That's two home runs in a normal park without the wind blowing in.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 01:40 PM) On Gameday I saw 92. That was on the CSN broadcast as well. He threw a 90 MPH fastball right before that.

Danks with a low 90s fastball would be decent John Danks again. I can't wait to have that guy back.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 01:38 PM) Haven't there been reports that KC's radar gun is a little hot though? I'd believe it if Danks is throwing 92 out of nowhere.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 01:37 PM) How fast was Danks' fastball last year? 87-88 on average. He's sitting in the low 90s right now.

White Sox @ Royals 1:10 CT
Is it just adrenaline or is Danks actually going to throw harder this year?

White Sox @ Royals 1:10 CT
Can we just plunk Escobar next time? He's going to get on anyhow.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 01:35 PM) It's great to see that we are are working counts.. Was that 6 pitches? They made two pretty good defensive plays there. Nothing you can really do about that.

White Sox @ Royals 1:10 CT
Can the Royals just, you know, screw up once on defense?

White Sox @ Royals 1:10 CT
If that was one of our OFers, that ball would have popped out after the collision.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 01:29 PM) Accompanied, I'm guessing, by Hawk explaining Moustakas will have the best year of his career as long as he hits second because he'll have things to do and something something. lol he was going there. I understand there's a different mentality when hitting second, but if anything, the idea of the 2-hole hitter being somebody to move runners over is getting phased out in baseball. More and more teams are putting some of their best hitters in that spot. And it's not to move runners over to third.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 01:27 PM) He was something like 1/18 before that at-bat. Fundamentals. Execution. Can the White Sox up their game offensively? He's been serving those outside pitches to right all series. Yet we continue to throw those to him.

Ned Yost bunting in the first inning...classic.

My goodness, how do we let Escobar just destroy us like this?

Danks touching 90. That's encouraging.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 10:16 AM) On paper, he's one of the most glaringly obvious negative regression candidates in all of baseball. I'm going to be very disappointed in the gods of baseball if he has a good year. Ground ball pitcher + move to bigger park + good IF defense = low BABIP = another fluke year.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 06:36 AM) This game is an automatic win. Volquez is a real b**** and we roughed him up back in his major league debut in 2005. I say we repeat history and we score 5 runs in 4 2/3 innings. Meanwhile, Danks has NEVER lost to the Royals in career, going 7-0 with a 2.43 ERA. Not sure the reason (probably some pre-game Jack Stack's), but he's better when pitching at Kauffman stadium. I'll say he goes 6 strong innings giving just one run. Offensively, Abreu hits another bomb, Alexei gets his first two hits, and Micah Johnson steals a couple of bases. Volquez is a much different pitcher now than he was back then. He's a sinker-baller ground ball pitcher now. He pitches to contact instead of trying to miss bats like before. With how good the Royals infield defense is, I'm expecting him to have a nice year.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 12:19 AM) Wouldn't surprise me if Danks out pitches Shark and Q. That's baseball. To be fair, it wouldn't be that hard to out-pitch our starters the past 2 games.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 10:34 PM) We just need to pound Volquez tomorrow. Because the Royals are going to jump on Danks.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 10:26 PM) key word: "close" and yea, that pitching tho. To a Royals lineup that is OK but certainly not close to the league's toughest. As long as we keep letting Escobar get on 75% of the time, KC's offense is going to look awesome.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 10:20 PM) Literally zero way to know that two games into the season. Zero. Definitely not zero. Robertson's good, but he's equal to Holland or Davis at best.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 10:18 PM) We've had a bullpen that throws nothing but heat. That's not what makes them so effective. The are arguably the best pen in baseball because they are accurate and have nasty stuff breaking and straight. It's not like we are facing nobodies here I'm just saying that even though we spent $65 million this off-season on bullpen arms, we're still far behind KC.
