QUOTE (juddling @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 07:55 AM) Looks like Jake Arrieta hit the wall harder than Princess Diana last night. Gee......my Facebook is awfully quiet this morning.......... Pitching 250 innings in a season when his previous high was 150+ can do that.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 18, 2015 -> 10:33 PM) Just like Puig to the White Sox for Quintana, unless they're 100% convinced Ryu will be healthy next year...then they'd be better off picking a couple of 3-5 guys off the second and third tier FA list. Of course, it depends on what happens with Greinke. Nobody is going to be rushing out after Price and Cueto with their shakiness issues (or just general problems adjusting to the AL in Cueto's case). But who knows...everyone's waiting to see the dollar signs with Greinke, Heyward, Cespedes, Upton, Price and Cueto posted first. I think the Dodgers will sign Greinke and one of the free agent starters. I'm thinking they sign Greinke and Cueto. David Price to Boston. Zimmerman to Cubs.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 12:27 PM) Matz and Niese out of the pen would make it tough for Schwarber late in the game. Collins has the ability to do some unique things if the cubs try to use percentages too much. I think Matz will start game 2

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 11:47 AM) More like Ashlee's I feel like the Ashlee's were always easier than the Ashley's. -
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 11:24 AM) It is now thanks to the marketing genius of the Tribune Company and the fact that for whatever reason the Sox felt they couldn't take the Cubs on when they bought the club in January of 1981 BEFORE the Cubs had that advantage. Historically though that wasn't always the case, during the Golden Age (again as I point out in the stories) it was the Sox who got the lion's share of the coverage. I think Sox fans would be fine with an honest split in coverage but that's not going to happen even though journalistically and ethically it is supposed to be that way. Mark No it shouldn't be that way. There are more Cubs fans than Sox fans. Why would media outlets spend the same amount of resources on each? That's a bad business model. The Cubs are more popular so more time should and will be spent talking about the Cubs.

