  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 09:13 AM) Of course not, because Drake wouldn't be an issue. I know you know that. The White Sox promised him something, they weaseled out of their promise, and he did them a favor and walked away from $13 million. Be happy. They "weaseled" out of their promise when veteran players complained. They told him it was fine last year and I agree there. The problem is, when new players on the team are bothered by it, the situation needs to be addressed. And it just was.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 09:13 AM) Of course not, because Drake wouldn't be an issue. I know you know that. Not sure I agree. I think Jimmy Rollins and Alex Avila still would have had an issue with a 14 year old being around constantly.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 08:59 AM) Where does it stop? If someone you work with says something, is that on you? If Adam LaRoche had a good year last year, I am thinking many opinions would be quite different, and Chris Sale and Adam Eaton wouldn't be stooges, but a brave heroes willing to go up against the almighty KW. I do hope for all those that called LaRoche selfish, if he does change his mind, they will have the courtesy of taking it back. It's funny when Cuddyer retired, many wondered, why not LaRoche. They wanted LaRoche to go away. He goes away, now he's a bad father, selfish, quit on the team....He left and gave the White Sox $13 million. The anger should be happiness. If Adam LaRoche had a good year last year, I doubt he'd be retiring.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 08:54 AM) So what. Do you have a brother? Are you responsible for what comes out of his mouth? It's his company. He can't claim that the f***ing company is his and then say that he had nothing to do with the tweets. He hasn't said that but I'm just saying. If LaRoche didn't want the company saying these things, they wouldn't be out there. He is selfish. In this case, I'm glad he's being selfish because he sucks and I'm glad he's no longer on my favorite baseball team. That doesn't make him any less of an irrational baby though.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 08:38 AM) If anyone thinks this story wouldn't have eventually come out, you are kidding yourselves, and blaming LaRoche is silly. He has been as quiet as anyone. He won't even return Tony Clark's calls. It's better that it came out now than closer to the real games. At least now there is a decent chance it is long gone by the time the games count. LaRoche hasn't said anything but his company, his father, Pittsburgh writers, and his brother tried to get it out there as soon as possible.
  6. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 07:56 AM) Are the Sox rumored to be interested in Cashner? I haven't seen anything about him lately. No. The writer just used Cashner as an example of a guy that they could acquire.

  8. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:51 PM) Would the vet players who complained had really said something if they didn't think and see LaRoche was more focused on playing coach to his son then actually prepping for the season. I wouldn't even doubt some last year guys said something since they figured he'd sharpen up this ST since last year he was downright terrible. Tom Shaer was just on with Laurence Holmes and mentioned that guys complained last year as well.
  9. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:51 PM) soxfan85 - what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul. Great movie. Knibb High Football Rules!!!! haha
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:58 PM) It's possible with the off day, he's back home having some family time. #FamilyFirst
  11. So the Jimmy Rollins signing was genius. He got LaRoche off the team and saved the White Sox $13 million.
  12. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:30 PM) Am I the only one who thinks this won't impact their play on the field? I don't think it matters at all honestly. This team needed a kick in the ass. Last year they sucked, had no leadership from the manager, and no leadership from the players. Avila, Frazier, Navarro, Jackson, and Rollins have been on wing teams before. This team needs this in my opinion.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:23 PM) They specifically said Rollins? Spiegel said this is a case of veteran players seeing the way it's been done in winning clubhouses and putting a stop to it. Then Bernstein said " Does Jimmy Rollins really think it's worth it though"? and Spiegel kind of just like laughed because Bernstein gave up the name.
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:20 PM) So Sale told KW "get the f*** out of the clubhouse"? I feel bad for KW if Rollins/Avila really did tell him that the Drake stuff was getting old, and then Sale goes crazy on KW Sale is an idiot though. I mean he's an awesome pitcher and I'm glad he's on the team but he's not the most intelligent guy around.
