Reynaldo getting the call and the ball on Friday
LittleHurt05 replied to Rowand44's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 18, 2017 -> 03:09 PM) We've seen him have enough nagging health problems from the moment he signed with us that I'm skeptical about that. Wouldn't be stunned, but skeptical. Yeah, I envision Albert Pujols, but hope I'm wrong. It does help Jose that the played so many years in Cuba with much shorter seasons. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 18, 2017 -> 01:03 PM) .294 with 23 homers, 75 RBI and OBP of .346 this season after three straight 100 RBI seasons. He could have 100 RBI four straight seasons. He's pretty damn special. OK, how bout 2-3 cant miss type prospects? Chris Sale, a perennial Cy Young candidate with the best contract in all of baseball netted 2 "can't miss" prospects. -
https://www.thescore.com/news/1353465 Jeter to make a $5 million salary to run the Marlins' baseball operations, because you know, he has SO much experience running a baseball team.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 18, 2017 -> 12:01 PM) Bannon is out. That's good news. I know there were rumors, but I was worried he took power again with all of Trump's white supremacy comments this week.

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 06:08 AM) That challenge was awesome. Do it every year. I thought that challenge sucked. Jenna figured it out, but the other 4 matchups were just coin flips as to whose limb was hanging where at the last second. Any physical challenge where Tony can beat Darrel is obviously flawed.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 08:17 PM) Trump is so hated you wonder if he will ultimately be assassinated. I'm not wanting that. But judging from people on social media and TV and all that, I'm very surprised he's still living. I mean people DESPISE our prez. There are so many nutjobs and aggressive nutjobs out there I am surprised he is safe from assassins. He should just quit because all of a sudden he'd be loved for quitting. He made his point. He won. He beat crooked Hillary. Now he can do the country a favor and resign. Wow greg, I think you finally crossed the line. Wow man.

So that's why Theo only went after young hitters, not pitchers. Fooled me the whole time.

QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 08:03 PM) You can't actually be this dense. Can you? Yoan has strikeout issues. Serious strikeout issues. Those issues could, and in my opinion will, stop him from being what people expect him to be. Hitting a homerun is nice, but it doesn't change his issues. Joe Borchard hit monster home runs too, but it didn't override his issues (and no I'm not comparing the very different tool sets of these two players). I just can't stand seeing Yoan do something positive, and then have some tool wanting to know the whereabouts of that one guy who dared to doubt him. I'm right here, my doubts are still right here. If that's what you really feel, then keep being you. People get so excited about the rebuild, they forget bigger prospects than Moncada have busted. We all hope he doesn't, as do you, but baseball is a funny game.

Van plows through crowd of tourists in Barcelona Spain
LittleHurt05 replied to knightni's topic in The Filibuster
A massive house explosion in Spain yesterday, initially thought to be natural gas, is now linked to the van attack today. Sound like it could have all been even worse. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/08/17...-barcelona/amp/ -
Someone tell Justin Wilson that pitching in the National league is supposed to be easier

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 04:43 PM) I had a friend post on fb that the alt-right is the majority and pays the majority of taxes in this country and are ruling the way they want to rule. I mean. Its a statistical impossibility for a minority fringe group to be the majority of anything. WTF is wrong with these idiots. It's fair to say that a minority part of the country pays a majority of the taxes. Are those people alt right?? Very, very few of them

QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 12:09 PM) Tony is so lucky to have Bananas looking out for him because he was on the verge of having another meltdown that could have cost him his spot on the show. I get that people have their vices but when it happens over ... and over ... and over... it gets harder to sympathize and easier to root against him. And he acts like having children makes him a better man somehow. No, it just means you have to be responsible now. Let's not forget your children are 3 months apart with separate mothers, way to go buddy.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 11:57 AM) I wish some poster would make a thread that tracks how all of our former players are doing. I watched Robertson get a save last night. I haven't heard much about any of the former Sox now on other teams. It would be cool to have day to day updates on each of them. You are more than welcome to. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 09:24 AM) This bullpen is really something else. (hoping I say the same thing 2 years from now, but in a different context) The website I frequent for fantasy baseball bullpen updates ended with this blurb in their Sox update:
-
Moncada hitting 6th, Anderson 8th in today's Renteria roulette

Might be time to hang em up Homer Bailey

Rick Hahn & Kenny Williams Sign Long Term Extensions
LittleHurt05 replied to GGajewski18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 04:17 PM) Not me. That's completely false greg. You keep saying that many of these prospects are can't miss and you are certain they will be great major leaguers. That's 100% blind faith in the front office and their ability to identify and develop talent -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 12:38 PM) What does amuse me is the blind faith people are putting in this front office. Supposedly they couldn't identify major league pieces that fit a winning roster, couldn't draft or develop for s*** for years, now they acquire all these prospects and are geniuses. They are going to win 100 games a year for a decade. To me, identifying major league players who can help a team vs. prospects who will develop into stars, seems to be a lot easier. And the people in charge failed to do the easy one. Why is it a slam dunk this is going to work out just fine? The wrong guys go south and this could be a disaster. They did what they did, and probably what they had to do, I'm still looking at it cautiously. I'm not sold on the talent evaluators and developers. I don't know why they suddenly would become top of the line. It helps when all of the professional "evaluators" around the country seem to agree on how talented these new acquisitions are, but you are 100% right. They made various changes in the development and scouting areas, but also can't assume those are improvements either. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 15, 2017 -> 03:32 PM) Maria back at US Open They didn't have a choice but to let her in with all the star power gone. Obviously Serena is out, but the mens bracket is getting decimated now. Wawrinka, Djokovic and Nishikori were 3 of the 4 semifinalists last year, all of them are out. Federer and Murray are questionable.
