THE CLUB - 2010
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 11:51 AM) The last couple episodes were great. Really made Kenny come off as a funny, light-hearted guy. I was watching with a Cubs fan, and a dbacks fan, and we were all laughing our ass off at Kenny saying "How does this guy know this s***?" and "Alright, everyone put your phones in the middle" during the Trade Deadline episode. And Ozzie riding around his bike was hilarious. I found that hilarious.

The Official Run Into Outs Thread
QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 10:59 AM) here's the silliest thing about running Rios (or anyone) with two outs and Konerko up: In the case of a homer, triple ,double or walk, it doesn't matter whether Rios is on second base or 1st base. The only time it matters is if Paul singles. Konerko has a combined 2518 hits+walks. He has 1402 total homers, triples and doubles, and walks combined. He has 1116 singles. In other words, there's around a 60% chance if Paul reaches that it doesn't matter whether Alex is on first base or second base, and that's before you even factor in CS percentage. Secondly, why the f*** are you playing for 1 run, down 5? Dumb, dumb, dumb. If Konerko kept that first inning going longer, who knows what happens last night. And it was pretty obvious that they weren't going to go after Konerko with Kotsay on deck.

2010 AL Central Catch-All
QUOTE (Benchwarmerjim @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 05:07 PM) Perkins ERA is high in AAA, but it was over 10 for a good chunk of the early season. He has pitched better over the past month or so. You'd think so. It's hard to have an ERA over 10.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 08:22 AM) If a lot of Reds get suspended, this would rank up there as one of the most interesting failures by a Dusty Baker coached team. I would love to see that happen. That whole kicking match had to do with Dusty barking at Carpenter or La Rusa. What a great job by a manager to try and calm his team down.

8/11 White Sox Vs Twins
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 10:34 AM) Big guy stepping up. I like it. We need Danks to step up big, just like Jason did there.

QUOTE (qwerty @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 10:36 AM) Of course this was not responded to. Coincidences are a damn pain in the ass. Yeah they are. That lineup optimizer has its flaws obviously, but I found it pretty weird that it was so dead on.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 09:58 AM) So...our sacrifice bunt %age is 79%. I'm going to remember that the next time I'm told that Juan Pierre has only a 75% shot at successfully stealing that base and the bunt is a sure thing. Somebody needs to tell this to Rongey...

Is Freddy Dead (Armed?)
Freddy was never all that good to begin with. When Freddy's good, he's tolerable and decent. When Freddy's bad, he real bad.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 10:06 PM) 99 percent of the people on here didnt want Thome back while watching him last season. Hindsight is a fun game. I must have been the 1%.

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 10:01 PM) Without Kotsay, we get swept in Baltimore No we don't. In the game we won, all Kotsay did was get thrown out on an attempt for a double.

QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 09:53 PM) He must hate him? Geezus... This is how rumors start. No... Ozzie does NOT hate Thome. He repeatedly over and over talks about how much respect he (and the entire organization) has for Thome. The bottom line is that he (and probably Kenny) felt they didn't want to disrespect Thome by bringing him back for a pittance this season after the big contract he had here... and then have him only play in a reserve role. They felt it would be an uncomfortable situation for everyone. In situations like that, it's easier to have someone move on and let the new team make that decision. The mistake the Sox made was in thinking Thome's skills might be diminishing more/faster than they have. So then why did Jim take a next to nothing deal to play in a DH platoon for the Twins?

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 09:53 PM) Come on boys....don't stop now! 8 runs before we get 3 outs and this game is a winner!!! Only the 2001 Indians did a feat like that.

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 09:48 PM) Lol - wake up, indeed! Take your own medicine, buddy. 5th starters aren't hired to beat "aces". Aces are meant and paid to beat aces. 5th starters are meant to eat up innings over the course of a 162 game season and, hopefully, try and win in the double digit column in the process. Freddy has done that going into tonight's game, winning as I mentioned ten games through just two thirds of the season. I'll do a little math for you and let you in on the secret that he's on pace for a 15 game win season, which would be absolutely superb for a 5th starter. So as far as Freddy's performance as a 5th starter goes, he's been as good as anyone could have hoped for, tonight's unfortunate outcome notwithstanding. Freddy did his part as a 5th starter in the first half. This second half's been just bad though.

QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 09:45 PM) It is falling and for all you Pena fans out there, your boy did it again. They had momentum going into the 3rd and Pena took it all away. Like he does again and again and again. Why the hell are you all on Tony Pena for? He mops up bad situations.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 09:45 PM) Well, we know Ozzie thought Thome wasn't "mean" enough and the clubhouse suffered as a result. He wanted more grinders! As Ozzie said, good guys finish last. He thought Thome's niceness would disrupt this team's badass-ness. Unfortunately, baseball is not WRASTLING.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 09:33 PM) Before the game, wasn't Ozzie saying something about how he couldn't have Thome on this roster? What a joke he is at times (when it comes to his stupid man-crushes) Yup, I heard it on Boers and Bernstein, Bernstein brought up Thome's numbers and I just shook my head. .404 wOBA...would be second best on the team right behind Konerko.
