  1. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 02:12 PM) That's really cool. Love that the teacher takes pride in being able to have taught this slugger. I'm like 95% sure that I once read that Konerko's phone number as a kid ended with these 4 digits: 2005.
  2. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 02:10 PM) I am not disagreeing with you at all but why is it that so many people are behind Brent but dismiss Humber as being a fluke? I don't think Humber is a fluke, to be honest. If he is, so what? At this point, the Sox need to keep throwing the guys out there that help them win or give them the best chance to win, even if it means sending $8M to the bullpen (Jackson) or having your $12.5M CF on the bench (Rios).
  3. Lillibridge has been killing the baseball, and it's gone on far too long for it to be just a mirage. Oz needs to keep him in the lineup. Letting Rios play and trying to get him out of his slump is hurting the team too much especially when Lillibridge can mash.
  4. I can't believe Kenny gave that POS Alexei $35 million!
  5. Without checking pages 2-6, did I really read that Alexei Ramirez won't get any better? He's hitting about .280 now, which is seemingly about 40 points higher than where he's usually at by the end of May. Remember how frustrating he's been in the past in the cold? This isn't even mentioning that his OBP is around .330, and for Alexei, that's pretty damn good. Also, he keeps getting better in the field. I could easily make an argument that he's the best or 2nd best SS in the AL. He should be on the AS team, but you know that won't happen.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 30, 2011 -> 08:35 PM) Beckham was supposed to be as close to a lock for stardom we've had since Frank. And he's gone ass backwards. Like I said, I pray but I don't think they'll ever be answered. Which BTW, is anyone interested in an authentic Beckham black jersey size 48? I could go as low as $75. For those unaware, a 48 is like a L/XL. I have too many jerseys. And yes, this is authentic; I bought it for $225. It's not one of those fake $60 things.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 30, 2011 -> 08:25 PM) I'll take good at this point. It's really demoralizing how it seems every team has 1-2 young studs kickin' ass right off the bat, and we have to go back to the 90's to find the last homegrown youngster to do the same for us. I mean, I think Viciedo can be a great DH for the Sox for years, but after him, Ramirez, and Santos, the Sox have no good youth. I pray everyday that Beckham can be a .300/25 HR/30 doubles guy but I'm not so sure those prayers will ever be answered.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 30, 2011 -> 07:57 PM) What the? Where the hell have you been? Welcome back. Life has been kicking my a$$ repeatedly. I should be around more now. But really, do you think Beckham will ever be the great hitter he was made out to be?
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 30, 2011 -> 07:50 PM) Fathom, have you seen what Hosmer and Bruce have been doing? It's so depressing to see all this young talent shining all over the league and we're, well, ya know. Remember the old days when Beckham was going to be a great hitter? Does anyone think he can be that still? Or did the FO f*** up by bringing him up so soon? QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2011 -> 07:52 PM) I'm shocked at how well Hosmer is playing. I thought he'd be a slap hitter his first few years, but he's driving the heck out of it. Bruce is just a great player, but it's pathetic to see how Dusty has killed another young starting rotation. That Brewers team is really good right now...might be most exciting team to watch. You are not lying. Did you see Hawk's guy Gomez get around the bases in like 14 seconds the other day? Holy s***.
  10. What's up, fellas? It's been awhile. I just have a quick question. I'm going to buy a 1959 Sox hat from Grandstand. The only problem is, they have 2. They have the one with the little red wing and the same but with a yellow wing. I believe their logo was the one with the red wing, but I've seen a sweatshirt with the yellow wing. Here's the t-shirt version of the hoody I saw: http://projerseysport.net/team-gear/img/p/...6-964-large.jpg But here's the hat: http://www.grandstandsox.com/media/catalog...x_adj406_14.jpg Help..
  11. With a weak OL draft class, I'd love to see Julio Jones or Michael Floyd in Chicago next year.
  12. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 03:29 PM) And miss Edwin's first start? That's "E-JAX!" to you, pal.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 03:32 PM) Gio had one bad inning, other than that, he dominated us. He's grown a lot since we kicked his ass last year in Oakland. Great homestand. Now go to Detroit and take those Tigers out of the race for good. I was being serious, so yeah, I know.
  14. Floyd was good, Lillibridge filled in nicely, I love seeing Castro get more PT, and Putz is flat out nasty. Oh, and Gio is good. That is all.
  15. Tonight it says there are 2 shows on. Is the first 30 minutes a new one, and the next 30 a re-run?
  16. @CSNChi_Beatnik: Jackson is merely the most crucial piece to securing Adam Dunn...The big fella is on his way to Chicago, friends.
  17. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:26 PM) So essentially they're fakes, being passed off as "authentics"? Yes, correct. The material almost looks silky and the numbers are glossy.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:29 PM) How can you have such contradictory tweets in a span of 5 minutes? I wouldn't say it's contradictory. They want more than just Jackson is what Kurkjian is saying.
  19. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:26 PM) Thats the thing that gets me....people are fuming about losing Hudson for Jackson, who we'd control for another year+, but are all quite ok to give him up for Dunn, a 3 month strikeout machine rental... Dunn is hitting in the neighborhood of .285 with a ridiculous OBP, with sickening opposite field power, and with great power in general. He's Thome on major PED's.
  20. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:25 PM) Unless I missed something, Chris Young isn't a pitcher! Guess I should have made that part a bit more clear. I'm just saying, we (SoxTalk armchair GMs) get so attached to prospects that may never see the light of day, that we over-value them to the point of comedy. Isn't there a Chris Young pitcher too?
  21. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:19 PM) Bowden reported that Dunn is close to being a member of the Sox Bowden?
  22. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:04 PM) Hmmm. ?!? What's a $60 "authentic"? Seeing that I own all authentics, they range in price from $200-$300 (for the Cooperstown ones). How could there possibly be a $60 "authentic"? Which is my point. I guess it's annoying b/c I used to manage a sports store. I own the white authentic Alexei and the black authentic Beckham, and now people at the Cell have these piece of garbage jerseys. Like I said, they claim their authentic, "I mean look, their stitched!" Catch my drift? BTW- I'm not ragging on what people can or can't afford, but if you can pay $60 for a "sweet" jersey then what they paid for a ticket plus gas to get to the game plus parking, I'm sure they can just pay another $40 for the official replica jersey.
  23. But really, it's just flipping a guy who hasn't gotten it done yet in the MLB and a prospect for a guy who has proved he can get it done even though it was last year. I think they're going to keep Jackson. Welcome to the Sox, E-Jax.
  24. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:11 AM) I'm not sure what you're talking about. Whats is this $60 authentic? I guess I should've put quotes around authentic. People think they're the real things.