Jays, Royals, Cubs, and Mets could all the win the World Series. There is no analysis. It's the playoffs and variance trumps everything. Just sit back and enjoy. I love the White Sox and they aren't playing so I'm not rooting for or against anyone. I kind of like that it's different teams rather than some combo of Boston, Yanks, Cards and Giants. I also don't want to tell anyone how to be a fan but the Cubs are going to be good for awhile. If that is going to really bother people, then those people might want to move away from Chicago. Should be a pretty miserable existence. Hopefully the White Sox turn things around and it won't matter.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 08:37 PM) I think I may do Ashley's. Thanks! I did Ashleys in high school. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 04:22 PM) QB Carson Wentz will be the next QB the Bears draft. I'm predicting it right now. We'll grab him in the 2nd round. Good write up from Greg Gabriel (yes, formerly of the Bears during the Angelo era). Retired now and was widely regarded as being pretty good at his job. He had an article last week blasting Goff (well...disputing the hype) and the draftnicks on TV (and well obviously Goff did nothing to help his stock against Utah). He talks very highly about Wentz and when you look at his tools and think about having Jay here, I got to say this is the type of guy you could draft, let him develop a year or two (while contending with Jay) and then turn the reigns over (while still trying to build a contender around Jay and when he gets too old or doesn't work, you have another option). http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/breaki...b-carson-wentz/ I like Carson Wentz a lot. I think he'd be a household name if he were at a bigger school.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 10:33 AM) Lemming and a few others have reported that their is beef with Jeffrey and the Bears. However, some other reporters have came out and said that is absolutely not true...specifically LaFofo(however the hell you spell it) indicated that those reports were false. Leming never said that there was. John Clayton said it apparently. Ian Rapoport says it's totally false and he wants to be on the field with his teammates.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 08:59 AM) Cub attendance took a big hit the past few years remember which led to the drive to bring in Theo, completely gut the franchise and get to where they are today. Their were a lot, ALOT of empty seats being shown on TV at Wrigley Field. Cub fans were getting fed up and pissed off. Columns were written about it in both the Sun-Times and Tribune. Just trying to be accurate. And just last year the Royals manager called out his fan base for not showing up with the Royals winning. Three decades of losing will do that to a fan base who has to be convinced the season isn't a mirage. Sounds a lot like things on the South Side no? (example is 2000 after four losing seasons in five years time...) Mark The Cubs didn't have Sale, Rodon, Quintana, Eaton, and Abreu either though.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 02:54 AM) I think that was also for hitting coach, although that makes less sense with Steverson seemingly set to return. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2...house/15314435/ Here's an example of his impact on the Royals' clubhouse and team confidence last year. Merkin mentioned Raul Ibanez. I bet they try to hire him as Assistant Hitting Coach. That was the job Baines had.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 12:28 PM) AJ has the personality to be really good at announcing. He has a lot in common with Hawk. Have you heard him at all during the playoffs? He's really good.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 11:39 AM) AJ probably could still make a couple million playing next year, but he is pretty good despite his claims that Kendres Morales is a threat to steal. His plan is to play one more season if possible. According to Spiegel.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 11:20 AM) Kenny's Gold Coast home just went up for sale. Also, separately, his son Tyler was released by the Sox this week. In the article, it states that they are just downsizing.
-
Matt Spiegel today hinted at the possibility of the White Sox hiring AJ Pierzynski. He said he couldn't really talk about it but said he'd heard rumors. I wonder if they would replace Steve Stone with AJ or just go with AJ/Hawk with Stone. Interesting.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 07:39 AM) Finebaum is crap when it comes to coaching news. He just dreams up scenarios in his head and reports them. Can't see Kelly leaving the nfl unless he has to. Feldman is the guy I'd follow for news. He's top notch. He has so many contacts. -
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 08:03 AM) Even with a new coach who will probably give younger guys more minutes, how could we have a rotation of 5 bigs? We already struggle to find enough minutes for our top 4. I think Portis will be playing. What they should do is trade Noah and Taj regardless of where they are in the standings. Noah is gone after the year and Taj can bring back a piece if he proves to be healthy.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 08:13 AM) This move says everything you need to know about how short Robin's leash is. Completely agree. Sandy Alomar will probably be the next manager if Robin falters. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ibanez as the assistant hitting coach as well.
-
I'd be fine with trying to acquire Marcell Ozuna and Martin Prado from Marlins. I'd see what it'd take to get Derek Norris from San Diego as well.

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 12:18 PM) I'm not sold on Anderson or Fulmer honestly. They may be studs in the minors, but who knows what their transition to the big leagues will be like. Rodon is a stud though and I'm glad that he fell to the Sox. I'm just hoping that they can draft/develop a stud position player for once. Not someone like Sanchez or Saladino. A legit star with all the tools. Fulmer and Anderson are good picks though regardless of what you're sold or not sold on.

On ESPN, Jim Bowden is doing a What's Next? piece for all 30 teams. He did the White Sox recently: http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/the-gms-of...icago-white-sox 1. 3rd Base Upgrade: He mentions Ian Desmond in FA. Also mentions Brett Lawrie, Trevor Plouffe, Martin Prado, and Todd Frazier via trade. 2. Upgrade at C: Matt Wieters and Alex Aliva were the FA names. Also mentions Derek Norris, Austin Hedges, Christian Vasquez, and Austin Barnes via trade. 3. Improve Defensively 4. Improve Lineup 5. Listen to offers for Chris Sale 6. Promote Tim Anderson to big leagues (terrible idea) and decline Ramirez's option. Jim Bowden is a boob but I wanted to see what 3B/C he thought would be available.

QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 12:17 PM) Abreu is not arbitration eligible. He opts out, he is a free agent. He Dosent even get a qualifying offer This isn't true. He can take arbitration on the last 3 years of his deal rather than taking the agreed upon salaries. He's with the White Sox for 6 years regardless.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 10:51 AM) How did they not see that before they drafted him? They knew. I think Grasu is an 8 year starter. It just won't be this year. My biggest issue with him is that he's already 24 years old. I loved him at Oregon though. He's already added 10 pounds.

QUOTE (Coach @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 10:30 AM) For all those that think Shuck should definately NOT BE A FULL TIME DH, here are his stats. Although he has not been a full timer, his stats speak volumes about whether he should have been over LaRoche.
