Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 05:12 PM) Not buying this. Why would they trade Ian Kennedy to acquire Bud Norris? Bud Norris is meher than meh. Norris is a lot better than Kennedy. Mostly because Kennedy's been awful this year.

Rangers have inquired about Konerko
I don't think we'll get anything for him. We'll just end up saving around $5 million. If Paulie is planning on retiring after this year, we might as well hold onto him.

Rios, $1M traded to Rangers
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 04:04 PM) Twitter is LOL bad this time of year. Do a search for Alex Rios and you find out he's certainly going to Pitt and you find out it's not happening. Twitter is a f***ing joke is what it is. Reporters should just wait. Updates that say a trade is close are not valuable, especially when the reports change less than 24 hours later. It's throwing s*** against the wall. Social media ... f***ing stupid. Here's my tweet if I wanted to have a fake account. Look for Peavy trade to come down tonight. Not sure where he's headed yet. 2-3 teams still in running. he will be dealt. Look for Rios to be traded to Pirates or Yankees for sure in next 24 hours. White Sox will deal him to team willing to pick up 3/4s of his contract at minimum. This is why you follow legitimate sources...

Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 10:31 PM) You guys despise me, but I've been saying this all along, that Jerry won't wanna pay teams money for taking Peavy/Rios/Dunn off our hands. We shouldn't have to pay other teams money to trade Peavy. He's probably the best pitcher available at the deadline right now. When was the last time a team had to throw in money for a big name starting pitcher dealt at the deadline? I can understand Dunn and I can understand Rios to a point, but we better not pay other teams for taking Peavy off our hands. The JR is cheap crap that uneducated Bulls fan spout is annoying enough (they point to the fact that the White Sox have a higher payroll). But now White Sox fans are saying Jerry's too cheap for not paying others to take the best pitcher available at the trading deadline? It's come full circle now.

Where would you live?
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 09:19 AM) Let's say your employer comes to you and says: 1. We're going to double your pay 2. We'd like you to change locations 3. You can work anywhere in the USA or Canada, except those poopy French parts Where do you go? I'd imagine some folks will stay put and others will hightail it outta there. I think I'd go to Boulder, CO Probably San Diego.

Sox trying to deal Lindstrom

Chris Sale is a Stud Thread
QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 07:55 AM) Shutting him down would be dumb. If you want to limit his innings or pitches the rest of the way, fine, but shutting him down with 2 months left in the season does nothing. Exactly. Just don't let Robin have him throw 120 pitches a start. If anything, that f***s up a pitcher.

Sox trying to deal Lindstrom
Greg is right guys. A middle reliever with a ERA in the low 3s and a fine FIP to match is definitely just another Boone Logan. Other than not being left handed, Matt Lindstrom is way better than Matt Thornton (and Boone Logan too, obviously).

NBA Thread 2013-2014
QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 12:12 PM) I wish the bulls could trade nothing for something like other teams manage to do. Pacers get Scola for green. Scola wasn't that great last year. But Green was absolutely awful.

2013 MLB Catch-All thread
QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 02:52 PM) Interesting story about why some of the best hitters in MLB can hit 95 MPH pitches from other ML pitchers but can't even get a bat on a 65 MPH softball pitched by Jennie Finch. I've always said it's the pitching motion that messes them up. I had the exact opposite problem. I played fast-pitch for 10+ years with no problem when I was a kid, but struggled like hell to hit a baseball on my HS team. Link That's because they're probably distracted by Jennie Finch.

Ordered the new Nexus 7 off Newegg just now. That's the only place that doesn't charge me tax.

Recreation Ribbon 7/25
Robin let Peavy throw 118 pitches? The f*** dude?

Recreation Ribbon 7/25
It's like Robin doesn't want anyone to be traded.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 09:56 AM) lol Aaron Rodgers. And karma's a b**** ain't it Ryan Braun? Rodgers is a tool for defending Braun. Unless of course, he's also on PEDs or something.

Technology catch-all thread
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 12:28 AM) That is so cool, assuming "waterproof" also means water functional, like I could theoretically text underwater, although that would be difficult. Yup. You can take it to the shower with you, in the pool, in a river, whatever. Just don't submerge it for more than 30 minutes.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 11:41 PM) Samsung Galaxy S 4 Active waterproof feature. Cool thing, or the coolest thing? As I am not in the market for a phone, I'm not sure how many other phones are waterproof as well, but texting in the pool sounds amazing. It's always a 30 seconds process of wiping my hands completely dry before checking my texts every 10 minutes in the pool. Sony Xperia Z is also waterproof.

Rios pulled from game
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 07:06 AM) Rios' trade value isn't affected by Ventura sitting him. It is affected by Rios dogging it. My point is Rios' is probably as close to being traded as more than half the White Sox. The reports were the Sox were dissappointed in what was being discussed. Rosenthal even speculated the Sox would have to throw cash and/or a prospect to take him off their hands. Nobody would have cared about Rios dogging it if Ventura didn't pull him and mention it to the media. But now it's a national story.

Rios pulled from game
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 07:02 PM) Again, it is no secret Rios dogged it. He even admitted it. Ventura did nothing wrong. He held Rios accountable and put the White Sox, not Rios' feelings, first. Maybe it woke Rios up a little bit. Big picture is the White Sox future. Chances are, Rios is going to be around for a while. Rios is gone after 2014. If the team really wants to rebuild, there is no reason for them to keep Rios.

Technology catch-all thread
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 04:22 PM) Yeah I'm definitely intrigued as their seems to be more emphasis on user experience over specs. They're also pumping $500M into marketing and releasing it on every carrier. No confirmation yet but this should be stock or near stock so updates could be quick. And yeah, the HTC One arriving so late on Verizon is a joke. The 8/1 date isn't even confirmed. I have a feeling this phone will get a lot of developer support too. But then again, most flagship phones get dev support these days. The hardware on the phone isn't as good as I would like. It's a dual core Qualcomm S4 Pro, but scores 18-19k in Antutu. For reference, the Nexus 4 scores around the same, if not lower. Perhaps the smaller resolution and less powerful chip will translate to better battery life. That's definitely something Motorola is good at.

Rios pulled from game
QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 03:41 PM) I am on board with those who say Rios isn't the only guy who loafs to first on a hard hit ball to the SS. 99.9% of the time that is an easy DP. Rio knew that and put his head down in disgust.....Can't remember how many times we've seen our captain PK do the exact same thing. I don't think RV handled correctly. PK's great at doing that.
