tv". same, as abc, cbs, wgn, and pbs. Comcast charges me $25 a month to watch those stations on my xfinity box.

Passan address current challenges with TB/A's stadium situations, cites Sox and Royals predicaments
that's assuming they renew the lease as-is. And even then, the agency has those costs budgeted. Nor are you factoring in the naming rights $ goes to the state. Any possible extension would almost have a naming rights change, as Rate's deal ends in 2030.

The soldier field/sox park refinanced bonds expire in 2023. After that the state would “make money” with any lease extension, even at the current terms.

In an alternate universe, the bulls owned by wirtz/hunt/steinbrenner don't win 6 championships over 8 years.

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
Let’s not forget Jerry’s kids are still buying shares of the club from other investors.

I doubt twins fans are happy to hear that Joe wants to be involved after the sale.

MLB continues its "regionalization"
The ratings in Japan were massive. And mlb is positioning global rights media deals as it expands viewership internationally. MLB having the largest inventory of live games is a blessing and a curse. You can’t compare it to them other leagues.

19 Bally RSN's going bankrupt, 14 MLB teams potentially affected
I keep thinking that the feds were wrong to force Disney to sell the Fox RSNs. ESPN could have easily absorbed the stations and even cut costs without dumping teams.

Cuba can’t risk the loss of that sweet sweet tv money. They gotta pay off those biblical losses!

How do you rank Chris Getz' GM tenure so far?
It didn’t hurt that they had an actual good staff to Develop the minor League system. Getz got a F plus for that job.

Tommy boy gets an A for putting more money in the trust fund that not only owns the cubs but that he is a beneficiary of.

Jerry Reinsdorf open to selling the White Sox per Britt Ghiroli
these projects where private business gets public money always tout the jobs. the short term construction jobs plus the "permanent" jobs after the fact. yes, sox park has more seasonal day of game staff than full time posts, but 1000 or more people working is still better than none. in the case of the 78 proposal, we're also looking at the halo effect of related business on the site providing jobs as well.

Jerry Reinsdorf open to selling the White Sox per Britt Ghiroli
he's doing reinsdorf's bidding. location was just fine when they sold almost 3 million tickets without the dan ryan operating AT ALL for two full seasons. yes, there was a world series halo, but that team also won 90 games. and the 90 loss team in 2007? 2.67 million fans with the same lack of superhighway access.