  15. Bernstein and Spiegel basically just confirmed that a group of players led by Jimmy Rollins went to management. I understand Sale wanting to police their own room but they've done a poor job of doing that to this point and their manager doesn't do it. This is a case of new veteran players coming in and deciding that this had to stop.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 12:53 PM) Why not, the players are supporting him and would love for him to return. The players are publicly supporting him. There is a segment that don't want the kid in the locker room. LaRoche has to know this. Sounds like some real veterans finally came in and realized how weird the situation is.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 12:47 PM) yep, not going away Andy McCullough ‏@McCulloughTimes Tony Clark said the MLBPA has not yet ruled out the possibility of filing a grievance on Adam LaRoche's behalf with the White Sox. LOL a grievance for what? On what grounds? The best player on the team is pissed because KW made a reasonable request to one of the worst players on the team? This whole thing is incredibly stupid.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 12:42 PM) Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 7m7 minutes ago The main thrust of Chris Sale's anger with Kenny Williams was that he's not around enough to understand the dynamics of White Sox clubhouse. Someone needs to tell Jeff Passan that veteran players went to Kenny Williams. He didn't just come up with this. I can't tweet right now or I would.
  19. Spiegel basically confirmed today that players went to Kenny. The way it was talked about implies veterans. I'd go with Rollins and Avila if I had to guess.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 09:55 AM) They didn't. They agreed to let the kid in the clubhouse. Please provide one story where he is anywhere near Oney Guillen in terms of distraction. Just one is all I need and I will apologize. It doesn't matter. Some players didn't want him in there. It's their clubhouse. They complained to Kenny Williams or whoever and Kenny was comfortable with being the bad guy. That's all this is.
  21. QUOTE (shysocks @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 09:48 AM) My philosophy is not to hate Sox players just because they perform badly. They have to do something stupid off the field. Well congrats to Adam Laroche. You've punched your ticket. KW asked him to tone it down with the kid a week ago, he asked him again a couple days ago, so LaRoche quits, complains to all the idiots in his life that the Sox are persecuting him, and it leaks out. He has his stupid meat company retweeting #FamilyFirst nonsense as if the Sox told him he couldn't see his kid again for 8 months. THEY JUST TOLD YOU TO DIAL IT BACK, DUMMY. Good riddance. He obviously didn't want to be a good player for this team. F*** off forever, dude. I completely 100% agree with this take on the situation.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:49 AM) No it doesn't. Either kids are distractions or they are not. Either they make players uncomfortable or they don't. It makes no sense that this distraction is fine a few days a week, but it is unacceptable every day. Don't change the policy in the middle of spring training, and then have the nerve to say you didn't change the policy. KW could have waited a couple more weeks and then said no more. Drake was around last year. Why didn't he say anything then? He didn't say anything then because nobody complained about then, Dick. That's why this happened. I don't know how many players were uncomfortable with Drake being around but I can promise you it's more than zero.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:34 AM) How would you know if he is a good father or not? Adam said that he doesn't believe in school. He thinks that Drake will learn growing up in a baseball clubhouse and taking standardized tests instead. I disagree. I think he needs to be socialized and be with kids his own age instead of growing up around adults in a baseball clubhouse. I didn't think this stance was that controversial. This entire situation is so weird. Why would anyone want a 14 year old kid around their workplace constantly? I can't believe anyone is siding with LaRoche on this.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:29 AM) Again, I would be fine then if KW just banned kids period. But he didn't. If they are a distraction, this is a half assed effort on his and the team's part. Kids being around isn't a distraction. None of them should be around 100% of the time. Adam LaRoche has an employer. He doesn't get to make the rules. He was given the mandate from the employer and he decided to take his ball and go home. Good f***ing riddance.
  25. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:27 AM) I find it disturbing all the cheap shots being taken at Laroche. Not necessarily here, but all over the media. BAD FATHER, KID CAN'T READ..stuff like that. Lot of angry/disturbed people out there. I disagree. I'm sorry that I'm not going to jump on board and praise him for being a great father. He's not a great father.
