  1. Bridge of Spies is excellent
  2. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 09:31 AM) How is Nieto a free agent? He's on the 40 and has options left. He's not on the 40.
  3. Could Nobuhiro Matsuda be an option at 3B? He's already 32 but has put up nice numbers in Japan. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/11/nobu...eda-timing.html Here's one of his homers:
  4. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 07:42 AM) You think teams would want to try making trades for young cost controlled pitching before turning to free agent market giving out 9 figure contracts? Why? If I were a team with $$ I'd rather sign free agent pitching instead of giving up the prospects.
  5. QUOTE (shysocks @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 01:49 PM) No it wouldn't be plenty. The Sox don't need to trade the cost-controlled Quintana, so if they decide to do it I hope they can do better than guys who bring the serious questions that Baez, Soler, and Castro bring. Soler just had an Avi-like year. Baez will never strike out in fewer than 30% of his plate appearances; he'll have to run a .340 BABIP to be special. We know all about Castro's issues. I know they're young but it's still all a bunch of question marks. I want an exclamation point somewhere in a package for Q. I agree. Quintana package starts with Schwarber. Why would Cubs do that when they can just sign someone?
  6. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 08:51 AM) Mark another team off the list: White Sox are not the winners in the Byung-Ho Park sweepstakes.. https://twitter.com/JeffPassan/status/663730120750837766 Well that was fun. Brewers make the most sense.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 08:31 AM) The Brewers make some sense. Yes they do. Especially with Lind on the trade market supposedly. New, young GM that was in Oakland before. I could see it being them.
  8. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 08:24 AM) This is crazy. We should know in a few hours I'm guessing. Last year it was announced just before 10:30 in the morning
  9. Until the Rockies are ruled out, I'm going to assume it's them. It makes the most sense.
  10. With Josh Bell almost ready in Pittsburgh, I'll guess that it's Colorado for Park.
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 8, 2015 -> 06:25 PM) Unfortunately, at this point, this is exactly the kind of deal we should be looking to make. No it's not. The names would be Bogaerts and Betts or they'd get hung up on.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 03:35 PM) Yeah I apologize for my stance if it offends. To be clear, I am OK with the legality of a male/male union or female/female union. All the same legal rights you get as if it's man/woman union. And I don't like the fact some bakeries or whatever don't want to make cakes for male/male weddings, etc. That's kind of silly. Just make the f***ing cake. Who cares what it goes for. Although it'd be pretty disgusting to make a Nazi cake or a White Supremists cake. You can see why the bakery owners are balking about this issue. What if the government law made you make a White Supremist cake?? I'd be sickened in the whole process. Some bakery owners want the right to pick and choose who they serve. I also am going against my Catholic religion in saying gays, of course, should be admitted to the church. Although my church quietly is going against Rome as in my church's bylaws it indicates ALL are welcome. Anyhow, I should be ashamed of myself I guess. But it's simple physics to me. A man/man are incapable of biologically having a baby; ditto woman/woman. If a man wants to be with another man for life, fine. But I don't think it should be recognizd as marriage because IMO at least, God didn't design it that way because if he wanted it that way you'd biologically be able to have kids. I don't think I'm a bad person but I just think the one thing gays should give up is the idea of official marriage. It's a partnership not a marriage. Sorry I currently feel this way. If it makes me horrible person, my bad. And now we are comparing people who are gay to White Supremacists and Nazi's? Would you sell cake to black people? How about people with down syndrome or autism? It's the same thing.
  13. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 04:05 PM) Exactly. The odds are that a dominant young reliever is a lot more than the Sox will get from a comp pick. Sox should get someone at least as good of a prospect as Spencer Adams. Maybe even better. They'll have 2 top 30 selections. One at 10. Another in the late 20's.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 03:26 PM) Where the heck is Palatine? By Evanston? NW Burbs. Right next to Schaumburg.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 03:14 PM) Yes. It'll be at Palatine then. St. Laurence is still in it. They are 5A
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 02:57 PM) Thank u. I watched the third quarter on. Nice six point win for Bro Rice. Looks like Palatine the 13 seed is stunning the 4 seed so Br Rice I assume gets to host the next game in the quarterfinals. that would be amazing to reach the Final Four. I can't imagine beating Loyola. They seem to be on another plane. Great job, though. Illinois State playoffs are tough. Lot of games compared to a s***ty little state like Kansas. Proud of the Rice kids though. They did a nice job today again. Who knocked St. Laurence out of the playoffs? They had a decent little team as well. Has Brother Rice played 2 home games already?
