  1. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 03:05 PM) What sucks is that losing smyly doesn't matter becuase he's replaced with price and doesn't hurt losing Jackson either. Didn't hurt their major league team. Athletics had to lose cespedes. Rays weren't going to take Cespesdes' fairly expensive contract and deal with his impeding free agency in a year. They don't have the money to retain him. That's why the A's didn't get Price. Cespedes is a much better piece now than Franklin or Smyly ever will be. And honestly, Smyly is not any better than Tommy Milone.
  2. MLB Trade Rumors just broke...
  3. Price, Scherzer, Sanchez, Verlander, Porcello. Damn.
  4. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 02:59 PM) Holy sh*t! Tampa just got fleeced for Price. I would have expected more than Franklin and Smyly.
  5. Jackson's going to Seattle. Nick Franklin and Smyly going to Tampa.
  6. Wow they're taking him out in the middle of the inning.
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 02:33 PM) Rios is the John Danks of batters. He makes $15 million to be average - and he's been worse than average this year, like Danks. Both on pace for 1.4 WAR. Ya don't say.
  8. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 02:31 PM) Leury hitting .186/.222/.246. Meanwhile Rios is wanted by 4 or 5 teams. D'oh! It's not like freeing up Rios' salary got us Abreu. Freeing up Peavy's salary did that. I think the Sox wanted to let Viciedo develop, but that hasn't exactly worked out.
  9. Remember when Beckham was hitting near .300 a few months ago? It looked like he had a little bit of trade value back then.
  10. Danks would have been average in 2006. In this day and age, a starter with an ERA/FIP in the mid 4s is not considered average anymore.
  11. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 02:05 PM) 2B maybe? Ian Desmond has been a good SS; just not as good defensively as Cabrera. Rendon plays 2B. Cabrera makes no sense for them unless Zimmerman will be out for a long time. Edit: after reading about Zimmerman's grade 3 hamstring strain, this trade makes a lot more sense. Rendon goes back to 3B. Cabrera to 2B, where his lack of range will be less of an issue. Desmond is actually a good defensive SS.
  12. QUOTE (shysocks @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 02:00 PM) Gillaspie against lefties: .213/.250/.280. He's rightly sitting today. I'm not talking about today specifically. I've felt he should be hitting second for a while now. But Robin won't do it because it'll put Eaton and him back to back.
  13. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 01:54 PM) Batting Ramirez 2nd is retarded in the first place. Conor should be hitting second. I don't care if he's left-handed. When you have a guy with a .370 OBP batting 6th and the rest of your lineup sucks, you're doing it wrong.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 10:51 AM) Jerry Crasnick ‏@jcrasnick 22m #Twins announce that Tommy Milone will report to Triple-A Rochester. Because? ...what?
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 11:59 AM) Was being the key word. Certainly his acquistion shouldn't be heralded as wow, when the price was a pretty good pitcher. That's not the point. If you have a track record of doing something over 1200 PA, sucking in 400 PA doesn't mean you're now terrible. Especially when Craig's only 30. He's not 35. Viciedo's never had sustained success at the big league level. His best season featured a 99 wRC+. That's the definition of mediocre at best.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 11:55 AM) Craig and Viciedo have identical OPS. Except Allen Craig was a .300+ hitter for two full seasons before this year.
  17. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 11:54 AM) Jeff Passan: Yankees looking for incremental upgrades, not big pieces. Danks is not a big piece.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 11:53 AM) That's how you "rebuild" for next season. They've done it once already.
  19. Red Sox are doing pretty great today. Cespdes, Craig, and Kelly for Lester, Lackey, and Gomes.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 10:27 AM) Who cares...at this point, you're trying to win a World Series. Every little bit helps. I guess they needed Fuld after Gentry got hurt.
  21. Did the A's seriously just re-acquire somebody they let go THIS year for Milone? Ugh. Sox are going to struggle against Milone for years to come, I think I know that much. Twins got him for basically nothing.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 30, 2014 -> 08:20 PM) I guess Corey Kluber is for real, huh. Wow. He was for real last year.
  23. Now this was a trade I did not expect. Billy Beane is going all out. Oakland's probably gonna play a platoon of Reddick and Gomes with Gentry and Crisp as their regular OFers.
  24. I haven't dealt with malware in years... In the end, it's really about what you click on.
  25. Why would they want to trade Keuchel?
