Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 09:38 AM) Hypothetically, if Cespedes' camp told the White Sox FO that they would accept a deal exactly like Upton's, would the Sox do it? Would you guys as fans be ok with it if they did? No chance they will go to 6 years on Cespedes and they shouldn't. That's too long of a commitment.

Top White Sox Prospects - Players 16-30
QUOTE (QuickJones81 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 09:46 AM) My guess is Nunez and Brennan are those two. Yeah probably. I'm higher on Brennan probably. They protected him and if he moves to relief he's going to come quickly.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 09:17 AM) I don't see the Sox signing Cespedes now. If they truly want to be all in then they should call the Rockies and try to grab CarGo. It will cost them a "real" prospect or two but he's on a 2 yr deal now so it'd fall in line with what they want to do. The hurdle is do the Sox want to give up a guy like Fulmer for him because that is going to be the cost. Fulmer for CarGo would be an awful trade. CarGo is basically a platoon hitter that is owed $38 million. I'd give up prospects that don't matter for him. Not someone in the top 4-5 though.

That Love trade was stupid and I said so at the time. Cleveland would be nasty with Lebron/Kyrie/Wiggins.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 08:46 AM) http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2...agent/78993474/ "Yoenis Cespedes should cash in after Upton's huge deal" If he went to the Angels on a 6 year deal or the Mets on a 1-2 year deal, can we really be upset about it though? If he stays in New York it's because he wants to be in New York. If he happens to get a 6 year deal, the Sox were never entertaining a 6 year deal anyway. Oh wait nevermind. Of course this fanbase will be mad.

Top White Sox Prospects - Players 16-30
There are a couple guys that will be left off the Top 30 that I didn't expect to be. I'll predict the Top 15 as such: 1. Tim Anderson SS 2. Carson Fulmer RHP 3. Spencer Adams RHP 4. Trey Michalczewski 3B 5. Tyler Danish RHP 6. Jordan Guerrero LHP 7. Micker Adolfo OF 8. Jacob May CF 9. Adam Engel CF 10. Courtney Hawkins OF 11. Corey Zangari 1B 12. Chris Beck RHP 13. Amado Nunez SS 14. Brandon Brennan RHP 15. Brian Clark LHP That leaves off guys like: Jhoandro Alfaro, Johan Cruz, Robinson Leyer, Michael Ynoa, Andre Wheeler, Blake Hickman, and Keon Barnum.

Heyman: Justin Upton to the Tigers
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 10:08 PM) Well, Upton was the guy I wanted all along. Hurts doubly that he's filling a significant hole on a division competitor. Hurts triply that the contract terms are reasonable. For the first time, I'm really believing that the "three year" bulls*** is real. And it really sucks. If we don't end up with a significant upgrade in RF somehow, this will be the first time since Hahn took over that I legitimately think he f***ed up. Is it Hahn's fault if they aren't allowed to spend though?

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 08:42 AM) I tend to think both home teams win next week, but it's really a toss up. Same for any Super Bowl match up. Hard to pick one team over another. I'll take both road teams actually

mlb network top cf right now
QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 17, 2016 -> 09:43 PM) Also would explain why Fowler doesn't seem to be in much of a hurry to do anything He's asking for 4 years and $60 million and has a draft pick attached.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 06:17 PM) In all fairness Fowler is a switch hitter so he would provide some pop from the left side ( 13 HR as a LH in '15). Also, its been speculated all off season that the outfielder the Sox wanted most was Alex Gordon due to his LHB, OBP, great defense and would have been a good middle of the order bat or even #2 in the lineup. This, despite Gordon being the oldest FA OF at 32. There's no overstating the Sox desire for a LHB. If anything, the Sox spending big money on Cespedes/Upton is what's being overstated by the media. Even after last week when the Sox reportedly turned their attention away from Cespedes/Upton and began looking at Fowler/CarGo, some fans could not let go of the Cespedes idea. Austin Jackson for less $$ and no comp pick attached is a better option than Fowler for more $$ and the loss of a top 30 draft pick. I'd prefer Cespedes. If I'm giving up a draft pick though it's for Upton.

White Sox interested in SS Ian Desmond
QUOTE (Dunt @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 02:32 PM) Austin Jackson's fWAR since entering the league: 2010 4.0 2011 2.4 2012 5.4 2013 3.0 2014 0.9 2015 2.3 Its not a sexy name, but there is a lot of value in a guy that doesnt cost a pick, plays above average defense, and can run the bases well. Fowler is a hotter name because of his ability to get on base, but I bet they have pretty similar values next season. I would much rather sign Austin Jackson than Dexter Fowler. Jackson lets you keep you the comp pick and gives you another good defender. It could move Eaton to an OF corner. It also allows you to sit LaRoche vs LHP if they also keep Avi. Sox have had weirdly constructed teams before.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 01:44 PM) Someone actually created this account on Twitter lol People got the hashtag #cesPAYdes trending on twitter. Fans have been calling and tweeting the White Sox all day telling them to sign him. It's pretty funny actually.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 09:36 AM) Dan Hayes was tweeting that the Sox (3126741000) received many calls on 7/31 asking not to trade Samardzija (which we either should have done, or we should have traded for Upton/Cespedes), so they didn't trade Samardzija. He's implying that if we call that number asking for Cespedes, then we'll get Cespedes. Take it FWIW, as I don't buy it. The White Sox called me the other day. I asked the girl if they were getting Cespedes. I told her to call back when they did haha.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 02:49 PM) If you were Ryan Pace and Jaylon Smith is still on the board (assuming Jack, Ramsey, and Hargreaves are off), do you still draft him? I would. No. Not at #11. Smith will go in the 1st round still but Bears can't afford to do that.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 01:24 PM) I think it's only like $900k, at least that's what it was last time he went to Rockford. I read it wrong. They can loan him and pick up the $3 million. Trade seems unlikely, so yes he'll be in Rockford.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
It seems to me that the White Sox would sign Cespedes to a 4 year deal. He needs to lower his demands though. The 3 year things isn't true but I don't think they'd want to go 5 years with him. Cespedes is running out of options.
-
Chris Davis back to Baltimore
Like I said yesterday, the White Sox should offer Cespedes a 4 year $88 million deal.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 12:48 PM) Honestly it sounds like a leak from the Sox FO to placate fans. Nightengale is their outlet for that. 3 year thing doesn't placate fans though

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 11:53 AM) Brittany Ghiroli: "Source: Cespedes deal could include an option year beyond guaranteed five years. Hitter-friendly Camden Yards is appealing for him." "Orioles seem serious, esp if they add that option. Nothing is imminent, but Cespedes is at least considering the offer." 5 years and $90 million is below market value. That'd be a good deal for the signing team.