  17. QUOTE (MDWhiteSoxFan @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 01:53 PM) It's been a while! But I would look into the likes of Ian Desmond and Asdrubal Cabrera. I feel Cabrera could man 3B potentially, or maybe Desmond can. I'm sure if not one of them could man 2B. I don't believe either are going to cost compensation so I would look at those 2 way before giving up a pick for Kendrick. Also I wouldn't touch Ian Kennedy due to the compensation. Another guy I wouldn't hate giving a short deal to is David Freese but he isn't sitting at the top of my list. Ian Desmond was given a QO. He'd cost a top 30 pick.
  18. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 12:51 PM) It's 17-14 in 2nd qtr. Both teams will put up 40. Greg, you can watch the game on The Cube online usually but this game isn't available. Pat Disabato is @disabato on twitter and is covering the game. Brother Rice wins 34-28
  19. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 01:06 PM) You're probably one of the people in denial about Montas likely being ticketed to the bullpen in the near future aren't you? I'm not in denial about anything. Montas needs to command the fastball and come up with some semblance of a 3rd pitch if he ever wants to be a big league starter.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 03:38 AM) Sweet can we beat South Elgin?? Yes! I love my Crusaders. It's 17-14 in 2nd qtr. Both teams will put up 40. Greg, you can watch the game on The Cube online usually but this game isn't available. Pat Disabato is @disabato on twitter and is covering the game.
  21. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 10:46 AM) We don't know what Shark could have gotten, but before deadline when we were winning, there was a tweet saying sox had a deal in place with SF for Shark but wanted to wait and see. I think it was the next day Giants got Leake for their number one prospect Keury Mella. I believe that's who we could have gotten. Mella will end up being a reliever. The pick the White Sox will receive is a better return than that.
  22. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 09:57 AM) And he's correct. Another reason the Sox shouldn't sign a FA with a QO. There are few who fit in our price range anyway. Yeah it is correct, actually. I didn't know that. Sox would have to forfeit their comp pick which makes it even less likely that they'd sign a free agent with a QO attached. Here's the rule: http://mlbplayers.mlb.com/pa/pdf/cba_english.pdf It also means that the White Sox comp pick for Samardzija will likely be in the 20's. No way that they forfeit that pick. Let's say that 6 teams lose their 1st round picks for signing QO free agents. That means that the 1st round will be 1-24. The White Sox would then receive the 27th pick in the draft for Samardzija. The Sox have the 2nd worst record (behind SD) for teams offering QO's. That means that the Sox get the 3rd pick in the comp round behind the picks that will be rewarded for Upton and Kennedy.
  23. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 08:55 AM) Yeah, I honestly thought the same thing. And quite frankly, the difference in value between a high-end comp pick (if it indeed goes by record) and the 10th or so selection in the 2nd round is pretty significant. I'm really hoping your right here. The rules say that you'd forfeit your next pick if your 1st is protected. The "sandwich" picks can't be lost though. I'm almost sure of it.
  24. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 06:36 AM) Dan Hayes is suggesting we'd lose our comp pick from Shark if we signed a free agent that received a QO. Anyone know if this is true? I didn't think so. Yanks and other teams have done this before where they lose 1st, 2nd, 3rd and then still get a comp pick because their player left. I think the Sox lose their 2nd rounder regardless. I guess I could be sarong though.
  25. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 07:02 PM) Wouldn't be surprised if its the Pirates due to their need at first base. They have Josh Bell knocking on the door though. I bet it's Colorado.
